The Manchester United Thread

Well, he's reported as telling the upper echelons of the Madrid hierarchy that he didn't feel 'loved' at Madrid, so your logic kind of gets flushed down the toilet, if those reports are to be believed.

That's not my logic though, posted by "Football Jokes" account on twitter ;)

Wonder how much it would cost someone to buy out his contract so he becomes a free agent and can move to United for free ;)

Got to say I enjoyed this line:

"He did not deserve our city and our shirt and the values it represents," Fiorentina said in a statement.

So what was up with those values during the match-fixing scandals, eh?

To be honest, I side with Berbatov on this one. To leave him out the Cl final squad, and take Owen despite finishing as top scorer, was incredibly harsh. I certainly feel he could have been treated better, he deserved it too.

Ferguson had a sound reason for doing so though in my opinion- If you were trailing a game with 15 minutes to play, anyone would rather have Owen on the bench rather than Berbatov

But in every other occasion, you'd rather have Berbatov. Berba's hardly a mug when it comes to poaching a goal anyway.

Agreed although I just feel Ferguson had a sound reason for leaving him out of the CL finals though Berbatov was harshly treated last season and good on him that he moved

Berbatov would have been more suited for that game, can score himself, and is much better bringing others into play. Besides we had Hernandez.

Meh i'd feel the same if i got frozen out after being top scorer, especially if my team were screaming out for my kind of player at times.

Berba has a point, he deserved much better treatment. Top scorer but was still frozen out of the squad and was not even sold.

Although I appreciate the fact he was top scorer, you have to remember a lot of his goals came in particular games, they were not spread out completely, all goals are vital though.

I think Fergie does not like Berbatov's 'style' work rate, which I honestly think is stupid as we paid so much for him, surely he realised that before we bought him.

From a United point of view I am honestly not too bothered, considering we have RVP/Rooney/Hernandez/Welbeck, my only gripe is that Hernandez should be playing more, his direct runs would free up more space for players like Kagawa.

He scored in more games than anyone in the league except Tevez (who scored in 2 more game I think) but Tevez took all the penalties and Berba scored all his goals from open play.

Wonderful article by ROM.

STATS: Yeh but Berba has only scored in a few games…

So his goals are as evenly spread as any of our previous top scorers.

Exactly. He was same before he joined us, at least should have offloaded him last season rather than saying he is important first team player.

Yeah from United pov it's not bad, but IMO Berba has every right to say what really happened in the last year. So I couldn't really blame him for the interview (heard that media left out few important words to make interview looks like an attack on Fergie, he said he couldn't say bye to Fergie as he was not available, but media made it sound like he didn't want to)

Darren Fletcher named in Champions League squad (group stage). Excellent news for him

Very very pleased. Genuinely thought his career would be over, never been so happy to be wrong.
