The Manchester United Thread

Didn't see the press conference today but apparently LVG hinted towards buying Falcao at the end of his loan (not that you'd say anything different atm).

But I'd be disappointed, don't get me wrong, Falcao is a fantastic player and I hope he hits it huge during the loan, but to pay £44m or whatever it is for a 29yo at that time, will be too much.

I hope he's just been bought to give RVP and Rooney a kick up the **** and bang in the goals for us this season.

He can't exactly go around saying Falcao will shunted back to Monaco when his loan period has barely started, could cause a whole different set of problems. Guess we'll wait and see what happens.

Switch to back 4 then it looks good.

Yeah, possibly, remains to be seen if LvG will do that. Jones was hands down our best defender in a back three, but I guess we'll see if LvG wants to have faith in the current CBs (I'm more skeptical, considering that Evans has not adapted to the system, and keeps making silly errors, and Smalling in general has been okayish at best, while Rojo is new). 4-3-3 would be nice, giving Blind, Rojo, Shaw, Herrera(?) and Falcao their debuts..

Dont forget that QPR have been using the 352 (pretty calamitously) so far so yes, Sunday may be the match where LVG tries something else esp something to avoid their lack of pace at the back ...

3-5-2 means limiting our attacking options, at least for that reason we should dump it and move to 4 man defense.

drop the 3-5-2 and go with 4-3-3 Degea raf rojo smalling evans herrera di maria mata rooney van persie falaco

As good as some of our transfer dealing was, can't help but think we're woefully short at the back still, both in depth (especially on 3-5-2) or quality (even in a 4 back).

I know some people will come back and say Evans... but he's not that good and is prone to mistakes. We have no natural commanding leaders either.

Really think we've made a huge risk not getting in that colossal CB. Even Ron Vlaar would walk into our defence.

I'm relating this as Jones (our best defender) is out now for a month.

The way I see it, our principal move with defence atm is to keep Jones fit. The others can be rotated around, but keep Jones fit, and it should still be good enough, to easily hold on till January atleast.

I know who our signings were >.>

I'm just pointing out that our defence is really lacking, especially when Jones conceivably got injured.

I'm just pointing out that you're never happy. Literally never happy. Cheer up :)

Doesn't matter if you've got the best attack in the world if your defence can't stop leaking goals.

All I'm saying is that with all the money we spent and signings we made, would it really of hurt to of got someone like Vlaar just to sure up the defence incase of an injury where we are now short again.

Look at it this way at least we'll see a lot more entertainment than last season.

Jones out for a month, the silly ****** carried on playing for england and that tosspot woy kept him on for atleast 5-10minutes absolutely infuriating.

About 10 players still out? good job we have no europe.

Not quite sure why y'all want to drop 3-5-2 just now. With Jones injured, Evans off form, most of defense and central midfield being new to the team, its fairly obvious you're not going to be able to defend for ****. Even more of a reason to get as much attacking talent on the pitch, because trying to grind tight 1:0 wins just isn't going to work at this point o fthe season.

.

Except thats pretty much exactly how it went the last time Fergie won the title.

With no jones or smalling on sunday and if shaw and rafael can play i'd much prefer 4 at the back rafael, evans, rojo, shaw

If it's 3 i think we might see blind either at cb or as a wingback. Either way aslong as we get some attacking flair and some falcao i'll be happy. Would love for him to smash in a few to pipedown the welbeck brigade for a while.
