The Manchester United Thread

Lots more reports in Sweden and Portugal saying Lindelof is a fine deal between 40-45m euros. Zlatan praise for him and recommendation must of been the final seal of approval.

Only seen him him a few times this season and last. Looks very good on the ball and great in the air. Still not the complete package yet, bit rash like Bailly at times. But his Reading of the game and making interceptions is very good. Benfica fans call him the Iceman as he never makes any bad decisions. And all speak very highly of him.

Victor Lindelof is practically with both feet out of Benfica and the destination is Manchester United of José Mourinho.

Luís Filipe Vieira was on Monday in England to finalize the agreement with the administration of the English club and, according to A BOLA, in the incarnated SAD is expected to enter a sum of 45 million euros by the central defender of 22 years - will become the most expensive transfer ever in the Light club.

the amount of the financial transaction may, however, rise to € 60 million, relating to premiums goals.

Nélson Semedo in negotiations

Besides Victor Lindelof, Manchester United and Benfica also talked about Nélson Semedo. But Luís Filipe Vieira is not willing to let another defender out than the Swedish international.

The clubs are already discussing the terms of an agreement that could be sealed in January, but with the commitment of the right-back to complete the current season in Luz.

Ugh, hate when we sign defenders in January...

Two very good signings if they go through. Semedo has been fantastic for Benfica this season both in defence and attack. And would solve our fb positions for years to come. Lindelof was Mou second choice after Bailly so he highly rated him and would have his first and second choice targets in that position :)

If there's one thing mourinho is good at, it's picking up superb CB prospects. If you look at his track record, you have Varane, zouma and bailly...all excellent buys.

Will this be a January deal or buying him January and letting him remain at Benfica until the end of season?

Buying in Jan if your talking linderlof and he will be joining us in Jan. Semedo who we are also in talks with from Benfica will be buying in Jan but signing in summer.

Thanks mate but isn't Semedo according to the article (maybe misread) staying at Benfica and they are not selling him? So they claim anyway at this point.

From what I can gather from Reading around and speaking to SLB fans they will be willing to negotiate a deal now, but only let him leave in the Summer as they don't want to lose both now as they are still in Europe.

From what I can make out, we can buy both but they wouldnt allow them both to leave at the same time. So Semedo would have to stay either on loan or agree a deal for in the summer.

Would be a tad surprised if they did this early? Ok, no doubt he has took the club on a lot just half a season in; deprogramming the "philosophy", restoring attacking football, signed world class players that are actually equipped for the Premier League, etc... But I'd at least see how this season pans out before extending a contract that the ink is probably still fresh on.

I have no doubt he is the man for the job, and I wouldn't moan if he signed an extension, but just think it would be a tad strange, and adds unnecessary spotlight.

Spot on, can't we learn from our mistakes and actually just wait to see how stuff pans out before adding unnecessary pressure. As things stand we aren't even in top 4 this season and yet we're giving a manager a new contract? Yes the performances are a mile better but the results are what truly counts.

Did this Lindelof bloke play for Sweden in the world cup? I don't ever remember seeing him.
