The Manchester United Thread

It will be hard to see him test whether he can ban players from using Twitter, at best he can ban them from mentioning the club in anyway shape or form. On what ruling could be ban them from twitter?

I think SAF has banned them from saying anything about the club on Twitter. Thats what Pardew was mentioning when a reporter quizzed him on what guidelines are in place at Newcastle regarding twitter and he told the reporter he had asked SAF for his guidance on the matter

Full marks to any journalist who has the balls to ask Fergie if he's part of the 'selected staff equity' scheme.

I ****** well hope they do. It's one thing to try and spin the Glazers openly because of the IPO, its another to have a sly dig at the fans, and **** big slap in the face if he profits from them, given the unanimous backing he got over the rock of gibraltar debacle

Also, why would investors even want it when the debt isn't getting cleared, they get no control, and they get no dividend?

I'm creating some of our new youth players, anyone know how tall Andreas Pereira is?

I'm annoyed by this whole ipo nonsense and them only wanting to pay off a small margin of the debt, but if it's revealed that Fergie is getting a cut of it then fair enough, he has done miracles at United and compared to other manager's he is on a low wage, the work he has done for United he can be given whatever he likes because he deserves it.
And I'm seeing on other forums that people are calling for Fergie to resign...absolutely ridiculous, without him we would be ******.

Tbh I wouldnt call it fair enough. It's a **** take given the relative finances of the club, think fans have every right to question SAF on this.

I hope the IPO fails completely. From what I understand, the Glazers might have personal debts that need to be paid quite soon and that could be the reason for this.

I think it would be the best thing for the club if fans started to boycott games in numbers. The Glazers will then hopefully default on the current debt and maybe the club can be repossessed and sold. Like the Liverpool situation a couple of years ago. Would this be possible?

They could pay off their debt selling the club for a handsome profit, what they stand to take from the IPO is a drop in the ocean of what they supposedly owe.

They need to get to $1bn apparently to break even. Problem is, they want to profit and control the club at the same time, without being smart enough to realise both isn't possible. One or the other.

This **** is depressing. :/

Fairly sure they could sell to some Qataris, pay off their debts and have $500m change. Surely a mutual interest in that.

But not still be in control of the club. They want to have their cake and eat it.

Indeed, reflected in the share price as well. If the float does go ahead, the share price will surely plummet. Who wants to invest to give the Glazers a pay day, have their money do nothing but pay interest and receive no dividend?

Hence why the original float failed spectacularly now, and back in Singapore.

Yup. Normal service resumed by them going full Piers Morgan **** mode after spending a couple of weeks off.

This sort of situation makes me wonder if I actually do want a takeover for my club to happen if this sort of **** happens. This is what happens when it becomes a free for all to buy clubs, and the footballing bodies lingering on the sidelines look on disinterested, when they only care about the size of success for the EPL.

Wonder if the EPL will actually say anything about the Glazers pocketing £150m while ignoring the debt on the club. Won't hold my breath.

After watching what happened with Portsmouth, Leeds et al; dont hold your breath. Haven't said anything at all so far.

Think they'd learn, but Scudamore doesn't care as long as he has his TV deals.
