Guess that finish guarantees Rooney's undisputed spot for another three seasons >.>

Have you even been watching our past few games? Rooney has been playing better and better. Form is improving a lot from the start of the season. If this continues he'll be back to his best.

He has improved against Chelsea and up until that finish in this game was bang average IMO.

0-0 MCFC
0-0 Boro

0-0 CSKA
0-0 WBA
0-0 PSV
0-0 West Ham
0-1 Norwich
0-0 Chelsea

Our last 8 games at Old Trafford before today, it's a miracle that LVG is still here but furthermore that we've scored 2 goals in a game!

Thats the point i was making. He's been average. Much better than what he was at the start of this season. He's just been steadily improving each game.

Man, if Fabianski scored there at extra time, and fired Van Gaal in the process, it would be hilarious story of the season.

Only main positive of this season so far is Martial, quality player and I think he'd be even better under a different manager.

Finally a win!!!...*breath*...

I forgot how it felt like to win a football match...

We need to sign a CB and/or an LB and Daley Blind needs to play/rotate in midfield instead of Fellaini (Sell Fellaini, even tho I like that guy)..

I'm honestly at the point where I genuinely don't want us to win because yet again we've been dire, in the long run we're not going to get anywhere by playing like this even if we get a flukey result today.

That's the single stupidest thing I've heard in a long time. Because do you know what happens if you keep winning? You might, just might, get a title. The key is to keep string these wins together, and improve. What we needed today was any win to get confidence back, now we must build on it, and get better again and again.

On the side note, what kind of weirdass formation was that. 3-6-1?

I can see both sides of that.

On the one hand you have fans that exasperated by another woefully average home display, that's just a culmination of months of bad football now, that they're' naturally worried it's just another result papering over the much larger cracks and that all it does is keeps Van Gaal in a job and Utd's long term prospects down in so doing.

On the other, you have the hope that winning begets winning and improvement might well ultimately come from that. I personally can't see it turning for you like that under him, but I understand anyone wanting to win football matches over anything else.

Both POV's have their merit's to me. Not least in situations like this.

Not really, I'm thinking about what's best for the club long-term. Right now the football we are playing is dire, it's not going to improve because we are 18 months in and Van Gaal himself admitted it takes 3 months. So we've seen the best of what he has to offer with this team.

Don't get me wrong we might contrinue to scrape these results once again, whilst not playing well, but it has just as likely possibility to go another terrible run if we continue to play like we did today. Don't get me wrong there was a few positives from the game due to individual moments from Martial/Young and Rooney. But again collectively as a team it was a poor performance, especially in first half, making hard work of a very average Swansea team, being kind.

Right, but you should never want your team to lose. It's frankly stupid logic

Except we havent seen the best of what he has to offer.

I literally have no time for anyone who wants to see the side lose.

We could go either way. So how exactly does losing help?

The team who wins 6 on the bounces will win the title. We need to improve. If we dont improve, then he goes. But dont ever think wanting the team to lose is a good thing.

Yeah, was Schweinsteiger playing left mid?

Yeah it was the weirdest thing. I don't think I've ever seen wingbacks+3 at the back+lone striker formation.

It certainly worked swell though, Swansea done absolutely nothing until they switched the formation themselves.

The simple fact is LVG has to keep winning to keep his job, and also now play better. If he achieves it, he deserves to stay, if he doesnt he gets fired.

I said I don't want us to win if we play bad I mean, because we don't deserve it anyway and like Scouse mentioned, just papers over more cracks than solving anything.

Right now I think it is more beneficial to move on without LVG, we need a fresh start and a new stamp on this team with a different manager. I don't know what LVG's philosophy is anymore but it certainly doesn't match to the United way of playing first and foremost, attacking football.

The only way I'd want to keep with LVG is if we knew for a fact that Pep was coming at end of season, which will not be happening.

Well that's pretty stupid, United WON TITLES winning games badly. The key is to string them together. Are you really saying you'd take an exciting loss right now?

Thing about getting rid of a manager: make sure you replace him with somehow who is going to be better.

Who is this different manager sitting around ready to play attacking football in January? We'd all love to win and play amazing, but there is no fairyland manager going to do that in the next few games. Liverpool have realised that even under Klopp. United to dig in themselves, and raise their own levels, maybe add a few in the window

Jose is the one who would get the job, and you don't like him either!
