The Manchester United Thread

Another **** Poor performance from the forwards thankfully Lingard knows where the goal is.

I am getting more and more convinced that Rashford can't play winger.. His crossing is atrocious. :'(

Jose is best at defensive organisation, even at that, we are conceding silly set piece goals. Early days, but questions will soon be asked unless things pick up. I'm behind him as much as the next United fan, but fact is he's spent a lot of money and we play the worst football in the top 6 (maybe joint with Chelsea) and still look 3-4 players short.

Perhaps instead of signing a host of tall players and 2way wingers that'll excel under Jose, maybe we just need a Pochettino, Sarri or Tuchel in the summer to get the best of the talent we already have?

Every manager post Fergie has had a predominant pragmatic approach, maybe that's where we go wrong.

Last min equaliser against top 4 contenders = Champions form

(shamelessly stolen from someone else but still funny... :p )

Personally I think a strong leader in defence is needed, Rojo has clearly lost something since his injury, Jones is good on his day but too injury prone, Smalling is a mistake waiting to happen, Lindelof is still finding his feet (literally in some games), whilst Baily probably the best of the lot is out for the rest of the season. A no nonsense back in the Bruce, Vidic, or dare I say it Terry mode is what is needed to get the defence to pay attention.

Mourinho on the £300m he has spent so far: “It is not enough - Manchester City are buying full-backs for the price of strikers. The price for big clubs are different to the price for other clubs.”

I can't wait for Woodward to splash some cash on proper Fullbacks and Wingers, maybe even another midfielder since Carrick is old, Fellaini injured/gone

That's 2 fullbacks for the price of strikers.

You think we'd out spent him by 200mil+ and not 40m difference reading that. lol. We are a team in transition from the old guard to young surprised we didnt spend more.. lol.

300m spent and he's saying we can't compete with other clubs ****** joke. Mourinho is finished and so is our season. We're not winning **** of significance whenever we come up against big teams we act like a team of firefighters trying to contain a fire rather than actually trying to win the game.

The only thing I have got from this season is questions and not many answers.

What if we actually went into the games against City, Liverpool etc with a desire and approach to win the game.

What if we actually had a manager who actually treated us like a big club.

Ffs, Mourinho annoys the **** out of me and especially when he says such absolute rubbish like he has today about not having enough to spend.

The fact is he or the team haven't been good enough to contend with City. Can't we just have the honest truth.

I'd like someone else as manager but I don't even know where we go if we do. It's like starting from total scratch and if we did it would be Mourinhos team under someone else... To start with anyway.

Imagine getting someone like Lukaku to put in a shift like Kane does if we got someone like Pochettino or some other demanding manager.

I think Lukaku hasn't been totally bad this season but the more it goes on the more you see how flawed his game is.

Long term IDK where we heading but for now got to keep with Mourinho

Lol is he really going to use spending as an excuse. Both managers had the same amount of time, and they took over teams that finished the season equal on points, separated only by a goal difference. After 2 years they've spent roughly the same, and now you're unable to compete. It's almost like the other guy is buying better. Lindeloff and Miki have both been duds, Pogba is good but he's not nearly 100 million good, and you're spending outrageous amount of wages on a 36-year old hasbeen, while most of Pep's signings are in their early 20s and can potentially dominate for a decade.

On the plus side, you've Southampton Sat'day who are woefully bad and headed one way under Pellegrino.

SURELY he won't park the bus against them at home?

Maybe it's time to let James Wilson have ago upfront (or at least from the bench).

I've been a critic of Lindelof but I wouldn't classify him as a "dud" yet.

Its really quite simple tbh. Pep has bought far better in the transfer market as you pointed out and Mourinho’s old strategy of beating the smaller teams and not losing to the big teams to win the league is useless when you have City going for (and getting) 3 points every game.

United are actually doing pretty well this season by historical standards but City have just been absurdly good. To add to that, Lukaku has not looked like a £100m player either.
