The Manchester United Thread

It Rafael can stay fit, then yes. But what we saw from him is bad injury record. I would be sad to see him leave, but it would be for the best if it's so.

I don't think anyone genuinely wants Rafael gone, but his lack of reliability is indefensible. He could still be great for some mid-table teams, but I don't see him ever having a real career on the top level.

In club like United, there's always 2-3 guys who'd love to take your place. You need to be as consistent as a morning *****, or you're out.

Well this isn't the case anymore because a bunch of them have been poor for years and still play and we haven't had a proper deputy right back for a long long time.

Won't be the case under LVG. Can clearly see not happy with the squad and is in the middle of assembling the squad he wants. While revamping the whole youth set up, so we can start bringing through quality young talent forign and domestic. While still being successful.

Can't see us competing with city or chelsea for the next 3 years, unless of course we get rid of the likes of rvp, stop with rooney in midfield and sign some proper forwards and midfielders and a top class cb.

Still though players don't matter much when the football itself is abysmal.

Tbh we have not been that far off City this season considering how poor we have been and the changes/ injuries at the club. We will defo be challenging next year IMO. If we did not have those bad results at the start of season we would be up there now despite our poor performances. Considering Chelsea and City are suppose to be miles a head of us playing wise, they have not exactly left us standing.

I've seen city play some magical stuff mainly through silva, us not so much. You say we're not that far behind yet we're in a scrap for 3rd or 4th with the likes of southampton and spurs who shouldn't be anywhere near us and not mentioning arsenal or liverpool.

Chelsea have, they are 13 points ahead, in the prem that is left standing at the top of the table. City have been as United have, playing to less than/minimal potential but points on the board. Depends on the summer for next years challenge for United, but if no major major buys id be looking at the year after so i'd say 2 years to build, buy, bed in and challenge.

We spent 150m and we're still way off. rb, one or two cb's, one or two cm's, winger and a forward are needed.

I don't think we are way of personally. 3 key signings and a little more to the squad and we will be right up there team wise with Chelsea. That don't mean nothing results/performance wise I know. But going on Lvg history his teams are known for being strong and quick off the blocks 2nd season.

We also saw 11 first-team players leave the club, so they were replacements rather than upgrades.

Player for player wise maybe three will do but when we're putting square pegs into round holes and playing boring football we're not going to do much damage to chelsea.

Like i said messi and busquets could play for us and we'd still look awful.

Which goes back to shocking decisions and running of the club since 09, laughable.

Would hate to see Rafael leave, seriously. Enthusiastic and actually good. Miles better than Valenica;; if only his injury record..

I'd still keep Rafael, loan out McNair and get in a RB, especially with claims that we have more than enough cash.

Clyne/Coleman, Depay, Hummels/Laporte/Marquinhos, Pogba/Verratti/Koke, Cavani/Dybala/Lacazette. That would be an outstanding summer.

Clyne/Coleman should be around 30 Million or so I guess. Hummels/Laporte are more realistic, considering PSG will try to milk everything they can and more for Marquinhos considering the **** they spent on David Luiz. So, around 35-45 Million there. Depay should be straightforward, around 20 Million? Cavani will probably again be around 50 Million, whereas Lacazette will be cheaper at around 35 Million or so? That's already around 130 Million, reduce whatever we make from sales (I'm guessing Mata will be gone, I'm afraid Rafael will be too, Evans should be gone). Around 30 Million? Then pay through the roof for one of the midfield generals, lol..

I'm sure most Utd fans will hate to see Rafa go. But the simple fact is he is to injury prone and likely to do something stupid like get a red card or something else rash. Best we get someone new in and try and getting a settled back 4 in which we can build on. We have made poor decisions in the transfer market and keeping a lot of average players at the club. Lvg is not the type of manager to do this. If you can't stay fit or are far to inconsistent you will be gone.

Sometimes I reckon fans think Lvg just came in and took over a settled side and a team fresh off winning the league. Quite the opposite! He needs time at least 2-3 seasons, like I said I fully expect us to be right up there challenging next season on all fronts.

Lots of clubs do it and I don't think Lvg has been that bad tbh at this.

Wait, am I missing something here? Isn't Marqinhos a short CB who is awful in the air, and only thing he's really good at is his pace? I know he's sort of ball playing CB, but what the ****?! Jones/Marquinhos as the pair? We are going to get murdered against tall, strong teams even more than now... whats the point of bringing him in... he doesn't solve anything at all...

Marquinhos is a monster in the air. Also he'd be paired with Rojo.

I highly doubt Marquinhos will be brought, PSG won't be willing to sell, as I mentioned earlier. I think it's more likely Hummels, with Laporte as backup option.
