The Manchester United Thread

Am I the only football fan here that just watches the players kick a ball about when the game is on and doesn't worry about the soap opera created by the British media?

It's 90 minutes of sporting entertainment.
Ignore the rest (y)

As it should be. People get so emotionally invested that they create their own problems.

Watch football and play fantasy footy.

And ofcourse rant here

When it comes to him leaving, United did everything feesable they could. There's nothing more to be done. Everything else is on Barca and FdJ. They need to find a solution, not United. Why is this affecting you United fans so much is mind boggling.

Call me stupid, but EtH seems bent on on FdJ and as long as there are chance of signing him, he probably wont say yes to another midfielder. Now, if United do not sign a midfielder that would be even more stupid. But who am I to argue against someone like ten Hag?
Granted, if he says no to other midfield alternatives then he should take some of the blame here but what of his other targets? Sure, we got stuck with FdJ but surely we should’ve worked on deals like Antony earlier on before Ajax sold Haller. That only increased his cost since they couldn’t afford to keep losing more attacking options in one summer.

I don’t blame United for not budging. I do blame United for seemingly dedicating a full month to working that deal before even turning to other targets. At some point, it felt we were only working on De Jong.

I don’t think we could of signed him earlier he missed the end of last season and has only been fit about 12 days.

ETH, asked how Ronaldo and the rest believed it was fine to leave a game early, stone-walls on this particular Q. "I think we've said enough on it. I said it's not correct." Then, later, says: "You mention it [to them all], you correct them, then move on."

Ten Hag brusque on the topic of Ronaldo: 'Now I have to point (literally points), those who left, they were many players who left but the spotlight is on Cristiano, that is not right. So do your research and make out (how) many players left.' #mufc

Erik ten Hag confirms Anthony Martial out of Brighton game. "It's always difficult to say, I hope not too long. I think we will have solutions to sort it out."

Erik ten Hag: “I am really happy with Cristiano Ronaldo. We have a top striker. He is here with us and is in the squad and in the plans”. #MUFC

“We want Frenkie de Jong? I didn't know! [smiles] It's about the right players but I won’t make comments. When there is news, you will know”.

Also said Eriksen and Martinez are 100 % fit to start

Erik ten Hag: "We said it before in the depth of the squad. We are still searching [for the right signings]." #mulive

Erik ten Hag asked if he's happy with #mufc's midfield options: "I think so. As we saw in pre-season, we did pretty well there. We have a good team. But we will still strengthen the squad." #mulive

Manchester United officially register Zidane Iqbal in the full squad list for 22/23 season.

Zidane is now the first ever Iraqi player in the Premier League.

Ten Hag on having more signings for opening day: "It would be a good situation but I'm happy with the current squad, we make good progress in training which is more important, I'm happy with the signings until now. You don't need any player, you need the right player, that's what we're working for still." #MUFC

Ten Hag asked if right signings don't materialise, will others suffice to add depth: "If it's not the right player, NO. We need the right players." #MUFC

Ten Hag on De Jong: "We want Frenkie? It's about the right players + I cannot give comments on a player under contract at another club. When you develop players in your current squad, in this moment we have players in that position + performing really well." #MUFC

Savage captaining the U21s against Arsenal, no Iqbal so expect him to be fully part of the first-team squad.

****** it’s not being shown because a premier league match is on at the same time. What a ridiculous rule!!
