The Manchester United Thread

Played **** won and got the 3 points. Great goal. Jones and Smalling fantastic. Keeps the momentum going. Now unviel Sanchez :)

We lack the maturity, composure and decisioning to execute our opponents.. Hope Alexis can bring that. Important 3 points today!

Get that with Young players like Martial and Rashford. Lukaku feeding off scraps as Lingard and Mata poor today. Hate 4231!!!

It will be even more important if a miracle happens and Newcastle get something in the game against City.

Two youth players start and two on the bench... 3,901 consecutive first team #mufc matches with Academy graduate in the squad... #80yr #history #youth #culture @ManUtd

Woody :)

Congratulations to Ed Woodward on arguably the best deal in recent years. A straight swap between Alexis Sánchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan with no fee involved. Unbelievable steal.

Great deal when it goes through, but don't think Arsenal have got that bad out of it considering the dire situation they were in over Sanchez.

Still, delighted if we get Sanchez.

Unbelievable steal? WTF am I reading in here. Miki is worth what, 40-50 million, while Sanchez was on Bosman. Basically you paid $50 milllion in value for a player who was free. It's certainly a steal, but not for you, it's for them.

I have no idea where you've been in last 2 years, but Mkhitariyans stock has fallen since he's doing **** all. No way he's worth 30m. Plus United is getting rid of a player who they do not use, for a star player. Good deal imo, for both parties.

I have no idea where you've been in last 2 years, but player values have catapulted into orbit. You bought Miki 2 years ago for 40 milllion pre-Neymar. Even though his reputation took a bit of a dive, the value at the very least stayed level and most likely went up.

40 million???

He cost 27 million and has done nothing to raise that valuation, with the increase in transfer fees he could be said to be around the same value. Given City were apparently willing to pay around 30 I would say its pretty decent value. Sanchez is a world class player who we got in exchange for a player who has hardly played this season and looked pretty awful when he did. Would say it is a very good deal for both sides, he would have cost 60 million 4 months ago

Relax guys, I meant $.

Oh but I'm not saying it's a bad deal for you. If he plays like he did when he still tried in Arsenal, it's a great deal. But at the same time you solved a huge problem for them. He was about to either leave on a free or be sold for peanuts. Instead they got a high value player in a swap.

We would've sold Mkhi at a small loss in the summer. Probably 20M. Definitely wouldn't have surpassed for 30M value Sanchez was going for this January. Turning 30 next season, would've been into 2nd last year of contract, and his form since signing has hardly raised his value.

In my opinion, it's a good deal for all parties. Arsenal were going to lose him for nothing, so instead, they got a talented player. We were going to sell Mkhi anyway, but instead, we used him as a bargaining chip to sign a world class player.

Win win all round.

I dont like nitpicking, but i have to. You kinda did say it was bad for United.
United pretty much got back what they spent on Mkhitariyan and Sanchez is a clear upgrade. Most important part, United got him now, when they need him. He was free in the summer and A) United kinda needs him now B ) He would probably chose City in the summer if they came again. He was never going for cheap, Arsenal refused Citys offer (around 25m ish). Its a really good deal for United, decent for Arsenal. At least they got something in return, unlike in RVP deal.

[FONT=&quot]EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan agrees move to Arsenal in a deal that will see Gunners forward Alexis Sanchez go opposite way. It’s a straight swap, no money involved. Paperwork complete, Mkhitaryan will undergo a medical over the next 2 days #MUFC #AFC

Pretty much confirmed. Should be done by Monday.

Jones has played every minute of 13 out of United's 15 clean sheets this season, impressive stat for him. He has been looking really good recently but always have that worry with him.

Also heard on the stream I was watching of the Burnley game that Defour is the only player to score from outside of the box against De Gea which is an impressive feat for De Gea to only let one in from range

Sanchez isn't on a Bosman. Last time I checked he couldn't move now for free.
