The Manchester United Thread

I think it is just to bump his price. Inter are interested and looks like they are throwing names liek ManUtd and Madrid to bump his price.

Also he is a winger/AM where we have enough talent.

Saying that I won't be surprised if we are really interested as SAF signed players before they were signed by other teams. Maybe he sees a potential superstar in him.

CM and a LB please.

Absoutely no point in purchasing him. He will cost a lot of money even if he is a potential world-beater which I doubt. You have more than enough talent on the wings and AM role.

Saying that thoug.. I think he is a good player except he is over-hyped and his transfer value is inflated

I agree and that's more or less what I said. But you can always improve on what you have but IMO we have bigger holes in the squad to cover than winger/AM.

If we sign him then I'm sure we won't sign any CM as we need a LB too. Will be one more season ******** about "Wanting a new CM" for us.

Not entirely true, he is a very talented player, a lot of people prefer him to Oscar, he has a great physical prescence, so would fit into the PL well. He is creative, has a fierce long shot and is a very talented player. Fergie might see him as someone like Nick Powell, who he could convert to an area where the team needs, such as maybe a slightly deeper role more of a CM as he is young and still learning the game would be a perfect opportunity to do so.

Oscar would be a better fit, and even he isnt worth it.

Well if the bid has been made for Moura (ok it's an if) Fergie must see him as someone who he can develop to suit the team. Doubt he would buy him to compete for the same place as Kagawa.

It's like Dembele all over again. Why bother? Go and buy an actual CM.

Surely the only scenario in which we'd sign Lucas, is Nani leaving?

I don't know, Modric is probably gone to Real Madrid, Nuri Sahin is being very silly and wanting to stay at Madrid despite not getting any game time hardly.

The other obvious choices is Moutinho who I believe we have not had contact with, maybe Spurs are in the driving seat due to AVB.

Then you have the likes of Strootman and Cabaye (probably pay something hefty to get him off Newcastle).

I can't think of someone else if we are talking about a creative deep-lying type player. Maybe Fergie is looking at options to change to change a player like Moura into that role, he is really good dribbler as well.

Pass. for all the same arguments I put against Dembele. You could definitely get Strootman for less, Moutinho and Cabaye for similar.

I wonder why don't Fergie try Cleverley? He played very well at the beginning of last season before Kevin Davies ruined him.

Not sure whether it's a case of not giving him a chance, I am sure he will have a chance this season but he has been injury prone and I think we need another option CM-wise.

I think Strootman is better, because he is younger and therefore has bags of potential.

Hmmm yeah the only problem is he is an injury prone :/ So maybe Strootman?

One season with a few particularly niggly injuries doesn't make a player injury prone

Tbh Cleverley is as injury prone as Anderson. He has suffered serious injuries every season in last 3-4 years.

Just from top of my head, he was injured that ruled him out for last 2 months for Watford.
Again he missed so many games for Wigan
And last season he was injured for nearly 4 months.

Anyways here is the injury record.
Cleverley injury record.
2007- Ruled out for seven months
2009: Shoulder injury that cut short his loan spell for Leicester.
2009: Watford loan, Knee ligament injury due to which his loan spell ended in April
2010-11: Missed few games for Wigan
2011-12 Barely played and was out for many months.

35 appearances for Watford and 26 for Wigan isn't bad for an emerging player. He's had a few injuries but I wouldn't call him injury prone. Plus 20 appearances this season isn't too bad really - about as much as you might have expected at the start of the season anyway.

RVP has shown that you must stick with players with injury problems. Clevs and Ando are important squad players and more than capable of cementing a first team spot if they stay clear of injury. I do think this will be Anderson's last chance but I really hope we stick with him.

Oscar>Moura from whatever I have seen and read.... Oscar possesses the same attrbiutes as Moura except he is more versatile and complete player. Their is a reason why Oscar is being touted as Brazil No 10 for the 2014 WC ahead of the likes of Ganso, Kaka and Lucas Moura

Anyways if you are looking to convert someone into a CM... You would take Oscar over Moura. Even then though I have my doubts over whether even Oscar can make that transition. For Man Utd's sake.. I hope the Moura transfer is bogus. Does not fill any pressing need in the squad and will be expensive

What I meant is if people call Anderson as injury prone then they have to call Cleverley as one too (My mistake that I didn't mention it. I just copied it from my previous posts when people said Anderson is injury prone whereas Cleverley is not). And yeah we shouldn't sell Anderson. He needs some luck with injuries. In his interview he said he was fully fit at the start of the season then he felt some problem with knee. No wonder his form dropped then. I have high hopes on him and would love if he becomes our first choice CM as he has all the attributes.

And re laughable Oscar and Lucas comparison, good to see people again acting as Brazilian league experts even though (Just guessing) they hardly watch the league. From what I watched for Brazil they didn't even play in same position. One played as CM/AM and other as winger.
