The Manchester United Thread

Well, he is a great player.. I'm just happy to see one come through the door.. it's been a long time coming.

But we need to push on from here, with a few more signings, I know the majority will be done in summer but I feel if we could add a LB or a CM, it will make it hugely successful window. Particularly CM, without Carrick we're very weak there.

I would say its unlikely, because the level we need, no one in their right mind sells now, but we'll see.

Wow, just saw Moyes was escorted by Kroos' agent yesterday. Miguel Delaney confirmed that we made bid for Luke Shaw.

I rather this transfer not happen tbh ... It would leave me very conflicted. I am assuming that will be a swap deal w Rooney. And if United really think they can get Mata with pure cash alone then Woodward is a bigger muppet than I thought

This will never happen on pure cash terms alone. Chelsea are not really against loaning/selling players to direct rivals at the right price unlike United but after the way United totally stonewalled Chelsea when we tried to get Rooney, their is no way we will sell Mata to you at any price especially since their will be many other foreign suitors for him since he is pretty young and doesn't have crazy wages like Rooney

No the only way Mata will actually go to OT is if you lot offer Rooney+cash ... Otherwise Woodward shouldn't even waste his time pursuing this deal

No it would be more hilarious to see United end up signing no one in January because they wasted all their time chasing a player they were never going to get on the terms they are proposing

Good that we wasted our time :P

We've bid ?23m on Luke Shaw, which is about the right price imo, so we can't say the club isn't trying.

This just gets better.

It perhaps won't be, but I hope that the worst has passed us (penalty shootout defeat vs. Sunderland is apt for an absolute low), and now it gets better. Hopefully.

Looking at Valencia squad, it was unbelievable the talent they had some 3-4 years ago.

EverBanega Albelda

Joaquin Sila Mata

Villa

With Raul Albiol, Marchena, Alba in the defense.

Would be amazing if Rooney signs new contract.

Also anyone comparing Rooney's transfer sage to Mata is missing point big time.

Rooney was our best player and was injured few times and then fell out with old manager. New manager wanted him to stay which is completely different from Mata's case. He was by miles their best player under old manager and new manager didn't give him any chances.

We made a record breaking 40 Million bid and they made pathetic 20 Million bid which isn't even good enough to buy Carroll. People may say his wage demands are too high but if they really want player they should meet the asking price or if the selling club is not ready to part with him they should at least put a big bid and test, not pathetic 20 Million offer for the best English striker and one of the best striker in the league.

Moyes with Kross agent. They also have different players too but :D

Not at all impossible thing to happen. Kroos has been playing deeper this season and still does well and would be quite ideal for Utd. Contract ends in 2015, but Bayern trying to renew. If he won't renew can see him going in summer.

I don't think anyone can accuse Moyes of not doing everything he can and looking into every possible avenue for players.

So Mata has finally arrived at Carrington!

Thing is I don't think Moyes has what it takes to attract top quality talent.

Oh. Wait.

*awkward*

Just what United have been after. Just like Rooney can unlock a defence with one moment of ingenuity

I beg to argue it doesn't solve our weaknesses, which is kind of worrying when spending ?37m. However when a chance comes to sign a player of Mata's ability you have to consider it. Obviously Moyes felt it right to sign the player, I'm interested to see how he will fit him in.... I hope Kagawa goes in exchange for Gundogan, makes sense for all parties. Dortmund adore Kagawa, we don't really need him but we absolutely do need Gundogan.

If Rooney signs a new deal, then Kagawa is surely off.

I love Kagawa, but signing Mata and using Shinji to try and attract Gundogan would be some genius playing of the market. Mata is better and suits us better, and we're desperate for someone like Gundogan.

Of course signing Mata doesn't "solve our weaknesses" ffs!! We have several weaknesses which will require several fixes.

It addresses one of the weaknesses and given time and money they will get most of them addressed.
