The Manchester United Thread

Meh, can never be sure. Ronaldo being Ronaldo. It's just insane how the freakish things he does is now seen as a norm. Football will go back to normal once he & Messi hang up the boots, you'd imagine.

I kind of feel bad for De Gea, he's a great player, but when it comes to NT I don't think anyone could fill the big shoes left by Casillas who was their goalkeeper, captain and a lucky charm who always showed up when team needed him the most.

Yeah Dave defo staying. Alisson close to Madrid. Loads of reports last 2 days that his contract is all but signed. Best signing of the summer :)

De Gea after the match: “If we are going to bench a player who’s playing fine because of one mistake........... I don’t feel very much support in Spain. The criticism of me is very bad.”

David de Gea (to Onda Cero): "I think the Spanish sports critic are worse on me for some reasons, I don't see them talking good about me. I think there are a lot of people who did not defend me when they should have defended me."

Its ok Dave we love you :)(6)

Eh, they also had Puyol who was rock-solid and organised the defence. The WC after he retired, their defence went to dogs. Plus, with Biscuits, Xavi, Xabi Alonso, they controlled the midfield, so it's not like opponents had some great number of shots to test Casillas. He was great, no doubt, but a large part of that also plays out for their defence and midfield at that time.

Christ. de Gea should trying being Karius if he wants to know what constantly being under the microscope with atrocious media abuse/ criticism is like. He’s not much cop but he’s held up to a completely different level of criticism to most anyone else the media.

He done that last night for Germany he’d of been evicerated the media all night long.

Quit whining Dave hey? Spains criticism is child’s play by comparison.

He's right though.

The fact that Karius gets more, mostly from his own fans telling him to get cancer, isn't really relevant. So not really sure why you've shoe horned that in

Even despite De Gea's bad mistake last night, it's still not comparable to Karius.

Karius literally thrown away (no pun intended) your CL final hopes and mayswell of stood up there lifting the trophy for Madrid by the end.

Nice deflection Mike from the completely different standard of criticism L’pool goalkeepers/ defenders are held to in the media. Something your very quick and guilty of running with on here. None of our ‘keepers are much cop but the media abuse has been disgraceful oft times.

The absolute low life bellends on social media (they aren’t ‘fans’) just feed off that narrative.

What are you babbling about. I'm literally onky talking about what de Gea gets with Spain. I couldn't give a monkeys about Liverpool. This isn't about Liverpool. It's about de Gea and Spain. And yes, they are are your fans, no matter how much you dislike them.

Right. This isn’t about L’pool. So don’t bring them and their fans into it. As you did. Needlessly.

It was a point on criticism and de Gea’s being nothing compared to what Karius would have gotten if he made the same mistake last night. Completely different level of media scrutiny.

Meh, Shaw, idk what to think anymore. We seem to always get this narrative before a season about him.

Don't you mean glutton Scouse ;) Mind you maybe Shaw is counting on a Jose 3rd season blow up!

De Gea was in that position years ago, before Karius was ever on the seen though, remember when he first started? You couldnt watch a united game without the pundits saying he is out of his depth and will never make it both before and after the match, and the papers slaying him in morning and evening editions, not to mention a lot of united fans who now love De Gea (I don't mean anyone is this thread btw) hated him and wanted him gone for the amount of mistakes he made.

De Gea proved those people wrong and became one of the, if not the best, in the world. He is well within his rites to not be happy with the stuff being said about him.
