The Manchester United Thread

Yeah I was just talking about the right back's that play week in-week out. I wish Mourinho did fancy Darmian more, but it is what it is.

Always think Coleman gets overrated because of the work rate up and down he puts in without any real quality at either end. No thanks! Would rather give Varela a shot who was doing very well on loan before injury. Or Rily who reminds me a bit like Dennis Irwin.

BTW, as much as you'll hate it, City have two excellent FB's in waiting who if they aren't starting next year, I'll be shocked. The lad who played RB against Utd the League Cuo. And an outstanding Spanish prospect on the left who's name escapes me.

Angelino is the Spanish LB. On Darmian. Started off great got injured then messed around by LVG after that. Encouraging for him is that Mourinho has actually been complimentary the last 2 times he has played.

He's also been really complimentary of Rojo too, but I doubt that'll lead to any long term ideas :P Idk, I don't think Mourinho fancies him, but unlike Schweinsteiger, he hasn't publicly said it, so won't look like a hypocrite to use him.

I hope Darmian does impress though, I myself am one of the few United fans still a little bit on the fence with him, but I know you and many others think the world of him.

Angelino is the Spanish LB.....

That's the fella'. Ta. Brilliant prospect. Played the MLS for City last year in NY. they've brought him on slowly over the last 4 years but he looks more than ready to step up the first team now. Same with the other Spaniard at RB Maffeo. I know City's owners love the big name splash but under Pep I'd be real surprised if those two don't replace the ageing and on the down side full backs City currently have.

FT 4-0. Beat Newcastle u18s today. Goals from Gomes, Gribbin, Bohoui, Boonen :)

Sadly City went and battered Wolves 6-1 last night to remain top. They're the top side to beat at every youth level right now.

And again now they've got Guardiola in the pathway through is there for these boys. The set up they've put in place with those facilities in particular is ridiculous. Watching our U-23 game there a couple of Friday's back, and there's not only that fabulous mini stadium they've built over the road from the Ethiad, but there's two full video boards going in full effect. For a frigging U-23 game! Utter madness haha. But credit to the owners. They've certainly invested the right way.

Very Good read by someone who follows our youth set up religiously and knows people and youth coaches at the club.

Koeman is interested in Memphis.

He is and that's mad that. The big continued knock on Memphis is his **** poor attitude and work ethic. The two things Koeman takes no **** over.

Or maybe the self proclaimed 'Merseyside Millionaires' actually still have no frigging money and loans are the best they can get in?

Memphis just had his best game in a while. Since midtgyland I think.

His games gone to complete **** this year. Most blues are happy he's been benched.

Slightly off United-topic, but since we're mentioned and a linked team, why not.

I thought this was a really good piece on Coleman from SportsJoe, and I can't really disagree with any of it. Just an example of how people's opinions (Yourself/Anthony/TOD & I) can completely differ, one of the reasons I love this game.

http://www.sportsjoe.ie/football/seamus-coleman-ireland-everton/102786

When Martinez' Everton were in form a few seasons back, he scored 6 goals, racked up 2 assists, created 45 chances (second most created in that side) with just one defensive error all season, not bad for someone who has no "real quality at either end."

As a direct reply to your quote, this is a pretty legitimate answer which is nicked from the article;

"What happened to Coleman that meant this stunning season wasn't rewarded with a move to an elite club?
The short answer is nothing happened to Coleman, he's still a brilliant full-back and if his club form dipped it was largely due to the unravelling of Martinez's team over the next two seasons."

And for what it's worth, I thought he was excellent for Ireland away to Austria yesterday. I personally would bite Everton's hand off for Coleman if it was anything under 20 million, no right back in the league is a cut above him, roughly on par with 3 or 4.

I'm pretty sure that squad consisting of FM-Base top posters would have a good game vs. Luxembourg.

I have 4500+ posts, can I play?

Seriously agree though. Memphis is still pretty poor regardless of one game. Thats an unbiased opinion though as I know United have much better in their ranks despite me being a Red.

He just needs the confidence of a manager

Angel Gomes is representing England at youth international level but do you reckon he will continue on to England senior team or opt for Portugal? One of the most promising talents I've seen for a long time. Him and Chong should make it to United first team with ease, as long as their attitude doesn't do a Ravel Morrison.

I'd start Gomes against Arsenal this weekend.
