The only thing I take from that is we are looking at a backup STR on the cheap who won’t want to play every week who ETH knows well

How else would you describe it?

He wanted Nunez and we didn’t stand a chance against you lot especially with no CL. So we moved onto his next target Anthony which we couldn’t sign early due to him being injured. Unfortunately now he’s Bering priced out of a move. They along with ETH need to decide if that’s it or go onto his 3rd choice attacker.

We had a deal lined up for his first choice Timber who decided against joining after LVG threatened his WC place if he wasn’t going to be a starter every week. So we went and got his second choice.

He wanted Eriksen as one of his midfield signings they went and got him.

He wanted FDJ as his main signing and main CM to build a team around. They went and agreed a deal with Barca and his agentand ETH spoke to Frenkie himself. It’s nothing to do with Murtaugh to get him and Barca to sort there mess out.

He wanted Malacia for good completion/ likely replace Shaw they went and got him.

Ever since ETH was announced fans have been we need to back him we need to get him who he wants no matter what. Then when the new structure tries they get slaughtered for it. Things might not have gone perfectly but that was never gonna happen you can’t fault them for trying. Why are fans not given ETH a bit of grief for being so stubborn on his targets knowing full well how hard/ ny on impossible they were gonna be to get.
