The Manchester United Thread

a lot of negative energy......on and off the pitch

Complete, embarrassing joke getting booed off after 1 loss the last 42 at home sitting second the league. But that's a symptom of the 'ideal' home crowd Utd (and L'pool come to that) have built for themselves. Day-trippers from all over (not just England, but the World) who'll come and spend shed loads on merchandise and club tours and who really don't have a clue on what Utd means nor how to behave/ get behind the team the game.

And sadly there's no way that's EVER changing now and going back to what it was. It just is what it is, what clubs want, 'customers' not fans, as money is the be all and end all in today's game.

That's 2 fullbacks for the price of strikers.

You think we'd out spent him by 200mil+ and not 40m difference reading that. lol. We are a team in transition from the old guard to young surprised we didnt spend more.. lol.

Mou should really think before saying.
Mendy has played 5 games only, 4 in PL.
Danilo has played 19 games, 9 in PL.

They have freaking Delph as FB who cost like 10mil.

A mate of mine was at the match yesterday and said people were booing like mad when Miki and especially Lingard names where called out coming on. Idiots!

It's not really where we are in the league tbh, it's more about the football we play and our identity, which there is none.

Ok you can say that you don't necessarily need to play one way to win competitons. But I look at some of the best clubs right now and they have a brand of football they truly believe in which they go into every game confident they can beat the other team with that style.

There might be slight variations here and there, but with Mourinho it's like one week he wants us to play one way and then next week a totally different way.

I always knew Mourinho wasn't going to develop us long-term, but man... I miss United and the old days when we had a an identity to our football and a true winning mentality.

Yes that fchanged in the latter years of Fergie but you still got that winning mentality throughout. Even when we were playing gash, I always thought we could beat the opponent.

LVG was far from perfect, but even he had a philosophy he truly believed in. It was an outdated one and that showed but against the big teams he was a lot better than Mourinho.

Mourinho should defo be getting more from this squad. But it’s a mess. A lot of decent/good players bought over to longer period of time. Can’t believe we have no real LB or cover. No cover at RB. No RW or cover there. No LW cover. No Pogba cover. Yes we have spent money very poorly under Moyes, LVG and later Fergies years imo. Time to be ruthless in the next 2 windows. And Mourinho needs to be doing better also.

Pep rep had a better starting place than Mourinho and has been backed and clinical in shipping out players and getting quality players in.

Getting fed up of not having players playing in there natural positions and not having a settled starting 11 each week. In reality we are were we deserve to be right now in the league.

you are spot on,we have no settled side at all.I honestly dont believe mourinho knows his best side which is worrying but i have faith in him,the board may not be so forgiving if we carry on slipping up and dropping down the table

Least under Mourinho his transfer make sense and seem to be planned. I don’t think he’s been ruthless enough or I don’t know what. But if everyone is fit I guess most starters would be

GK DDG
LB?
CB Bailly
CB Lindelöf if settled better
RB Valencia

CM Pogba
CM Matic

#10?
RW?
LW Martial

ST Lukaku

But even then there’s still problems with the quality in depth.

Quality of depth is interesting tough and how different managers can handle the situation. Having youngsters or starish players who might upset the team chemistry if not managed well.

Why Mou decided to sell Depay and Morgan? As I understanded they didint fit his plan and Morgan wanted to be regular.
But how it will work IF you get some of your big names like Grizz, Bale, Dyabala? Will you just assume Martial, Rashford and Mata will just be happy bench players?

Memphis on the face of it was just a bad buy. LVG who maged him before couldn’t get consistent performances out of him. And he’s been the same in France. Mourinho was right to get rid and for a good fee too. Morgan wanted to be a first team regular and again shown for us and Everton that he’s no where near the required level to be a starter for a top side. Didn’t even fit LVG style of play. Poor but again. And did well to get a good fee for him.

Well the players mentioned wouldn’t effect Martial on the left anyway. And Rashford should be back up to him and Lukaku at this point in his career still getting plenty of mins. Honestly don’t think Mata would mind his role in the team as long as he’s contributing and the team is doing well. Which we are.

What I find odd is that the man is supposed to be this master of defensive organization and tactics, but you're actually leaking a lot of stupid goals, and a lot of the defensive players have regressed. His first year I could sort of understand it, because he probably wanted to go with a bit more relaxed approach after Van Gaal drilled them until they bled.

Back when Jose arrived everybody thought Smalling, Shaw and Darmian will be core players for years to come, but now they all seem finished, backline is in constant state on flux and you'll probably need heavy reinforcements all across the back four.

And this is under famed expert defensive manager who can supposedly turn a training cone into world class defender.

****'s weird.

Darmian was bought under LVG. And who ruined him from the player he was at Torino. Use to be good at the back, even when called upon at CB. And was good going forward getting in good crosses and assist, even chipping in with goals. LVG seemed to have coached the attacking life out of him and has just regressed further and further ever since till now. Didn’t cost us too much and will likely get our money back, even make a little.

Shaw has been injured to much and when he hasn’t he’s been lacking in training. Still suffering from cramps now the back end of games. Least his form has been good now for his last 4/5 games and is back in the squad regular.

Smalling is just to inconsistent and looks like the football is a bomb ready to explode when it’s at his feet. And can’t stay fit for a season, like all the rest of our CBs. We need to get Bailly and Lindelöf playing together week in week out. But ones not settle as quick and the other has the CB curse atm lol. And FBs we are in dire needs there!

Im sure he’s won the Prem. And cups since then including a European trophy.

Jesus the so-called ‘European Trophy’ he won was a second-tier competition where there was a huge gap in resources between United and the other clubs. Credit to him for winning it but lets not pretend its a very prestigious trophy.

Wow look at you lol. Any European trophy is great to win.

Great to win does not mean its a prestigious trophy. Jose himself disparaged it when he came to Chelsea in order to try and mock Benitez.
I couldn’t give two ***** what he thinks about it. As a fan I’m delighted winning any piece of silverware. Don’t get people that belittle cups etc.

You miss the point completely. You can be delighted with winning the trophy and yet agree that its not a prestigious cup.
