The Manchester United Thread

For reference: Europa draws 12 PM BST Monday.

They've moved it from this Friday thankfully. (Personally. Pain in the *** trying to book on things when you're still away. Monday's much better.).

Single round draw as they've done away with the double draws. Country protection for this round only. If you end up as one of the 4 best 3rd place Champions League sides after tomorrow, you'll be seeded and away first. If not, home first.

Greatest post in a while, pure troll but well done.

Some tasty drop outs into it. Hope we ******* take it seriously. English attitude annoys me more than anything else.

**** spending £100m in January. Use that £100m to pay LVG off now and give the rest to Ancelotti to get or his **** at his nice villa in the sun and move to rainy Manchester. I can't take this any more. Owen is spot on. 18 months of **** football and nothing to show for the money he's spent. NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!

On january i'd love some Mane like, southampton seemed to have dropped off and a move might reignite him or have all the flair sucked out of him.

A-freeking men. You know my views on it. Major competition and it's fixing to be real strong again this year.

The potential nightmare comes if we're to meet in the final. Aside from the obvious, the fact UEFA are only officially disgracefully giving 6 thousand a team would lead to absolute carnage the numbers we'd both take to Basle. And the neutral areas ......have fun selling those.

The only folks happy would be the Basle hooli's. And they are some sadistic bastards.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. LOT of European football to be played out before then.

If he plays a weak team and we get knocked out, I want him gone. It's a European comp FFS. Might be pony in the group stages because of how it's designed ( this needs to be all straight knock out), but the knock outs are awesome

**** the Europa league tbh haha, unless we finished below 4th then yeah come on europa.

Yeah If I was LVG, i'd be looking over my shoulder at Ancellotti. Aside from being world class, he would take the United job, and United tried to get him before he went to Madrid.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to be in the champions league still, but Europa League is sort of a great test for Man Utd. Everyone thinks we would get knocked out of the next round of the champions league anyways with the way we've played, so why not win the Europe league and see what people say.

Not the ideal situation but it's not the worse thing in the world.

Carlo is great although his league record is suspect, although he's a more likable chap and may do better in the market.

Scraping the UEFA Cup was the dumbest thing UEFA ever did. Seriously.

Or he'll do an alright job and you'll call for his head because he'll get us to the champions league final but lost it to Barca....

That's what it seems like with some of the **** you've said.

Ohhh too much salt.

Burnt my **** that.

Yeah, I have zero problem with it really. This team was getting nowhere in CL knockouts anyway. At least this way they'll get plenty of European experience and hopefully go far and gives fans something to be excited about.

Its really kind of pointless to put the blame entirely on manager, when all English teams suck donkeys *** in Europe for about 5 years now. The whole league is crisis.

I personally think that history will look fondly on LVG. He's been given 3 years to build the foundations of a team for the next decade (Martial, Depay, Herrera, Shaw, Darmian etc.) have the potential to be mainstays in the side for years to come. He's playing the football he feels is necessary to maintain our league position while doing it. Dislike it all you want, but right now, it's effective in the only measure that really matters - points. People act like he's inherently a defensive manager, when he's historically built many attacking sides. He's just pragmatic, and does what he feels is necessary according to his squad's strengths/weaknesses.

He has his methods/philosophy and admirably sticks by them no matter what. At almost every club he's managed at he's attracted the ire of fans/media in one way or another, but he almost always leaves them in a better way than he left them, while winning trophies.

Finally, we've been spoilt by the unprecedented consistent levels of success that Fergie achieved. We're in transition - stop expecting everything while we are. Every big club goes through peaks and troughs - for years at a time. Barcelona, Bayern, Madrid (who last had a GREAT team, when?) etc. all have spent years at a time in the wilderness. Put his performance into the context of what he's been asked to do, rather the unrealistic expectations he's being held to, and judge him then.

Aren't you just a bundle of idiocy.

Knockout blow.

Still don't think what i said about LVG was that bad, i sometimes do forget we are in a decent position in the league but hopefully your greatness can excuse me of that since our performance don't show this.

Yeah this is not an overreaction at all.

You're right, it is, but I do think he has ruined a lot of creativity in the youth of our squad. Martial, Depay, to name 2 have been incredibly restricted in their general play. The whole team are not willing to create chances, take risks. There is little point to being a brick wall in defence (and I will admit that has been a cracking improvement from last year) but it has gone the complete other way. We sit back and pass the ball around the edge of the box looking for a way through the whole team who are camped in there.

Honestly, I do want him gone as I don't think he has done much at all to make us better. We are united and it is our blood to play attacking attractive football. Not either long ball to Fellaini or pass around a box for 90 mins. I am ****** that he shows no passion in a win or die scenario. I personally don't like it as i like a bit of passion in my managers, but I do get that others may not agree on that.

Scraping the UEFA Cup was the dumbest thing UEFA ever did. Seriously.

And the Cup Winners.

The ******* absolute irony being Chelsea, a club with jack **** history in relation, find a Russian saviour and become the first British side to win all three. Bastards.

And it's still on for Utd. One thing we can no longer do as the Cup Winners Cup is no more.
