The Manchester United Thread

.@ManUtd assistant Mark Dempsey - who worked with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Cardiff and Molde before joining him at Old Trafford - is switching to a new role with the club’s Academy. #MUFC

We've also added Rick Ashcroft who will join from Rochdale where he was the Head Of Coaching. He will work with the u14s.

Adam Lawrence will join us from Charlton where has worked for 8 years and was their Head Of Coaching. He will be working with our u16s..

I think I saw at somepoint camera pointing to him and seems like he was wondering if he can make more subs :D

But yeah that sub was very strange. Wasted those subs, even James or Mata would have offered a bit more than those two subs.

Another question is pointing to the coaching staff. Are they that innept to give suggestions and point out things to Ole? If these kind of tactical change is done for back 5 and sudden chaos in backline like they never played like this - dont the do it in training sessions?
Problem is we change formation from match to match for god knows whatever reason. Playing a game every 3 days of coarse you ain’t gonna get enough time in training to drill any tactic correctly. Just ****** pick one stick with it and train said tactic. Not rocket science. As for coaches McKenna is a great coach especially in attacking plays. Been praised at all the clubs he’s worked at. Been a key figure in our academies transition and play style. Phelan was talked about glowingly by Fergie as a defensive coach. And all the players left and still here all talk about Carricks knowledge of reading the game. McTominey and especially Fred recently have praised him for there improvements.

It’s honestly hard to post anything substantial with Ole in charge, the good, the bad and the ugly, can all be seen in our last two games. The good being that we do have a mentality to fight back in games, but everything else is *****. We are constantly outperformed in games, especially in the first half, the difference is you can’t get away with it against a good team like Leipzig.

This board never acts until it’s too late, they honestly probably think we’re going places with Ole. Look at that clown Woodward recent comments, already talking about a long term strategy and backing Ole in the summer, **** off.

Its all just a joke, don’t expect it to change though, they won’t sack him any time soon.

U dont change it that often. And 5 at back has been played before. Also playeres weaknes are known even to fans. It is known that AWB tucks in more at defense and relies too much on his last minute amazing tackle. Why dont work on it and guide Ole to use tactics that make sense and play on players strenght, thats why they are there. There is reason why world class managers have their specific staff following them, they cant do all the work themselve.

Ofcourse Ole shoul be the main one in blame, but the backstaff is his responsibility also and think theyr work is reflected also on the pitch. Have never heard player saying bad words specificly to backroom coach, ofcourse they praise them. After all they are Machester United veterans. Something is wrong in that communication and department.

You've hit the nail on the head with the comment about players not bad mouthing coaching staff but that's only when the staff are still around ;) once they have left it is a different matter ... Then it becomes open season on complaining.

Dont know what’s going wrong it’s a mess but I seriously put it down more on Ole. Phelan and McKenna are good coaches. And there’s no doubt that players like McTominey and especially Fred have improved no end working with Carrick.

Not that it matters or in anyway excuses last nights result. But there 3rd goal should of been chalked off. Having watched the match again and a few replays of different things during the game. The ball clearly hits Nkunku arm which deflects the ball past Maguire.

And having defended DDG on here last week his part in that goal was absolutely disgraceful. It’s like he has a block when needing to come off his line. Guarantee Henderson would of dived on that ball even if it meant being clattered.

It does make you wonder if DDG has really recovered from that knock the other week, which may explain his reluctance to put his body into danger after all there is a much younger man after his slot in the team now.

Another thing is he came back to the team waaay to soon...he banged his knee against the post vs southampton and started the very next game 3 days later. Is it possible he's playing with a knock like Rashford is currently playing with a shoulder injury?

Yep and Linderlof with a current back injury

Yep, true. We all know about players who have either come back to soon from injury either because they are worried about their place in the side or the management team want them to play. Yes yesterday's game was important and you like to have your No 1 playing but there are times when the good of the team is best served by using someone else.

Another thing is accountability. Playing with an injury gives players a cop out excuse for not playing well which is a nightmare scenario for any manager. It's like Pogba coming out the other day and talking about how COVID weighed down his fitness and ability to run for extended periods. I'd call bollocks however, we know he did come down with COVID and was rushed back into the side so there goes accountability...

Didn't you get a bs non penalty plus I swear the second goal came off Maguire hand?

That may explain some of his performances since coming back from the illness but what is his excuse for all the other games in the last two seasons when he hasn't given his all.
