The Manchester United Thread

Always a shame, like the Welsh team of the 80's which springs instantly to mind, when great players like Metal Mickey, often some of their Country's all time best; never get the chance to play in a finals tournament down to being born in such a small Country.

Talking of campaign's, I'm still reminded of how Mata's United career was over once Jose turned up

Oh....

This game vs Arsenal we may have a good chance of winning by the sounds of it they could be missing quite a few key players.

Pogba nets yet again on international duty, Mkhitaryan played very well earlier to inspire Armenia to come back from 0-2 down at HT to win 3-2.

There's no way Kimmich is leaving Bayern. And he has played at RB for Bayern also. He's played 23 times for Bayern this season so it's hardly like he's not playing. Plus regular games for Germany and is a boyhood Bayern fan and came through there academy. Just as much chance of signing Muller in the summer. Ancilotti loves this kid and can't speak highly enough of him.

He's outshining Renato Sanches with ease, and yeah he's rarely played at RB for them because of Lahm and Rafinha. Pretty sure he came through with Stuttgart though, not Bayern? No way they will sell regardless

Honestly not seen anything of Bayern this year. Hows he settling? Sanches?

Sanches is struggling to adapt but I'm sure he'll end up being fine. Kimmich has been incredible, hadn't scored for Bayern at all last season, now has about 7 in his last 9 games or something, and this from midfield!

I still find this spectulation over wanting a new RB bit pointless I've been reading. I mean we have Valencia and Darmian, that is perfectly fine for now. My main concern with fullbacks is more Shaw getting his form back.

Arsenal will be missing Bellerin, Cazorla and Sanchez, three huge players for them, hopefully we can get a result from this game. We usually do well against Arsenal but given our recent form I'm not confident. However with them three players missing we have a great chance now to get a win.

Make your mind up! ;)

I don't think it would be good enough for top 4. There is weaknesses there, defence both in CB and RB (I don't like Valencia, positionally suspect during better teams testing him).

Yeh but Darmian is an actual internationally renowned RB who I would have over Valencia anyway. I mean who on earth would you even get in January? Fabinho would be as big a gamble as going with what we have IMO.

Coleman. But we'd be held to ransom.

Sounds like typical 21st century player looking a move away when there's been whispers.

4 years left on his contract and Koeman has shown already he's a complete *** if you **** him off so he'd be playing a dangerous game if he was.

Whispers to Utd? Man, I personally hope there's something in that. Never seen anything in him personally. Just a run of the mill hard working player.

Granted he's not world class... but he's aggressive, solid at the back, good going forward, goes down as a homegrown, and supports United (which I think is a big thing, if you see him for his country, he'd die for the badge - if he transferred that passion to United should he ever move here, then we haven't had a right back with that attitude since Neville).

He's within the top 3 right back's in the league along with Clyne & Walker for me.

Edit: Always forget Bellerin, but yeah - that's the top 4, none of them a complete level above one another.

I'm at every single Ireland match in the Aviva, friendly's included. Haven't missed a match in 20 odd years.
He is muck for Ireland.

His performances always **** us off.

That's fair enough, but it's only your opinion, and you're well entitled to it. The same way Scouse's opinion of Daniel Sturridge differs from other game-going supporters of LFC.

If you think he's muck, I'd hate to think what you think of James Carthy, Glenn Whelan & co - who truly are MUCK for Ireland.

Hes often been on the end of most blue rants the last few years too. (Not that, that's saying much as they nark about everyone even when they win!).

Everton quality. Not what should be Utd quality if we're talking about an upgrade at first XI level IMHO. I'd rather Flannagan (who I doubt ever plays for L'pool again as his skill set no longer fits) than Coleman. He has no pace but at least he's consistently sound as an old school defensive full back.

Whelan is a bag of wank who slows everything down and kills any attempt we make at a counter attack.
McCarthy is a donkey.

Watching these players in every game live gives you a much better all round view of how they perform, on and off what the tv screen sees.

Personally think Azpiculleta, Clyne, Bellarin (for the purposes of this we'll class him as a vet) and Darmian are the only real quality veteren RB's the PL.

Never rated Walker.

Darmian's as good a quality as any World wide IMHO. Don't know what's gone wrong at Utd but he's a quality talent.

Don't know what Utd have coming through but a promising youngster backing up Darmian with Shaw and Blind the other side would seem to have your FB slots boxed off for the next 5 years or so to me. Shrugs.
