The Manchester United Thread

Hey guys, remember that bloke who lost 2-0 to oxford and 1-0 to Norwich in his first games as united manager and only won one away game in a whole season? and then finished 11th in his first season in charge? Bit worse than LVG really but he turned out okay I think...

LVG has made some poor mistakes, gets criticized for not playing 442, and when he does he gets flak for it because we didn't win. Admittedly we should have and LVG deserves some flak but you are talking like Moyes is still in charge. LVG knows what wants and will get it. We are in the top four and still in the cup, and no one realistically expected us to win anything this year anyway.

You can't talk sense in this thread you know

Its not about not winning really. Last nite we were very boring and not for the first time as well!

Well, it's gotten a wealth of talent, an absolute ***k tonne of money, consistenly qualifying for the CL, premier league titles, FA Cup wins

Edit-obviously the PL titles are outside the 10 year window but just talking in general. And of course not forgetting some quality Arsene Wenger moments aswell

Zero CL wins and as you mentioned, the glory years were long ago. Stability is fantastic when you are achieving success consistently (eg. Fergie) but in no way whatsoever, should it be used as an excuse to not sack a manager when results are poor. Again I think the club should keep faith in LVG but if he can't reach top 4 this season then he should be gone imo

Did he spend exorbitantly in the summer getting some of the best players in the world? Did he have experience of managing big clubs to help him? Did he have a squad full of proven world-class players to help him? Did he have access to the best resources in terms of facilities, coaches and scouts? Did he have a huge fan base to egg his team on? Awful comparison to compare Fergie's first season to LVG's

I think it's time for LVG to make choices now.

Personally I'd like to see a 4-2-3-1 just as someone said here before. You'd still have enough defensive stability with 2 DM's and your attacking power should be really good once it gets used to a certain playing style. The squad might be imbalanced but LVG should already be making a frame for the next season. He has to find out who his main striker is gonna be. If Mata/Januzaj have a future at the club and which role. Same for Fellaini and Herrera.

Now nearly everyone is fit you should have a good first 11 players, maybe not most solid CB's, but that shouldn't be a reason to not build a foundation for the next years.

About if LVG should be fired or not. I think LVG was just brought in for the first team, but also to reorganise the club's structure as in training and youth. That'll be a pretty tough decision then to fire a coach because of his first team results, while he didn't have time to finish his "secondary" targets. So if you'd fire LVG you'll need someone who guards the ideas which are implemented and should hire a first team coach who is fine with those ideas and will mainly focus on changes in the first team.

Dragovic started following Rojo and Valdes on Instagram.

I'm not comparing against one another, I am using it as an example of patience. I know the circumstances are different, ****, the game is different, but we need to give the manager a chance, as his whole CV shows that he is a great manager when he gets going and has won a lot of titles.

Yes one needs to keep patience but that doesn't mean that one is not allowed to criticize when your £200m team struggles against a League Two side

saying someone follows someone else on instagram isnt ****????

Just shut up mate. You don't know ****. Messi is following Chelsea and that means he will be coming this summer. Watch this space

As usual, same people posting nonsense in this thread. There is lot of difference between a player randomly following someone on social media and when they follow player from a club who are rumored to made bid for him.

And worse is some random dude following superstar and comparing it with footballer following another footballer.

I'm out before it starts all over again.
