The Manchester United Thread

BTW, how is this forced auto cup scheme with penalty's disgrace STILL going at Utd with seasonies? It's been a good few years of arguments on this now. How are the Yank shithouses STILL getting away with it? That should be an individual choice. Not a frigging requirement. Money making at it's finest.

I honestly think its because there are that many fans that want season tickets, or the day trippers/casuals that will snap up any ticket regardless of price, so if one person stans up and says im not renewing and your taking the ****, there is a never ending queue behind that person all too willing. Ive got a mate that has got 4 season tickets and sells each one match by match. Prices obviously changing depending on opponent/importance of game. City/Liverpool have gone for £200 each in the past because there are mugs out there that will pay anything just to go to a game. When money comes out for cup games, there is somebody there to buy it at face value at the very least regardless of opposition.

Obviously none of that matters to a holder that actually wants to go to every game and not just make money. The green and gold brigade seem to have piped down since we started spending a few quid. You would think a scheme like that would be protested against straight away and scrapped, but like I said, there are that many fans willing to buy a ticket even from the genuine match going holders that cant go to the game, nobody is really arsed. If a season ticket/match ticket had a photo of the holder on, and you couldnt sell your ticket on and get your money back or more, there would be mass protests.

Even so, how can the FA let this exploitation stand? They have finally put a cap on away tickets after years of pressure, and are now bringing in rules that away fans get to sit pitch side in a decent area instead of up in the gods (Newcastle). Thats just to give the impression they do actually care about the everyday working class match going fan. But really we all know they dont give a ****. As long as the big clubs are doing well, signing world class superstars and keeping the reputation of the PL going, they are happy.

The FA supposedly have a fit and proper person test for potential new owners of clubs. Obviously one of their questions isnt, Are you going to fleece your own fans to line your own pockets?

Well Mourinho also said that Sam Johnstone would be the only player leaving on loan, but Riley is just about to join Shef Utd on loan. Tend not to believe anything managers say on transfers. Just read that Rojo has a muscle problem, hopefully just misses Hull game. Would play same team tbh except for Carrick out for Schweinstiger or TFM.

Depends if there was interest or talks ongoing with Riley/Shef Utd at the time of the quote. He cant say yes more players will be leaving if theres nothing on the table.

Manchester United in hunt for new David Beckham after hiring Brighton's highly-rated scout Mark Anderson
  • Anderson started at United this week and will cover the south of England and do some international scouting.
  • Anderson will report to Nicky ****
  • Anderson used to be a scout for Liverpool and is credited with spotting 15-year-old Raheem Sterling at QPR and taking him to Anfield for a nominal fee.
'The Manchester United offer doesn't come along every day,' he said. 'I feel that it is the next part of my development and I feel that I can make a big impact in the London area.

'It goes back some time when the likes of David Beckham came out of London for United, so I want to be able to give some of the young talent another option when the time is right.'

The scout admitted it was not easy to leave Brighton, but said: 'The first team are in a strong position for the Premier League and the academy have gained category one status again for the second time, so I feel I have made an impact and that I'm leaving on a high with great memories.

'The culture and environment is fantastic, hopefully now I can go and make a difference and take players to United.'

Just watched a replay of the Madrid vs Granada game and thought Periera performed very well despite the result. Showed good composure and passing, worked hard for the team and had some quality dribbles skinning Modric and Kroos at one stage.

Just looking at the Chelsea team about to play Peterborough, and the Liverpool side currently on show, their depth isn't even close to ours. We made 9 changes to our starting team, and still fielded a side that would be a top 6 side at the least.

Good times at Old Trafford at the moment, and better on the horizon. :)

Liverpool defo, the Chelsea team name is as good if not better than your second string, and they've named Pedro and Cahill from the first team. 9 changes. but yeah the Liverpool side is very much the "kids in the cup"

No team with Young at Right Back and Fellani is finishing top 6 in England. (both are gash).

Putting some good teams to the sword in this comp!

Utd won in the Final against a very strong Hannover team on penos. Match finished 2-2 with goals from Bohoui and Burkart.

Johnstone looked good for villa made some good saves and could do nothing about the goals

To add to yesterday's discussion, talking to someone earlier who knows about these things, and it turns out match day running costs for an FA Cup game don't fall on individual clubs but come out of the net of the total percentage of everything.

Which considering L'pool ranged from £11-15 today, and they still made a profit, shows how little our actual match day costs are in reality.

There's a lot of context missing there too from L'pool's injury's, long and short term.

But it really is a superfluous debate as it's all down to subjective opinion.

Our U-18's won an indoor tourney in Frankfurt over the weekend too so presumably there's been quite a few of these going on the German break.

Really looking forward to tomorrow's game. Think the team won't be to much different with Herrera and Pogba coming in and Carrick getting a rest. Be nice to get a good 3-0 win and put the tie to bed in this game. Pleased with our lack of injuries this season also.
