The Manchester United Thread

I seem to recall Rooney giving a statement earlier in the summer stating that he prefers to stay in England. So I'm guessing a swap deal for Cavani would be rather tough;;

Yeah. He either wants to move to Madrid/Barca or in the same league. Madrid and Barca don't want him. Like I said best case scenario. Would be fantastic if he signs new deal but it's not looking good at all..

And he doesn't play infront of actual midfielders or creative players but scores more even though he plays deeper.

You're selling United's midfield way too short. They may not be world class, but they're not Torres-class either.

Valencia was injured in the first half of 2011-12 season and second half he was a beast. **** last season and this season.
Nani was very good in the first half of 2011-12 season and then was sacrificed for Valencia. Last season and this season he was injured most of the time and never got run of games.
Young started brilliantly and faded. Non existent last season. Only half a season of good performance.
Giggs is Giggs.
Scholes played half a season after coming from retirement, last season was as good as retirement.
Cleverley - meh.
Anderson - Always injured and never got run of games.
Carrick - Not a creative player.

How did he get the service then? Well that's what brilliant players do. Like I said, Rooney carried the ManUtd attack and covered lot of cracks with his more than 100% efforts on the field.

Why would we pay an outrageous amount for a Chelsea bench-man and someone we don't even need. Especially when we can pay pretty much the exact same price who would fit us much better and activate his release clause..... Julian Draxler.

No RC active until summer.

Even so, I'd rather spend that on Vidal or Marchisio or Gundogan or Reus, a player who we would actually need and suit us.

Yeah I understand that. Chances of Gundogan much better now after Alonsos new contract. Also some rumours in Italy linking Utd with Hernanes.

I never said Rooney played in worse team, just that it was not significantly better.

Re your Paul 'best ever' scholes, you are ******* stupid and you keep on doing that. Once everyone calls you out you start crying that Mod is unfair or whatever ****.

Anyways to address your point, Scholes was retired and was back in Jan. He played half season and played only 16 games last season. Carrick is not a creator, he is deep midfielder.

Young was never good. He had a purple patch and nothing more. He was injured a lot too.

Valencia was beast in the second half of 2011-12 season, injured in the first half and **** from last season. One of the bst in the world? Why not if it is helping you win the Internet argument. So he was not playing with very creative players. Rooney carried ManUtd and he scored and created goals. Stats show how much Rooney was involved in scoring and creating more than Mata.

IIRC Rooney and RVP didn't even start 50% of the games together because of injuries.

Anyways Chelsea were ****, Mata was the best player in the league .Just jog on man, it's tiresome with "he carried us to FA cup and CL" when it was Drogba who was absolutely beast in KOs.

Lol relax dude ... I was being sarcastic. Calm down. If you can't take a bit of sarcasm then don't frequent forums that have a diverse range of fans. It's like me getting mad at you when you say 'I don't think even Chelsea think so short-term' but I don't cos I understand its nothing

I already said that Drogba was a beast in the knock-out but was **** otherwise which would constitute the large part of a season. I don't get your argument at all. It's pretty clear to anyone that Mata played in a worse team than Rooney over the past 2 seasons. Their is a reason why we finished 6th and 3rd respectively while you lor cantered to a title and lost another by virtue of goal difference. Plus most United fans know that a direct swap between Mata and Rooney would be a great deal which is why quite a few were disappointed it didn't happen in the summer ... Maybe their opinion has changed because Rooney has been the only bright spot in your dismal season so far but Mata is younger, has comparable talent, will demand lower wages and is a better personality. So if such a deal does take place, united will be the main beneficiaries for the long-term whereas Chelsea might get the best out of Rooney for a couple of seasons all the whole paying a frankly ludicrous weekly wage before he starts to regress

Theres a difference between sarcasm and doing the same thing that has caused issues before and has annoyed others then casually passing it off as sarcasm.

No one actually denies that Rooney is a great player but it's painfully obvious to anyone with even a passing interest in football that he played around better players at United than Mata does at Chelsea for the past couple of seasons at least. Either way, comparing Rooney and Mata is a bit like comparing Ronaldo and Messi. Both are world-class in their own ways except one is younger and generally more likeable

Hardly ... I have always stated that Scholes was a great midfielder. It's not like I completely belittled him or anything. I just mentioned that maybe people exaggerate his qualities a tad too much

United issuing a denial of the bid for Mata? Hmmmm ... You know this could just be United going *** for tat after Jose's Mourinho comments. No substance here whatsoever. As you were guys

Post ridiculous post and when someone calls out pass it as sarcasm. Bravo.

Re rest of your post, I have addressed it lot of times and with breakdown of each player which you ignored everytime.

Meh, whatever man. You win.

Who are those "many ManUtd fans" who were disappointed that swap didn't happen?

Or maybe you are too young and missed his great years?

IIRC you are 18 as I remember you saying you are 16 year or 2 back, so its understandable if you missed his great years and only watched twilight of his career.

Scholes was brilliant. Couldn't tackle for ****, of course, but his passing was out of this world.

I quite liked his volleys from corners, when Beckham used to drop it perfectly onto his foot and it flew into the top corner. Not seen one of those for ages.

Not a volley, but a great (and important) goal nevertheless.

How about this for a technique.. Fantastic strike.
