Premier League rule M.5 clearly states that Edinson Cavani must keep the No. 7 shirt for the whole season. If Cristiano Ronaldo wants the No. 7 shirt, Cavani must leave. Or United must get special dispensation from the PL board, which has never before been granted. #mufc
 
| The Ronaldo signing does not necessarily mean that United have finished trading. Several of the players on the block are available despite the window approaching closing time. The club will have to slim down the stable before new faces come in. Utd still want a RB and CM [@FAFiltvedt] #MUFC

  • Ole called Woody Thurs. night to press him to make a move - Woody picked up the phone and started negotiations with Juve
  • Fergie played a "major role" in the last 24 hours both calling Ronaldo and Mendes to sell them on United, as well as members of the United board
  • Ronaldo was "genuinely inquisitive" about how moving to City would impact his legacy
  • Rio talked him through, ensured him that it would ruin his legacy at United forever, and relayed financial details to Woody (with whom he is close). Rio was up through 1:30AM helping to broker the deal
  • At the same time, Bruno, Evra, and Ole all got involved and personally reached out to Ronaldo to show "a wave of affection"
  • Ronaldo had given his word by 10:30AM today that he would be signing with us (prior to Ole's presser)
  • Mendes tried all summer to get Ronaldo to United but we held out because we did not believe he would actually leave Juve
  • City had a fully agreed deal with Ronaldo and Juve teammates believed that's where he was going
  • Suspicions that Mendes used City's interest to get us to act, which may impact future relationship with City
  • Ronaldo has been trying to leave Juve since last summer
  • Fergie is one of the only people in the world who Ronaldo still defers to
  • Our squad is allegedly delighted to have him and coaches feel he will up the levels in the dressing room "like Mr. Miyagi"

The thing is in world of football, there are only two players in their own category, Messi and Ronaldo. No one else comes close. Maybe Salah. So to compare Ronaldo and Messi to a player like a Lukaku is like comparing a Ferrari with a Ford Fiesta. They are not in the same league lol.

Was thinking more in terms of price. And how many people are talking bollocks about Ronaldo not improving us. While the same people were wanking over Lukaku coming back to the prem.
