The Manchester United Thread

I agree to a certain extent, he did well at Wigan and on our pre-season tour last year but is he really good enough to replace paul scholes? I don't think so, besides nasri for 10-15 mil is a steal.

Even Nasri is not good enough to replace Scholes.. If we sign Nasri also we will go for new CM. So if we sign Nasri means even less game time for Cleverley..

Was just about to post this! I hope he stays and isn't loaned out again. If he plays well for the U21's and has a good pre-season, there is a chance that he could break into the team, particularly with his versatility. I want to see him and Anderson given a serious chance this season, and I really don't want Nasri.

Of all the players we have been linked with, only Luka Modric, Alexis Sanchez, Pato Rodriguez and Bastien Schweinsteiger excite me. None really look that likely at the minute, but I'd be content to go into the seaon with De Gea, Young and Jones coming in, along with Cleverley, Welbeck and Macheda returning.

Yeah, U21 is very important for him to prove his worth one more time. He has done it on so many times, it will be just one more time..

Have you seen Pato Rodriguez play? What sort of player is he..

And we are not linked with Bastian mate. He has signed contract and thats it. We can't afford him. It is Bayern we have to deal with.. No chance..

And I think we have to sign one more CM for sure. Cleverley is not a CM. We have Fletcher, Carrick, Anderson as CM along with Giggs who can play there. So we are very weak in that department. We need to sign one for sure..

I don't see what other options we have though, with sneijder and modric both now probably out of the picture and gibson likely to go to sunderland that leaves us with 4 centre mids.

I think we will go for Modric if not him then Defour whom we have scouted for so long..

I know we have no chance of Schweinsteiger, but there was a rumour a while back and he is one player that I really do rate. I'm sure Cleverly can play cm, Park too, but we could do with a more creative player to replace Scholes/Giggs. Rodriguez is creative and attacking, although when I saw him he was playing in a wide position. He is very direct and a good dribbler too, I think he'd be worth the risk

I actually forgot about defour, he shouldn't cost that much either paying for standard liege. I've never seen him play though how do you rate him?

Park can play in a midfield 3, not in 4-4-2. Thats the problem. I haven't seen Cleverley playing as a CM. I have seen him playing as LW and AM. He has all the attributes to cement his place as a CM, but I think he needs time and he would be great in midfield 3..

I will be very honest and tell that I have seen only youtube videos as I dont watch Belgian league. But from what i have read, he has good passing range and work rate.

I watched Defour a few times in europe, he looks a decent player and I think he'd fit in really well at United. He's got that real desire and work rate that United demand, and is a real driving force for Standard Liege, a bit like Gerrard has been for 'pool

Pato Rodriguez

Absolute gem of a player - ran rings around our defense, and although we were cheated out of that game the guy deserved the three points.

Creative, quick, good dribbler and can play AMRCL. He's a little selfish, though, but that's probably because the rest of his team sucks balls bigtime.

He seems to have the attributes to be a quality winger, so I'm not sure how much interest there will be on United's part, especially with the imminent signing of Ashley Young

We'll, he's done well as a winger but he's also done very well as an 'enganche', so he can also play behind the striker/s if required. Wouldn't know if there's much truth in the rumours, plenty has been said but you never know, our press is far worse than yours when it comes to transfer stories.

They can't be anymore dumber. He had a chance to choose between United, Arsenal and Liverpool. That means Rovers had allowed him to talk to clubs. So all the clubs knew the release clause.

The release clause is there and when it is met, the current club of the player must allow the player to speak with the club that came in with the bid. So basically Man Utd met the release clause and then went on and discussed personal terms with Jones and done the medical check up, but now they're claiming that Man Utd is tapping him up? If so, what is the point of a release clause? And they're asking why do Man Utd know about the release clause? My God, this is not the co-ownership thingy in Italy in which clubs have to make undisclosed offers for the player to see which club rates the player higher and thus resulting the player going there, this is simply a release clause. Sahin also had a release clause in his contract but Dortmund never made a fuss about it.

In my opinion, this is just a case of the chicken owners trying to squeeze more from Man Utd, seeing how Man Utd had just come in and made an offer immediately meeting the release clause, making them to believe that Man Utd wouldn't mind paying even more than that.

**** they paid 23 Million for entire club and wants 25 Million for one player.. Sigh,..

I've not seen anything of Defour... What's he like? And how much would he be likely to cost Utd (bearing in mind what Mike. said about a first refusal agreement with Standard)?

Read that he might cost less than 15 Million. He signed long term contract last season. So maybe 15Million max i think.

There are reports that Valencia are willing to sell Banega for less than 10 Million pounds. Would like to see him at United. Class CM..
