The Manchester United Thread

Told you. Football "banter" is the worst.
Like seriously, it's not funny or witty on any level. It does not contribute to anything.
But maybe I'm not the best person to judge that based on my infraction list.

Having not watched the game, I can't comment on Bailly's performance. But Steveorobbo's description, accurate or otherwise, reminds me of Skrtel. My Man United friends constantly telling me he was Liverpool's best CB was painful to listen to because he makes highlight reel tackles on occasion, but only to recover from a positioning error. Bailly impressed me for Villareal last season though so I doubt he will have the same issues.

As for Lingard, his goal was sick, and as much as I don't like Man United, it's kind of nice to see him doing well there after seeing him tour Australia a couple of years ago. At the time I bet a Man Utd friend of mine that he'd make it with you guys. Safe to say I've won that bet.

Why does a differing opinion make him that?

Differing opinion on something that everyone else agree's on makes him that though.

Or do you think Pogba is just hyped because of his Athleticism? That Pogba can't win, change or control games? Or that he isn't as good as another player in another position whose older and more experienced?

I dont care about price as I agree with Gary Neville that everything is way to expensive, im just happy Pogba is back

are thay paying pogba agent?
Yes that I can see and from what Di Marzio is saying.

Paul's statement

To all supporters who wrote on my pages about transfer rumours, I have read you all and thank you for the passionate messages. My apologies for not responding before, by law I could not talk.

This transfer took so long because it was a huge decision and involved lots of thinking and work. The wait was as annoying to me as it was to you.

It is difficult to explain so much in a few lines but I made a decision guided by my heart and nothing else.

Juventus will always be a part of me and I will always miss, love and be grateful to the club, the team and especially the supporters. I hope you can respect my decision. The most beautiful part of friendship is to understand and be understood.

My deepest respect to the clubs who considered having me. Gracias, merci!
Mi más profundo respeto para todos los clubs que han valorado ficharme. Gracias, merci!

Leaving Manchester when I was 18 was a mutual decision between the club and me and the right thing to do at that moment. Now it's time to go back and forward, Old Trafford here I come!

So his heart is United... that's huge!

Nice work, Woody and Raiola. Didn't cave in where they could well have.

@VP89 @Insanity We've paid the world record €105m to Juventus but nothing of the 20% to Raiola business. That's gone from the pockets of Juventus, if at all.

They also have to pay solidarity fees to his old clubs which means we get 5% of it back. About 4.5m.

What I find interesting is that we almost don't see transfers between the biggest clubs anymore, unless the owning club simply wants to sell. The price to force someone out of top tier clubs would be astronomical.

The fee for Pogba represents about 19% of our projected revenue for 15/16.
Just to put things into perspective... When we signed Dennis Law from Torino, it cost us 20% of our revenue. Along similar lines, Ferdinands transfer was 18% of our revenue.

Once revenue streams are taken into account, this transfer outlay is nothing out of the ordinary.

Overpriced and i do think he is 'slightly' overrated, but having said that it is still a fantastic signing for United.

They've got the money and a signing such as Pogba sends a statement across the world. Add in Ibra and you've got two of the biggest stars in world football alongside one of the biggest managers.

It sets the spine up perfectly for further investment in the rest of the team in the future.

Differing opinion on something that everyone else agree's on makes him that though.....

That is the most ridiculous argument. (Aside from the blanket generalisation of everyone else.).

Someone doesn't agree with everyone else. Said omeone is a 'bitter ****.'

Logic at it's finest.

come on his comments his comments were pure nonsense. I can understand him having a different opinion but to come out and say he's not a game changer or is only rated because he is an athlete and moves well is just ****!

Great work Ed!

According to their press release, they're getting 72.6m euros after 'solidarity subsidy' so it likely means Raiola's fee is part of the transfer fee and not something on top of it.

I think you need to calm down with all this Ed woodward praise for not paying Raiola's fee. Raiola had no leverage as United were the only ones bidding for Pogba.
