Another striker. Seriously?
Fergie likes to have four strikers. When Berba and Owen leave he has 3 so that makes sense.

Lewandowski just isn't a very intelligent buy, though. He's had a great season, he's on a longish contract, so he'll cost you shitloads. With Welbeck and Rooney set to be the striking partnership, I reckon it'd probably make more sense to have Hernandez, promote someone like Keane or Petrucci, and then buy someone who's good quality but nothing particularly expensive. There's value in the market, it just needs to be looked for.
I see your point but the good thing about someone like Lewandowski is that he would offer something different that the other strikers do not, apart from maybe Rooney who can be physical and can be an aerial prescence.
Having said that would Kagawa fit out natural 4-4-2 type formation? I honestly can't see how he would unless we are going to use more of a 4-2-3-1 next season then maybe but where would Rooney play because I think playing up front on his own is not his best position?
Like? Welbeck offers intelligent movement and good channel running, Hernandez offers raw pace and finishing ability, Rooney combines both with excellent creative vision. i doesn't offer anything those trio don't.
You've been playing a 4-2-3-1 this season for all intents and purposes, it's just been 'smudged' slightly by Welbeck's propensity to come deep and link play. Kagawa can play anywhere in the supporting band of three.
With Kagawa, it then wouldnt be too different to the shape 2006-2009. Which makes me think its about Europe as opposed to the PL. Not understanding the Lewandowski link myself, but SAF has always liked 4 strikers.
SAF also knows when to promote youth, and I'd imagine it'll be a breakthrough year for the likes of Petrucci. With Kagawa you'd have an interesting spin on the fluid 06-09 shape, a 4-2-3-1 version rather than a 4-3-3. Allows for more interchange and potentially more lethality in attack but you would need a mobile destroyer to protect from deep.

Lewandowski is quite versatile, he can just as well play as lone striker, play as deep lying forward, sort of in a Rooney role i guess, and would propably even manage as creative midifielder if the need arised.
He doesnt offer anything that isn't at United already in one shape or another, and certainly wouldnt manage as a creative midfielder.
Much rather have Kagawa, a versatile destroyer and some youth promotion instead.
Just wondering who you would think for a versatile destroyer? Do you think it is likely Fergie will even sign someone like that anyway? I did read on the official Manchester United site that he does not plan on signing a holding midfielder (I know different type of player).
Could SAF not have gone to the DFB-Pokal final to watch Hummels? I think he could do well as a DLP.

DLP? He's a centre-back.. TBF, he'd be a great signing for United.
