The Manchester United Thread

To be fair - there's taking a risk, and there's signing a completely unproven (even in the Portuguese 2nd Division) 20 year old for £7m when your manager has never seen him play and he was available on a free something like 2 weeks before you made your move.

Super Agents ftl.

Sending a guy on loan to a Turkish club isn't really meant to give him playing time in my eyes.

So what's the deal with phil jones. You know I have going to bed for 4 days hoping that when I wake up the deal will be officialy confirmed. Please anybody tell me the real situation, I don't care young signs or not i want jones at any cost.

The latest news is that you personally have to give Steve Kean a ******* before dancing around the room singing 'Sweet Caroline' into a banana.

That's your dream, isn't it? To give Steve Kean a ******* before performing 'Sweet Caroline' in front of the whole Blackburn squad.

You disgusting child.

So what IS the deal with Jones exactly? All gone a bit quiet recently.

Joss, please. Jealousy is a terrible thing.

Venky's want £25m because they don't understand Jones' contract. Or Manchester United don't and Venky's are the only ones that do. United triggered a £17m release clause in his contract, went on to discuss personal terms, gave Jones a medical (which he initially failed? And then seemed to miraculously pass a day later) and were set to sign him until Venky's tried to royally **** them over. THEY claim that Jones' release clause only allows another club to discuss personal terms with the player, before making another, more substantial bid (which they suggest should be £25M!). Venky's football advisers (love that they need them) are on United's side, though and insist it's not that complicated.

In no way am I jealous of your wet-dreams featuring Tony Pulis and Steve Kean.

If it's a clause that only allows you to discuss personal terms with the player when met, but still means that you have to bid more to get your man, then that is one of the most retarded clause I've ever seen.

.

Release clause is 16 Million and he didn't fail medical. How can a player who is all set to play in U21 championship can fail medical? That was all twitter rumor.

Venkys knows fuckall about release clause and they dont have any grounds to win this case if this goes to court.. Without Blackburn approval no way we can conduct medical, now that Venkys (According to media) didn't understand what release clause means are holding for more money which no one will be paying..

Still, a loan to a Turkish team shouldn't fill with confidence...

A loan move to a side, In Europe playing with some international stars, getting a run in the first team, shouldnt fill anyone with confidence... Right

I think Besiktas missed out on the CL if that's what you mean by "In Europe", rather than geographically.

They're in the EL having won the Turkish Cup on pens, though.

Surely if they've got so many international stars - Bebe isn't guaranteed a run in the first team? Playing Reserve football/benchwarming in Turkey wouldn't fill me with confidence, personally but what do I know.

But Besiktas wouldn't want to loan Bebe if they don't need him, right?

I meant EL, hence why i said Europe not Champions league.

Bebe will get games, otherwise why would they loan him? If they brought him for the future. loaning isnt the best policy. Turkey is a tough league, It will hopefully make him physically stronger, and toughen him up abit. And i trust Sir Alex Ferguson judgement over anyones elses, But what do i know.

He will get more game time there than at United. Would love to see him going to team in the league or championship. Maybe his future lies there..

Loaning is a good policy if they plan to sign him for the future. Test him rather than doing what Utd did and just going ahead and signing him on the basis of a couple of friendlies in Portugal.

There is nothing to suggest they have a clause to buy him, other then Rumours. So for me, he will get games, and Fergie will make a decisiom on him next summer.

I don't think SAF would send him to Turkey unless:

A) He's been guaranteed some first team football
B) He's keen to get rid

I'm sure a number of championship clubs would have taken him on a season long loan if SAF wanted to give him a full season of first team football, so it sounds likely that were trying to move him on

Tom Cleverley wants to save Manchester United cash put aside for replacing Paul Scholes.

Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson is planning major surgery on his midfield following the retirement of Scholes and Owen Hargreaves' release.

Aston Villa's £15m England winger-***-forward Ashley Young is set to be imported as part of the strategy and United fans are hoping that the stellar signing of Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder comes off.

But 21-year-old Cleverley is aiming to build a case for his name to be in the frame.

The midfielder begins England Under 21s European Championship bid in Denmark against Spain and, after a successful season on loan at Wigan, hopes to remind Fergie that he can cut it in the competitive jungle of the Reds engine room next season.

“Paul Scholes' boots are very big ones to fill,” Tom told M.E.N Sport.

“He's been a winner and a great player. Any team is going to miss a player of that ability. But as always somebody has to step up. You hope that given the chance you can, along with everyone else, give something so he is not missed as much.

“I hope I can put my case forward and save the club some money. Wigan have helped me and I feel I am ready to tackle the job at United.

“I have spoken to the manager. We have had two or three discussions. They were good chats and he will be speaking to me again after the European Championships.

“I know United will be buying players this summer. The reality is that United are the biggest club in the world so they are going to be interested in the best.

“They will be linked with players and they will buy top players. You grow up at the club knowing that will be the case. That is part of the challenge.

“But we all know the manager promotes young home grown players so you have to show you are good enough. After the experiences at Wigan I know what it takes now at Premier League level. I want to be part of the manager's plans.”

In a bid to improve his Old Trafford portfolio Cleverley was a keen student at Wembley when United were taken apart by Barcelona in the Champions League final.

“As a United player and fan it wasn't a great experience at Wembley but as part of my education it was a massive lesson for me,” added Tom.

“From my point of view to study at close quarters Messi, Xavi and Iniesta was invaluable. Messi is wonderful but I think I can model my game on Xavi and Iniesta and also Pedro.

“The movement from those guys is incredible. They are not massive physically but they stay on the ball. They shield it so well. They used their body brilliantly.

“I need to get that into my game. My upper body strength has to be better but it is not all about working out in the gym it is also about how you use your body.

“They also out think opponents and that is something else I need to learn from them.

“Hopefully picking up those bits and bobs plus all the experience I will get at the European Championships will mean I will be a better player and ready for the challenge at United.”

Would love to see him getting games next season and hopefully we wont sign Nasri. Previously I wanted Nasri to join, but not now. Forgot about our own gem. He has done well at the clubs he has been and deserves chance with us. He did well in the last year pre season and was loaned out. Now with a PL experience, he can only become better player..

I agree to a certain extent, he did well at Wigan and on our pre-season tour last year but is he really good enough to replace paul scholes? I don't think so, besides nasri for 10-15 mil is a steal.
