The Manchester United Thread

I don't think it's so much the quality at the back. The problem is not turning our dominance into goals. Were just not creating enough good chances while we are comfortable and in control.

We were poor although there were few clear cut chances. It was a pretty drab draw imo. The Giroud chance was probably the best quality of the game. The result was fair.

.... The result was fair....

I don't care what crappy analytical pictures you share, it was men against boys. Arsenal VERY VERY lucky to get away with that, should've lost it comfortably based on general play.

We created the best chance in the game. United created very little. Cech never had a serious save to make apart from the excellent Mata finish though we were poor. United pressed well but you didn't create much either.

Do you just base games on statistical chances created? We won pretty much every second ball, hungrier, stronger, our passing was better; much more meaningful and sharper. We comfortably dealt with Ozil & Sanchez, bossed the midfield, got into so many good areas (particularly out wide right with Valencia) without quite finding that final ball, should've had a penalty, etc etc.. there's no way around this Damola, you're kidding yourself if you think there's anyway you can hide the fact that Arsenal were **** poor and should've been beaten comfortably. Good result for your lot, it'll feel like a win, but that's as far as I'll go with any sort of praise.

I never claimed we weren't poor. We quite evidently were. You didn't create any great chances and we're punished when we created the best chance of the match. We were a bit lucky but it was a fair result. You didn't win because you didn't create enough.

I mean, if you had of held out for a 0-0, it would've been frustrating but not near as annoying as this.... as you actually scored without deserving to, rather than getting the 0-0 with your defence/Cech playing somewhat decent.

you actually scored without deserving to

When does a footballer deserve the goal they scored then?
It's their job to take a shot and score a goal.

Giroud did his job, took a shot, scored a goal and it's fully deserved.

We deserved to score because Oxlade-Chamberlain provided a pretty good ******* cross. If not for that, you would have just deserved it. In reality, the stats show that it was a pretty tight affair. Give us credit for restricting you to very few chances.

Funny how the tables are turned here, as when you jammed another result last month at Turf Moore (90+ minute winner) you had only 2-3 shots on target but you "deserved" the win there because Burnley apparently showed too little adventure, but now today when you were pretty much the equivalent of Burnley, you somehow deserved the point whereas Burnley didn't (according to you).

I'm not arsed, if stats say that that game was a fair result, then it should be an ambassador as for how stats can be deceiving.

Don't forget mata's chance in the first half that forced an excellent save from cech...as well as martial's efforts

The chance we created at the death in Turf Moore was an open goal. Squaring the ball to the back post generally doubles the probability of scoring. You created no such chance. I never said Burnley showed too little adventure. I said that we deserved it for created a much better chance than them. It's not hard to understand. The better quality of chances created, the higher the chance of scoring. United had a lot of low quality chances while Oxlade-Chamberlain served an excellent ball on a platter for Giroud. That's all that matters. The stats weren't misleading. There were few good chances created all round. That was the worst I've seen us going foward all season.

I'm not talking about Giroud, I'm talking about Arsenal as a whole. They were second best in every area of the pitch, didn't even match United for fight, and deserved nothing from the game.

But that's football, results like these are hard to take. I'm gutted for Jose and the boys, deserved the win, would've relieved so much pressure.

1 shot on target compared to 5 shows a very tight affair

Our shot on target was a near point black header on Giroud head. Your other 5 were straight at Cech apart from the okay Mata chance. The reality is that we were **** and you weren't creative enough to capitalise.

Not sure about Ibrahimovic, I feel it benefited our play and pressing game generally without him. Personally I feel he just hasn't been anywhere near clinical enough with his chances this season. The difference between us being where we are now in the league and being in the mix at the top is his missed chances this season. Mixed in with today of course. Take the 3 results Arsenal,Burnley and Stoke where we have destroyed them all but not got wins, that is effectively 6 points we should not of dropped.

Yep, it's annoying. We should be joint second at the moment if we just got those wins (whatever crazy scores they could've been), but instead we sit outside the top 4 and Mourinho gets the harsh criticism.
