The Manchester United Thread

But its his dream club, he's being played 3 times less what hes worth, and misses his g/f....

:p

What about everything United have done for him? People seem to forget how he was bad and many mistakes at first but we still stuck with him, ultimately making him into what he is today. Not every big club would of kept that faith, including Madrid, that's why I fear for him if he goes there. Few mistakes and everyone will be on his back.

To leave mid-season would be plain disrespect towards a club that has even tried to play their part in letting Madrid get him for a reasonable fee.

To be fair it took you lot 8 hours to read through the contract and add a few minor adjustments and send it back to them.

ManUtd were involved in multiple deals, they can't just sit and wait for Madrid's offer and respond immediately. Many players left and we are paying huge sum for a teenager.

So DDG to buy out and leave for £0 in Jan then?

No. He can sign pre contract but can't leave.

See, you don't want to give him any sympathy because he didn't sign a new contract, but then you expect him to play nice as well.

What have United even done wrong in this? Explain that to me. Did you expect us just to let him run away easily for an insulting fee?

I literally can't see what we've done wrong at all here, was offered bumper contract, didn't take it. Wanted to leave, we've held out for a fee that isn't even that over-whelming for the talent he is and played our part in letting him go when Madrid played their part as well.

I'm just saying you can't believe what Real Madrid says and take it for what it is. Even the Spanish media are blaming Madrid over this, so they've conveniently responded to try and justify themselves again.

Does anyone seriously expect them to announce this and put themselves totally to blame? Not a chance, they are trying to save face, as expected.

Oh, I'm not believing either side.. It's just one huge mess either way

Sits down, takes a piece of wrinkled paper

I'm at a ******* loss. I rofld my *** off.

Not this again. Yes you stuck by him but he also stuck by you when you finished 7th and rewarded your team with a brilliant season that elevated United into the top 4

Madrid have cocked it up, not us, we've been insistent all a long on what we want and they've only decided to go through with it on last day.

Madrid have cocked up, but he's staying, which means it is now your job to fix it and motivate him again. Either that or get stuck for a year with two unreliable goalkeepers.

So he needs support, not cash. You are talking of giving him a million pound bonus, coz he's upset.

I'm talking about motivating their best player who just had what is probably the worst moment of his professional career. Maybe if you were in this situation you'd like to receive support in form of teddy bear and a hug from Van Gaal, but I'd imagine for most people million pound bonus would be quite more effective.

Its a sensible, practical thing to do, and you're **** bent on attatching some pointless emotional argument into the whole thing, as if millionaire football superstars are robots not people, and are not allowed to lose motivation when things go to **** at work.

The guy just lost millions of pound in wages, signing bonuses, performance bonuses and advertising deals, he'll have to deal with another year of having blue balls every weekend, and on top of that he'll have to live in rental. That's incredibly ****** situation to be in, even if the rental will have swimming pool, jacuzzis and helicopter pad.

Waiting for Madrid to remember how they tried to resolve it months ago but were stopped by United demanding Ramos. That dastardly unsettling of their captain is just yet more evidence of United's diabolical machinations.

>"Money doesn't matter to us, we're so ******* rich"
>"We shouldn't waste money on a player who is leaving"

>"De Gea has been handed his stardom on a silver platter by us and our support. United is one of the few clubs that still operate with that attitude and level of reinforcement for our players. He owes us loyalty"
>"Things have gone badly for him? He'll just have to suck it up, we don't owe him anything"

Actually no, they first offered a measly fee of £13m for De Gea, we were so insulted by that we then started asking for Ramos in return. Who at the time had his own problems with Madrid.

Why are you being a big old ***** about this, defending a notoriously dirty and rotten club like Madrid over this without really knowing anything about it like most of us?

Because you are defending United like they are the second coming of Jesus ....

I'm not defending them, but you seem convinced that absolutely everything about this situation is Madrid's fault.

The Ramos comment is more about what Madrid will most likely turn to next in their list of excuses.

No I'm not at all, I just believe Real Madrid would release that with their own version of events whether they were true or fabricated to get themselves in a brighter picture with less scrutiny.

The spanish media was blaming Madrid, **** everyone was before they released that, bit convenient that they felt the need to release that and then how at the end it says Real Madrid is cleared of any wrongdoing, don't you think?

Madrid had all summer to get a deal done. They waited till the late afternoon. United did get all their paperwork in.

Madrid have known all summer what the asking price was, they knew that UNited would also want Navas. we all did. So why wait to do such a complex deal till the end. Especiually when you knew Navas didnt want to leave and it would take time to convince him?

Even Marca have attacked Madrid now.

It is madrid fault. Even if they sent contract papers at 6 in the morning and ManUtd respond to it at 11:59PM, it's Madrid fault.

Reason? They had all summer and they knew the fee but they waited till last day after noon to make the move.

Even journalists who have been very critical of United in the last few days are rounding on Madrid's idiocy. If United had been stalling on this for a week, you;d have a point but the offer from Madrid was the first formal one in this entire story. on the 31st august

It's Madrid, I've given up trying to apply any logic to them which is where I have a problem. Normally with a half-told story like this you could fill in the blanks rationally and work out what happened but when it involves them then anything could have happened. Until we see evidence (which of course we won't because FIFA will never allow them to post detailed, timestamped images) I'm just going to assume that this was a colossal **** up for all involved.

United have said they can prove theirs is FIFA timestamped tbh. LFP actually said they never got Madrids paperwork, its not even late, it's just not there.

The **** up United made was answering the phone

It's midday on the 31st, should have told them to **** right off

I thought FIFA were incredibly strict about releasing material from TMS? Which is Madrid have gone down this route, because then they can turn it into a he-said, she-said situation without ever being proven wrong.

Why though? Surely getting Navas + cash is better than a potentially messed up De Gea for the next 12 months.
