The Manchester United Thread

In my opinion we are very close, an actual striker, the same Bruno that we have seen during the last two games, Rashford on the left and we are in business.

Slightly worried about amount of injuries though. That celebration and passion by Casemiro at the end had me choked lol.
One injury in each department and we are messed up.

We need another CB who can actually step in to play properly (worried about Maguire and Lindelof stepping in now). Another RB, as its wan Bissaka if Dalot gets an injury. Malacia is good, but has zero attacking output, but hoping he will improve that. An injury to Eriksen is a major problem in midfield, as the alternative is Fred (who can be useful situationally). Our wide options are good, but need to improve further and the less said about a striker, the better. And then, there is the keeper situation.

We need atleast a couple of windows more to get a proper squad together and be properly competitive, as it's never just about the first team.

The only reason we are seeing an improvement is because there is finally a system at play - the team is playing like a team, they are learning the basics of pressing, positional play and implementing that - basically, we finally have a manager who knows how he wants to play and can get the squad to follow it.

we do but hes a toxic pos who when its not going his way takes ball home to cry about how hard it is for him right now
Unfortunatly, Ronaldo this season is shedding and all United got is his shell. It's slow, weak, taking bad positions, bad finisher and tactically awful fit.
United are better without him.

It's not just the system the manager is putting in place, it's also the disipline. It's also clear from the way that names and past reputations don't matter any to the manager that who is now in control, and it isn't the players.

Was talking to my friend who's bent on United getting a top4 this and a title next seasons.

Yeah, its a clear shift in culture with EtH, but the squad he has is not good and really thin.
Is there a single position where you can trust a sub to make an impact? Maybe McTominay and Fred, with Malacia (who's an alright backup and interesting tactical choice, unfortunatly he's too slow for most PL games) and thats it. Everyone else is subpair or injury prone.

And then the first team. I said multiple times that De Gea is more then good enough for ten Hag. Not perfect, but he'll do for a couple of seasons.
Not convinced on Dalot, but he's getting there. Quick, strong, tall and has a functional brain, all the tools to be a good fullback.

Varane is injury prone, unfortunate because if not he'd be amongst best defenders.

Sancho, don't know what to think about him. One thing for sure, at the moment, he's not pulling his weight.

Rashford is not a striker and cant be a left forward because of his techical ability with a bad football IQ.

A lot of work still to be done.

Well early news on Varane out of France is that it’s his hamstring not knee like was early geared let’s hope that’s true.

We definitely need to improve on our squad to make the bench stronger and to have players ETH actually wants at the club to be able to bring on and make an impact. Still need a STR and a CM in the starting 11 imo.

It’s great to see we can all pretty much agree the huge difference ETH has made at his short time at the club on all levels on and off the pitch.

Just finished watching the game again from yesterday. Not the most exciting but a great tactical game. That first half from us was just as good if not better than against Spurs. Going to Stamford dominating them in their own half having 63% possession and forcing Potter to rip up his tactics after 35 mins was very impressive. Playing through them with ease and should have been 3 up at HT. more of the same please.

Now let’s start doing this against these lesser fixtures which we have struggled with in the past. And we really need some depth back.

Raphaël Varane's injury is less serious than first feared. He has a lesion of the femoral bicep (hamstring). If he is selected for France's World Cup squad, he would probably miss the first match against Australia [@ddubras]

No one wants to talk about volume four of Tubby Shaw’s rebirth? These only get released when he has genuine competition.

*sigh*. Another day, another ex-united pundit spewing BS. Ten Hag clearly should’ve won the league already 11 games in.

It’s sad how all the ex players are sticking up for Ole still and now Ronaldo. And the press also. They all wanted Poch incharge and now want any excuse to have a pop at ETH. I love it tbh 😁

Another good win for the ladies team 1-0 away to Leicester. Goal from Nakia Parris. Keeps us joint top with Arsenal. And we have the exact identical form atm even goals scored and gls conceded. Which is 11 and 0.

It’s been a good week

Non official transfer rumors go to the transfer rumor thread.
The Athletic: "One alternative, said to be a realistic possibility, is that United start negotiations to extend De Gea’s deal but on much lower terms. But Erik Ten Hag will take the lead on the decision."

"United are currently searching the market for goalkeepers who match the Ten Hag copybook. Diogo Costa at Porto is having an excellent season and the 23-year-old is being watched by United staff. Athletic Bilbao’s Unai Simon, 25, is another on United’s list."

"Tony Coton, United’s chief goalkeeping scout, is leading the search and is set to be busy travelling Europe for the next few months, feeding back first-hand reviews to the club’s data system. A goalkeeper of good age to play for United over the coming decade is the primary target."
