The Manchester United Thread

Dont no what is 38m euros is in pounds but read united only want to pay between 27-30 english pounds. dont think we will sign LB now if brady and blackett impress on tour.

Its around 30Million pounds.

Would not be supprised if this happened tbh then that would be it transfer wise usually you hear things but only seem to read stuff about lucas to united brazil/europe media.

We can buy CM, LB for 30 Million easily.

Was just listening to the world football phone in and Tim Vickery does not think Lucas should move at all yet. Says he had a sensational U20 world cup a few years ago but was fast tracked into the Brazil squad and has had problems. Fell out with Sao Paulo's former manager, struggled to adapt a proper position and has been hot and cold. Thinks he should stay for a year or two, knuckle down and then earn his move properly.

It's a non story, mainly fed by twitter nonsense anyway.

Not just twitter nonsense, the source (link in few posts above) is one of the most reputable paper according to Brazilian.

Lets a think for a second. At what point do you think United will spend 38m euros on a player that raw? That is more than we are willing to pay for a world class player in Modric. It might be in a "reputable" paper, but its a non story that has merely got legs.

Yes, that is bit surprising, but not something we can't or won't. Yes for that money we can get Sahin, LB and spare for Jan window but I won't say it's a non story and not surely just a twitter nonsense.

Hopefully this is just a rumor though, like you said we can get world class players for that price.

It's almost certainly something we wont. Its based on nothing, the story started from the nonsense the mirror ran a few weeks back, and fuelled by twitter. The fact the the original story said Lawlor had gone down to strike a deal points that out.

Didn't their owner say that he rejected ManUtd and Madrid bid? Before that laughed at 20 odd million bid from Inter?

When some team owner lie about the transfer bid then I expect United to squash those rumors saying we didn't. If not the formal bid, I'm sure we have enquired about the availability as their owner himself said it.

United don't quash every rumour, otherwise they would spend every day talking to the Guardian. Team owners make up **** to garner interest, how many times have you heard United in relation to Ganso or Neymar? and when have we even attempted to bring either player in. It's nonsense that is running because the real story is that Nani is yet to strike a deal with the club.

No, owners rarely come out with so and so team made bids. And No santos president didn't tell anything about United making bid.

This is what the owner said
""I can say that we have not yet received an official offer from Inter for Lucas, nor have we received any information about any proposal from them," he told FCInternews.it.

"With regards to the offers from Manchester United and Real Madrid, we are studying them internally. We cannot say anything else for obvious reasons.:

If the owner is not reliable then it is as good as saying every transfer news is a non story.

Not sure how you have come to that conclusion. Zamparini is a good example of owners saying something that has no basis in truth. Just because an owner says something and a club doesn't deny it, doesn't mean there is anything actually behind it.

Because it isn't in the owner's interests to up the prices for their players, is it? Why is it if an agent claims something, it's untrustworthy. If the owner does it, it's gospel. They both share the same motivation to lie.

This is the point i'm making, a perfect example is Zamparini.

Zamparini was not someone who just cooked up something to sell stories, he was very transparent that even when someone enquired about his player it was in paper next day.

Anyways each to their own, imo this story as legs and as proved by quotes, far from twitter nonsense.

Tell me one source that makes the story believable?

Quotes do not prove that this is a story going anywhere. Again you ignore the fact the owner could be playing to the crowd, like an agent does. You've made the very big assumption that the owner is absolutely telling truth.
