The problem is, challengers are arming themselves , while United sits on its ***.

Well, City's transfer campaign is hilariously bad so far, but Chelsea are looking pretty scary.

a:- You cannot say we are sitting on our *****.We have made bids for fabregas.

b:- City is hilarious ? Mind throwing some light why.I find they have done really well.Chelsea had a brilliant squad last season also till they decided that squad depth means **** to them and sent out crazy good players out on loan. They are tittle favourite this season without a doubt and if they some how manage to buy rooney the fat money bag well everyone can kiss the title goodbye.

Wolfsburg are eying Luiz Gustavo despite it is said he doesn't want to leave. But if Wolfsburg think they've got a chance I guess we can just declare interest and sign him up. Won't be expensive and he is the type of player we've been lacking in midfield for some time. And like all Brazilians I believe that we can move him one position forward on the pitch so he won't be just a destroyer :)

How's that exactly? Their current squad is arguably worse then when they were champions. They overpaid insanely for Fernandinho , Negredo and Jovetic are both downgrade compared to Tevez.

Blowing up over 100m on transfers, without even significantly improving your squad, is facepalm worthy.

yeah they may have overspent but i feel Negredo and Jovetic are much better strikers then tevez and have more years in them to improve. Also united overspent on Berbatov a few years back but anyway i really dont understand why Dzeko doesnt start more for city he is there best striker at the moment
sorry MUFC fans for commenting about city but i just wanted to voice my opinion :)

Hmm. Going to disagree with this one.

City 2011-12

Hart
Richards - Kompany - Lescott - Clichy
Toure - Barry
Milner - Silva - Nasri
Agueroooooooo

City 2013-14

Hart
Zabaleta - Kompany - Nastasic - Clichy
Toure - Fernandinho
Navas - Silva - Jovetic
Aguero

Apart from Zabaleta (who I think is better than Richards, but now the latter's fit again it's a moot point anyway), the other four changes are all upgrades, some minor (Jovetic over Nasri, Nastasic over Lescott) and some major (Fernandinho over Barry and definitely Navas over Jimmy). More importantly though, you said it was their current SQUAD that was worse, and I have to disagree even more strongly.

In goal, Hart and Pantilimon are the same as they were.
Right back, likewise with Zab and Micah.
Centre-back has improved in depth of quality, with Kolo being effectively replaced as backup by Lescott as Nastasic usurps him. Savic, of course, left after being ****.
Left-back is pretty much the same, though City have offloaded the pointless Wayne Bridge.
Defensive midfield has seen a marked improvement. From the starting pair of Toure and Barry and backups of (on loan, made 1 start) Pizarro, Owen Lolgreaves and De Jong, to a starting pair of Toure and Fernandinho, with backups of Javi Garcia, Barry and Rodwell. Given new recruits further up the pitch, I also expect Milner to be played centrally more.
Attacking midfield. City have lost Adam Johnson, but gained Navas, Jovetic and, err, Scott Sinclair. Easy to see the improvement there.
Strikers is interesting. They've lost Tevez and Balotelli but added Negredo and (if necessary) Jovetic, with Guidetti also backup. Tevez is the best player there, but Negredo isn't far off, and Balotelli wasn't worth the trouble. Either way, unless both Aguero and Negredo get major injuries, City should be fine. Aguero's one of the best in the world, Negredo's excellent, Jovetic has had a great season and Guidetti's extremely promising. City's strikers may not man for man be as good as they were 2 years ago - marginally - but there's more strength in depth.

Is this called the Manchester City thread Mr.Cubed?

Can we talk about how good our squad will be this year instead with the new arrivals of errr Varela and that scottish guy David Moyes. Everyone should fear us this season with Anderson/Cleverley to partner Carrick I would be running now if I was you. #TitleOver

Might as well, United fans are obsessed with City, aren't they? ;)

You don't need Varela, you have Wilf. 40 goal season from him incoming.

A player who decides to skip half the season to play golf is not my main player ever :).Negredo is definitely better in the sense he will not create troubles for city and Navas will help them break down defences who sit back and wait for the counter. The guy can really outpace anyone with his pace and ****** **** he can cross that ball to dzeko.I will not go mad at united till the window is open.If they dont sign a midfielder than i will go mad for sure because moyes acknowleged in the press we need midfielders. So he better sign one class one :).

Meh, the only huge improvement is Navas. Otherwise its either marginal or potato tomato.

Pretty sure Fernandinho is a pretty big improvement on Gareth Barry. Regardless, to say they've got worse is wrong.

If we don't try for Gundogan I'm gonna be fuming! He only has 2 years I think left on his contract! GET IN THERE NOW WHILST HE IS BEING TALKING TO DORTMUND ABOUT A NEW ONE.

RANT OVER.

Dortmund won't let another of their stars leave after Gotze this year.
His Dad, who's also his agent, wants him to stay at Dortmund.

30 million offer to Dortmund and 100k weekly wages may change his mind. You never know until you try. I think we should admit we're desperate for a world class midfielder.

On a similar note, Ando and Clev have played plenty of minutes on the tour and no signs of injuries so far. Will be interesting whether they (especially Ando) can play a bigger part than the last season.

£30m bid for Modric, activate Fellaini's clause, re-sign Nani. Put Rooney on the bench.

I dont care about names, I want a player or two to deal with our midfield issue, but good enough to make us credible CL contenders.

Really hope we don't let Nani go, especially for the pittance being mooted around. My favourite winger at the club, he's unstoppable when he's on it. Always felt he proved he can be consistent when he got a proper run of games and ended up as our player of the year, hasn't really had the same opportunity since with injury and Valencia's form season before last. IIRC, he's made the most assists in the past 3 seasons in the league. Not bad for someone who's inconsistent and missed a lot of games.

Rooney's on far too much to be sitting on the bench, but then, better there than London.

I'd dather sell him abroad, But I'd rather let him rot than go to Chelsea. If he has any sense of professionalism before a world cup, he will buck up his ideas anyway.
