Is that even allowed? A bit of rotation is one thing, but surely you can't just deliberately put out a **** team.
You can put out any team you like tbh.

Being in CL I'd argue is easier than Europa, obviously not as a competition but when it comes to fixture congestion and scheduling Europa is an utter nightmare. Which is part of the reason why I don't really like it.
Nine games in April is absurd, let alone with the injuries we've had. Like Jose rightly pointed out, if we had of got through to the FA Cup Semi's, where on earth would they of been scheduled in our fixture list? Being successful in Europa only harms you in other competitions.
Yeah it'll be interesting.. I remember Mick McCarthy getting the book thrown at him for fielding a weak team against us a few years back?
Perhaps. Still doesn't explain City's short price, wdskoul's posts are pretty grounded XD
I'd still have Spurs/Chelsea ahead of us. Both manc clubs need a major injection of talent and fast settling in to mount the challenge. We're both looking at what overturning a 15 point diff to level Chelsea this year nevermind win it.
Juggling European footy will quickly bring that points tally back towards us. If United win even half of those dominated home draws, we're close to them. If De Bruyne puts City 2-0 up against Chelsea it's a 6 pointer and a likely different psychological path. Loads of if's & maybe's, loads of little factors that have contributed to what has been a nice favourable season for Chelsea, but take nothing away from them, they've been ruthless.
But I can still sorta see the bookies logic tbh. The table doesn't tell the complete story. No doubt both clubs will go out on a limb to improve too this summer. Arsenal would be a mad bet given their current state. Spurs have a quality coach & squad, but they're still Spurs, the team to finish 3rd in a 2 horse race. Chelsea will have it tougher next season. It's no coincidence that Liverpool's better league campaigns coincide with no European footy, so it would leave the two Manc clubs as likely candidates along with Chelsea.

Yeah I guess you're right, I mean even if it was forbidden what are FA going to do? Fine the club or fine Mourinho, but who honestly cares, winning EL is a priority.

Someone did it a few seasons back, after the McCarthy incident and the manager said basically whats the point in having a squad, and having to name a squad of players to the FA, if you cant use that squad as and when you see fit. Why have a manager if the FA are going to pick your team? So I think the "play your strongest 11" rule is pretty much void now.
I cant see us fielding a complete u23 team but the ones that have already been in and around the team, and also the lads that have already been called up to match day squads, like McTominay on Sunday, should be allowed to play with no comeback from the FA. Its not like the game will affect Palace or anyone around them either.

Haha, with Shaw out now as well.. could this be a possible lineup? Fellaini will probably start since his red card in PL.. Hope Pogba is back on the bench at least for Thursday and 100% for Arsenal.. Anyone know anything about Baillys injury?

On paper it's not a bad team at all, but if you play like you did on Sunday, you could have Messi up front and you still wouldn't score.
Bailly, Herrera, Pogba, Mata, Mky will all start and Fellaini.
