3-0 win. Bobby, Naby Lad and Brewster.

As first game back extended training sessions go, played a good part in horrendous conditions, that wasn’t bad at all.

Straight back on it first half looking sharp and crisp. Curtis and Naby Lad the standouts. Neco looking more and more that he can be relied on to spell Trent far more.

Naturally dropped a bit the second with the now sodden pitch cutting up not helping. Nick the Greek quick as and tidy. Rhian everything Origi never was. Taki looking very tidy. And a bonus 22 minutes from Billy Koumetio. What a moment for him. And arguably the best player on the park the time he was on.

All in all a good way for the Champions of F EVERYTHING! To return to doing what they do best.

Enjoyable watch.

That's next weekend boxed.

Watch the Reds hopefully win a 16th Community/ Charity Shield to start the season with another trophy Saturday tea-time on BT.

Then a relaxing Sunday night with the BBC and the Champions-

Hope the weathers better in Salzburg this avvy than it was down the road in Saalfelden Sat'day.

One benefit of being at home right now is being able to watch what looks the perfect step-up from VfB in prep. for the season opener at Wembley this coming Saturday tea-time.

It'll also be interesting to see how the limited fans works out. (1.25 K.).

Just wish this was back in the pre=pandemic times and we'd arranged a game against RBS. I'd be all over that. LOVED the trip to Salzburg last season. Having it in the winter just made it picture perfect.

From 2 down to 2 absolute belter Brewster goals the last 18 minutes for an excitingly mixed 2-2 draw with RBS.

A very good way to bring an end to a great 11 days in Austria.

Another 62 minutes in the legs for 7 starters. 55 in big Virg’s before the nasty looking cut above his eye. Brewster again showing he’s everything Origi never was and just why he’s the jewel in a burgeoning academy crown. And a comeback from 2 behind where they had to dig deep against quality opposition who’ll be a real tricky test again for anyone the CL groups.

Sloppy first half but Salzburg being sharper from playing 3 more pre-season games was to be expected. Fabinho absolutely shocking so glad that’s out the way. Just meh all around. But real beneficial from the standpoint of knowing what we need to sharpen up on for the biggie Saturday.

Much better the second half. Particularly in the last half hour when the younger lads were on. Even Philips and Grujic looked great which hopefully will make suiters minds up to come and buy them. And what can you say about Rhian? Frightening just how much better he’ll still become. Two stunning goals to take his tally to 3 in 2. F the loan idea. He’ll be priceless off the bench and spelling lads this year. Again, everything Origi never was. Ones a natural top class goal scorer. One is a mediocre footballer.

Sets things up very nicely for Arsenal after that stern test for a friendly.

Oh yeah, most ex-Reds are terrible on the telly but John Aldridge is in a World of his own. Mispronouncing even simple names. The worst homer alive. Just an all-around terrible show from him 2 games running. Glad that’s the end of him the friendlies.

Not long turned 20.

Scary potential. People forget in his nigh on 2 years out/ rehabbing the horrible injury he had that he was the star man of that U17 World Cup triumph.

Thought he was 18 lol. That’s the thing people don’t factor in with Chong at Utd. He missed nearly 2yrs of development with a couple of serious knee injuries not long after joining. Hope both stay injury free and prove some doubting fans wrong

Up nice and handy for the 7 O'clock rattler to London for the Community Sh ....... AHHHHHHHH  !!!!!!

Joking aside, this is a tough start to the season personally as this will be the first CS I've missed since 1984. I know it's completely out of our hands that we can't currently attend in person but it still proper sucks!

That said, that run of 9 straight ending aside, I can't wait to get our season started with (hopefully) a long-overdue victory in the curtain-raiser to move us clear of Arsenal in total Shield wins with 16 into second place behind Utd. First time in 18 years we've been in back-to-back CS which is pretty darn criminal in all honesty for L'pool FC. That should be the aim at the start of every season. To be in the next season's opener as it invariably means you've had a successful season in league or cup. The way it always used to be. Aim for that and you won't be going far wrong.

Let's hope this is just the start of a run of regular appearances for the mighty Reds in this game and the first of a few different pieces of silverware for the club again this season.

A little different CS this year coming in the middle of pre-season, but after a great training camp over in Austria, and when you look at the absolute shambolic current state of Arsenal (Champion class up-front. Relegation class in midfield and defence), it couldn't be set up better than to see L'pool start their year off in the best possible way. Memories that you can't get enough of. LFC picking up yet more silverware.

Here we go again .....

'Into this shower of ***** Redmen!'

Just a glorified friendly anyway... Takumi looked excellent though when he got his goal. You could see the growing confidence in him. Unlucky for Brewster with the pen but he will learn from it. One thing I have noticed is how Neco is similar to Trent when they first started off, absolutely shocking defensively especially 1v1 but that's expected at his age.

Decent watch. God knows why Arsenal want to get rid of Niles. Not impressed with Naby again today. Had some good moments but nothing special.

Ugh. Same end result as s last years Shield. SO frustrating but that's football. Well done Arsenal.

And a similar game in many respects. Weren't at it at all first half. Picked up the second. (If not to the sparkling effect of last years second half against City in the opener.).

Not too many positives performance-wise. Robbo great as per. Just needed the bounce of the ball to fall our way on some superb balls in. Taki with his first goal for the club and super half hour. Naby Lad busy as over the same duration. And Arsenal didn't unduly threaten us to any great extent. Gutted for Rhian but that's the pot-luck of peno's.

I think the main issue today was two solid weeks of real hard 2-a-days finally catching up. Looked real leggy all the 90. But a good warm-up nonetheless that will have done them all great for the start of the PL.

Frustrating as all heck as I badly wanted to win the CS. 14 years man. It's been WAY too long.

Just have to make sure we're back at Wembley for another shot the start of next season.

Belter goal from Aubameyang. Congratulations again to Arsenal.
