Mail have reported City offered 165k to keep Milner.. that's a ridiculous amount for a squad player

perhaps a bit of desperation due to the home grown rules

Well if that's the case then I'm glad to see Milner rejected the offer because it shows that he just wants to play football, unlike most of the money grabbing whores in football now.

He's still going to be on a 100 plus a week and the clubs top earner outside of Sturridge and Ballotelli so he's hardly low balled himself; but yeah, still a significant drop and all relative. And yeah, by all accounts he both wanted more regular footie and to play in his preferred position inside.

Oh, don't get me wrong, of all the potential top bracket forwards out there, that would fit the system Rodgers use's to a T, Tevez would top the list by a long chalk for me. As you say, similar style who is working as hard at 31 as he ever did. He defends from the front. A pre-request in the Rodgers lone role.

Just ironic that he'd of played for both Manchester clubs and the bigger club down the East Lancs. :P. Be darn funny to see the reaction of Utd fans too if it happened. ;).

From what I've seen, which isn't a substantial amount as I'm not that big on Spanish football, he's technically real talented. Quick, knows where the goal is. Pretty intelligent. Not the rounded end product, but he's developing well. But he looks like he'd snap in two. He's around the 11 stone mark with no real body frame to add any more weight/ bulk up. Just seems the completely wrong type of player to bring into England who'd get kicked to all heck and no doubt disappear by Christmas like so many flair players who are of such slight build do.

He'd be FAR better served staying in La Liga where he'd be allowed to play and develop IMHO.

They said the same of Aguero. Vietto is strong like he is, and exceptionally quick, you'd have to catch him before you foul him.

The only thing that would have stopped Milner joining is if you missed Europe entirely. He wanted to stay north because his family and gf/s family are all north (mostly leeds)

Well, considering we paid £0 for him, £100k per week isn't a huge issue.

Whomever said that of Augero was a bad judge of what they were watching. He's always been a well built, stocky lil' fella'. His strength was more than evident at Atletico.

I might be wrong on Vietto. But I wouldn't want to be the ones to take the chance personally.

Vietto is the closest thing to a future Aguero. I wouldnt sign him as my lead forward necessarily, but I would sign him as my excellent rotation with the potential to be a key great.

Balague reporting clubs are being scared off Raheem Sterling due to his reputation... True or not, there was always a danger of this happening because of his and his agents conduct

No one wants to deal with someone like Aidy Ward. He should learn from the likes of Mendes.

Should also add United's interest is genuine, on the basis they could get him for £25m or so. very unlikely to happen, but either way they are enjoying the instability the interest brings in the market

Yep. It's almost career suicide for someone like Aidy Ward

Of course it is.. If they weren't interested for around 25million I think you would be asking why not.. The only problem is, he wont be leaving for that amount if he does (certainly not to United aswell)

Just like I don't see anyway Jose let's Cech go to either Arsenal or Utd, regardless of the lip service he's paying it; I don't think there's anyway we deal with Utd whatever you offered after the way the Heinze B/S went down.

I'd personally have no problem selling Sterling to an English club, Utd or whomever for the right price. He's not half the player he thinks he is or is made out to be. The potential's there, but he needs a **** of a lot of work to become anything like a consistent top bracket player. Just another English kid with talent who gets scandalously over hyped down to the complete dirth of English talent. All pace with little end product nine times out of ten. Woeful finisher and terrible decision maker with no left foot to speak of at all.

But I seriously doubt there's any chance of Liverpool and Utd doing any business on anyone anytime soon.

No one actually believes that though? It's more likely Liverpool will let him rot on his £35k p/w than sell him to United for £25m.

That's a bit harsh. When Sterling was in form, he was delivering accurate crosses with his left foot, and through passes with the outside of his right. He was making defenders dizzy with his footwork, and he even scored from outside the box. I agree he still needs to improve a lot, but you're either exaggerating or basing it on his last few months when his head has been anywhere but on the pitch.

Meh, maybe a tad harsh but in the main he's had three VERY up and down years. With far more downs than ups. The second half of the season before this past one he was flying with the rest of the team. But outside of that it's been more mediocre than great.

The potential is there. But it's nowhere near the finished article.

VERY overrated player to the hype that goes along with him. Not least by ourselves.

Ibe looks everything Sterling isn't.

Sterling has had ups and downs, and is nowhere near the end product but dont let the fact he wants to leave hide the fact he is a fantastic young player

There are not many better in world football than him in his age bracket... It still could go both ways, but Sterling is very much capable of being a world class player

But all you're still talking about is potential. On a kid that still has a LONG way to go to remotely start fulfilling that on a consistent basis. But who thinks he's one of the best around already.

That's not to say he won't fulfil that potential. He's still only 20 after all. I just personally doubt he ever does and will end up a good player who flashes but one you're left frustratingly looking back at what could of been down to his attitude.

Ibe has the far better upside for me always round and has always ironically been better regarded at every level since he's been here than Raheem.

His potential could see him becoming anything he wants, but that's not to mention he is still a very good player now.. Inconsistent but still one of our better players before all this rubbish

I like Ibe, but we have to be careful that the same over-hyping you're mentioning with Sterling is not happening already with Ibe, with him proving very little so far
