Big mistake by you guys IF you're not making any significant signings.... getting to near the top of the perch competing with City and then resting on your laurels will just set you further back. Especially when you consider City will be investing this window on players like Rodri etc.

I meant domestically, you can't look back on what you've just achieved got to keep on pushing on and improving the squad even when your winning major trophies! By all the rumours it seems Liverpool (if the media are anywhere near true) aren't going to do much this window.
When you consider the amount of players on the move as well as Euros next summer so that will make it a less appealing window to do business, seems like an opportunity missed to me unless you make a couple of signings this window of course.
They don't feed the press white noise. That just isn't how it works. There's a difference between radio silence/no comment (which is common) and outright lying (which does not). The reason is that far more people know what's going with transfers than people think. Football clubs, well sports clubs in general are absolute sieves.
Take Pepe for example. The idea from Liverpool fans that Liverpool are lying and misdirecting over him is false. That is not to say, that they might not change their mind in a couple of weeks, but the idea they are lying to local reporters that they are angry over being used as a reason for prices to shoot up doesn't work.
Firstly clubs tend to want and need relationships with reporters(choose local/select/all depending on the club), and while they can't, and won't tell them anything, its an issue of trust that goes both ways.
Secondly, stuff almost always gets out, because people gossip within the club, someone tells their mate outside the club, someone tells their agent, eventually it ends up in the papers or social media. It's just much easier to say no comment, or ignore it entirely (what happens with the vast majority of rumours. I don't think you've been paying much attention to just what L'pool let out and what they don't since they badly messed up the initial van Dijk deal that ended up costing them another £25 million or so. There's been little to nottin coming out of the club since then and when there has, they've invariably made a good few journalists look pretty silly by completely misdirecting them. Alisson last year was a prime example that left the local corp with egg on their face.

Well, FWIW, I aren't going to concern myself with a lack of signings on July 2. ****, I wouldn't if this was the window shutting on August 8 and they've decided to wait until January for specific targets. Or next summer. They've more than earned anyones trust to think they know exactly what they're doing for both the long and short term and it will invariably be the right course they take.
The squads already stronger on last season as we currently stand right now.
Here's three players we've not had the use of much of all. Two of which are majorly important and a third who they rate within the football club as high as Fowler/ Owen coming through and who will get his fair share of games this year with the extra games. Oxo-Chambo. JMG. And Rhian Brewster.
That's the squad strengthened right there by addition. (I don't really count Moreno's 5 appearances as a loss. And Rhian will play a FAR bigger and more influential part than Daniel did last year all things being equal.). Add 'The Man, The Myth, The Living LEG-END Joe MF Gomez!', who we barely saw the last last 6 months since the leg break at Burnley the start of last December, and in effect you've three new bodies who will play a significant part this coming season. At the loss of 2 who wouldn't have.
And that's before you start with the likes of Lewis and Wilson being kept back from loans to see if they have made sufficient a leap through pre-season to be included in the squad.
Oh yeah, and the squad as a whole being that much better for both finally getting over the line and winning a trophy. The biggest they possibly could have won. Along with now knowing that they can go drop a 97 point season and hang neck-and-neck with City. That experience and the confidence they'll take from that, knowing they can go the distance and win this league, is immeasurable.
Do we ideally need to strengthen in a few areas? No question. They know that. Just when you get to the currently super high level L'pool are at, the pool of players that improve you, or at the least are as good as what you currently have, is an ever decreasing one. Which makes it all a lot harder task strengthening. As it happens, I personally fully believe they will when the right price in this stupidly over inflated market falls for the right player they have put the season's of research into who fits to a T.
Klopp, Edwards, Gordon and co know exactly what needs doing. And they also know they already have one of the best squads in European football. (We can argue that but being the Champions of all of Europe, coming off the best season of any team in Europe, renders it an obsolete debate.).
Only speaking personally mate but it's honestly not a concern to me right now and I'm just enjoying basking in being the best of the best. And the brilliant gang of lads we have who put us there and the next step on this wondrous ride we'll have with them next season.
All safe in the knowledge that the men that matter will take care of everything else when the right players that will improve the squad become available.

You're talking to someone who interacts with media managers and sport journalists for a living. I don't pretend to be an expert in everything, but this absolutely one area I know better than anyone here, and by a country mile. Again they didn't misdirect over Allison, they just didn't say anything, and let papers run with what they were hearing from other agents and sources, that's not misdirection, that's no comment.
The Pepe argument does stack up, I'm not sure how you've managed to misread what I wrote on that entirely, as I said, its also about pointing out they won't be used to play games, as such things can drive up fees for anyone they do want to chase.
Again its not smoke and mirrors, transfers aren't spycraft

I didn't misread what you wrote on Pepe. Because sometimes you do something like that to set the record straight, in this case it was with Lille. It's not a blanket rule that you have to do with everyone. Of course, Mane could break his leg at the AFCON and that would change everything, that's what I'm alluding to.

And I know there's no 'official' CL Golden Glove. But to be the first goalie to ever keep the most (joint most the CL) clean-sheets through a season in the three major club and Country competitions just adds to an absolutely phenomenal debut season that's elevated him to the top of the very top echelon of 'keepers currently.
Throw in a club record of 21 clean sheets the league (joint-second most in PL history and the first in over a decade to hit 20 or more), along with the first shut-out in the European Cup Final in 9 years .....
If he extends his current run of 9 successive clean-sheets to double figures against Peru the Copa America final Sunday night and goes through a whole major International tournament from the start to win it without a conceding a goal ..... Absolutely phenomenal year he's had. No other way to put it.
van Dijk's been a ridiculous, difference making addition and is by common consensus the best CH in World football right now and the bookies favourite for the Ballon d'Or. But Alisson has been even more important an addition to a L'pool defence that was never that bad under Klopp outside of the sub-standard clown between the sticks.
As much as goalies rarely are, he should be RIGHT up there for Ballon d'Or consideration this year after his ridiculous, record breaking first season at Anfield.

After a well earned summer break basking in the glory of numero seis, the Reds are back at it today starting out on the long road of hard work to (hopefully) repeating in Istanbul next May.
With the first game at Tranmere a mere 5 days away!
Will Milner beast the bleep test again today? (Rhetorical. The Ronaldo-esq super human freak that he is.).
I'll post on what I'm looking forward to out of pre-season toward that game. But as for the upcoming season as a whole, and expectations/ personal wants .....
Honestly, just to continue improving and be seriously challenging again.
We win the league? Great. We push City all the way and drop 90 plus points but don't? Sound. Can't ask for much more than knowing L'pool have given everything like last season. Aim for consistently putting up 85/90 points at least and eventually you'll win one. Not least with Pep liable to be gone after this season but that's for another discussion on another day.
I fully expect us to be European Cup quarter-finalists at the very least year-on-year from here on in now. And from there it's all down to the luck of the draw.
The CS will be a seriously competitive affair for once with neither side wanting to lose face. But we're liable to not be anywhere near full strength so that's a freebie.
DEFO want to win the SC and CWC though. They should be prioritised.

Announce the Charity Shied details L'pool!!!! This is getting beyond ridiculous now! Games less than a month away for Pete's sake! It'll be pay on the gate at this rate! Sort it out!
And FIFA, announce the dates for Qatar already so we can start planning/ booking for December! What the heck is the hold-up there?
I'm checking this daily WAY more than any transfer rumours and it's LONG past being frustrating waiting now!

Devoed for Salah with Egypt's shock loss the AFCON last night. Hopefully he clears his head of this before he returns and it doesn't linger as that one will cut especially deep being the host Nation with all the weight of expectation. I might not do International footy per se, but I can fully appreciate just what it means to guys like Mo. Which the manager patently understands and encourages for the benefit of happy players and the changies too. For example in how he happily let's them jet off for the African player awards a few days before a major game. The pride and importance of being there in person to these lads on the Continents highest award stage is immeasurable. And no video acceptance is replacing that.
Success breads success and the older I get, rather than selfishly being happy Mo and Nabby no longer have the extra burden of more games, returning even later before the start of the season; I now take the POV that this is majorly important to them and wish them all the best in games for their respective Nations. With the major positive for L'pool being, when it comes to major tournaments, our players (hopefully) continuing that winning feeling by adding more medals to their collections.
A LOT to be said for one or more of our lads lifting silverware this summer to follow on from #6.
Once you get that winning taste, you want it ALL the time. And that can only be to the benefit of the football club.
So now over to Sadio and his compadres to do Senegal proud now and (hopefully) win the AFCON for the first time.. Draw's really opened up with all these shocks. And first, tonight, all the best to Alisson and Bobby in trying to end Brazil's LONG 12-year-wait for a major International trophy the Copa final against Peru.
