The Manchester United Thread

That’s true but you can only do so much when nearly all your squad has only been together fully for 3/4 session.
Why can’t people just be a bit ****** rational at times ??‍♂️
Yes I understand the frustration of signings but signings are not going to help in games like this. We had the same issue against Leeds and suprise suprise the best player on the pitch was Salah. Who is like CR7 when it comes to maintaining his fitness and professionalism off the pitch.

Fitness shouldn't be a concern for any team, mate, given the short turnaround.

Lack of rhythm no question and getting re-acquainted with partnerships and team patterns etc.

But no team should significantly have lost fitness as things are as opposed to a normal pre-season break.

Tbf, we do live in unprecedented circumstances. Our last official match for example was vs Sevilla on August 16th. The players get 2 weeks off followed up by a week of training and then followed up by one game against A villa. This happened to be our only preseason game so we didn't really have a preseason

You underestimate footballers and their lack of professionalism when given downtime. Only have to look at some who we're only given two weeks off still coming back with Covid positives. Heck Utd captain out here going Mykonos with half the team and getting in trouble. Only the professional players have looked the part since the restart.

And players today that are on individual programmes all year round don't F lose fitness in that time.

There's a genuine argument for any club with a lack of rhythm. We suffered last week through sloppiness with that against Leeds. But fitness wasn't and shouldn't be an issue to any significant degree right now the short turn-around.

Haven't been on in a few weeks so I've no idea what the narrative has been, but I hope everyone's as angry with the club as I've been? Tight-fisted, cowardly b*****ds this summer.

Glad to see that result today. Hopefully a wake-up call. Palace were superb at suffocating space and made it impossible to sustain possession in their third of the pitch. If only there was a creative player who excelled being a 360 attacker in tight spaces...

Could be in Germany somewhere. Wild guess

Then that's on them and their individual clubs if they've been living it up.

But even at that, their fitness should not have dropped to any significant degree. This isn't the 80's or before.

But this situation is for everyone and all players and team are in the same pool.

Maguire is frustrating at this stage. Feel like that CB partnership are always gonna cost you 5-10 silly goals a season between them, which is ridiculous. Pogba must still have the COVID or something, was really poor out there with no desire or attitude to right his wrongs, unlike Bruno. To be fair to the front 3, they were completely suffocated. Need a player who can receive and create in those tight spaces in these type of games because we don't have offensive fullbacks who'll stretch the pitch with quality service. Martial can do it to an extent but it's v.difficult doing it receiving in the heart of the congestion. James isn't that. Rashford isn't that. Greenwood isn't that (more about receiving and looking for a yard). We badly need Sancho.

Think it is near or on boxing day unfortunately

Oh well then. According to all the ******** pundits, you'll be gone by then as Leeds can't keep it up.

Obviously the last few years of 46 game season's under Bielsa where Leeds have been as strong on the last day as they were the opening game haven't actually happened and this is just something he's trying the PL ......

I'm still outstanded by how we paid 80 million for such a limited defender tho. He has the pace of a turtle but he wasn't as culpable as his colleague tho.

There was one play in the 2nd half that summed up Pogba's game. He misplaced a pass (unforced) to a palace player and Bruno tracks him back and wins the ball cleanly. He passes back to pogba who literally misplaces the very next pass. Outstanding! Idk he still had some residue of COVID, maybe he should've started on the bench in Van der beeks place instead.
