The Manchester United Thread

One thing I would say though, if Pep is already City bound, which is likely.

The fear factor of a Jose with a point to prove against everyone is as fearsome as they come. If he brought that kind of aura to United it would certainly be interesting.

That's very important point. Jose has a point to prove and will be extra motivated. He might sign for United or any other club, but he will have point to prove.

There was every chance any of Chelsea, Ciry, United, Madrid, Munich and possibly even Arsenal if Wenger won it and called it quits would be up. You know that full well..

Absolutely ludicrous

Mourinho had just won the title at Chelsea. Guardiola was killing it at Munich. Wenger had given no indication he was going to retire and he is never going to be sacked mid-season unless something truly devastating happens. United were happy with LVG. Madrid had already hired Benitez. City had just backed Pelligerini massively in the transfer market making him favourites for the title

In short, there was no indication at all in the summer that any of these clubs were in trouble or were going to lose their manager to resignation or sacking. Least of all, the three English clubs and Munich. No one could have predicted what has happened in the last 6 months

And I love this assertion that every club has so much better prospects. Financially, you've the TV deal kicking in next year. More pertinently, you've another 7 thousand drafts and more importantly far greater corporate facilities at Anfield kicking in. With another 6k to be added the following few years. And you've a manager that most players, particularly in Germany, openly say they'd love to play for. This perceived misnomer financially is closing far more than you flippantly keep asserting.

You can have whatever deal you want and make the stadium as large as you like. United dwarf everyone commercially. City are absolutely loaded and have new Chinese investors coming in. Chelsea are also more savvy commercially and are building a fantastic new stadium which should open the floodgates of revenue and elevate them to the big club. United and City are miles ahead commercially. Chelsea not as far ahead but ahead nonetheless and on the ascent

Yes and the Manchester clubs are not only ahead commercially but are about to probably he two world class managers in Guardiola and Mourinho whom every player in the world would like to play for, not just those in Germany. Chelsea might get Simeone who Is no slouch either. Don't expect Klopp to be any great level lee

As for the youth side and squad strength, that's completely open to interpretation.

He came because it fits perfectly for him. The traditions and standing of the club, along with the fan bond he relishes and is trying to build back up along with building the team, just fits perfectly for him or else he wouldn't be here and he'd if waited.

Go have a look at youth team results across the board. Chelsea and City are miles ahead of anyone else. United and arsenal not far behind. No debate there at all

Values and tradition is bunkum. I am sure certain managers like Klopp value them but pretty sure he likes winning trophies better. United also have better standing than Liverpool and much bigger fan base. Munich as well. Chelsea moving upwards very quickly along with City

Dude, again, no matter how much you want to try pull us down and stamp your feet that every other job is better for him; the man himself refutes that and continues to be real happy with his choice and what he's starting to build with the prospects within that.

He repeatedly said he was waiting for the perfect project for him and he found it.

I can't change your (misguided) view on that. The man himself, no matter how many times he tries can. So carry on unabated at your leisure.

Again, good luck finding your long term manager. We have ours and we relish battling all these 'much better and bigger' clubs going forward.

Yes because everything that comes out of player and managers mouth is obviously true

You lot can forget about Mourinho. He once said he loved Chelsea so much, he will never go to United. Papers are talking ****

Oh and why does everyone think Ancelloti is going to Munich? Didn't Sunil post a quote of him saying he doesn't like their games and the league. Journo's are really talking **** aren't they???

It has been confirmed by Munich that he is going AFAIK

Yep, Ancelloti got confirmed yesterday

Is this the Liverpool thread or does Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool's current financial and current prem standings have anything to do with a United thread... (although i do love the debating)

You are joking aren't you?

I think you misspelled embarrassing.

No United need some kind edge/aura back, right now it is all too nice, some more horrible ***** who thinks everyone is against them like in the past such as players like Keane. Mourinho fits well in that regard.

Plus remember when Rooney actually had a fighting spirit? Now he's like a shadow of himself who doesn't do anything.

Because that has worked well for Chelsea so far....

Sigh, dude, stop falling into the trap of judging Jose on this season. You should know better man!

He wouldnt if Jose hadn't done exactly the same thing at Madrid albeit with less spectacular results

I hope for both his sake and yours, he doesn't go anywhere near United. He needs to clear his head and take a break from the game because Madrid has damaged him fundamentally. You don't need him coming back all aggressive and with a point to prove especially when the person who rattled him the most will be going to the opposing dug out

He's been a winner and major ***** for all his career its only this year the ***** part has taken precedent as he's not winning. Judge him on any season, the unprofessional side is always there.

Jose with a point to prove is more appealing than him without one in my opinion. Plus this whole Pep this and Pep that is doing my head in, Pep in himself hasn't had a truly challenging job yet like the Premier League so he is just as much of a gamble.

I don't particularly want Jose, but people are doing him a disservice, Pep going to Bayern and winning domestic titles doesn't prove anything. In fact it is rather mediocre considering he has better team than Heynckes did and hasn't matched the European success.

It is not about Pep winning trophies although he will make it much harder for everyone including Jose. It's more of the fact that he can rattle Jose like no one else. It was during their battles when we really saw the worst side of Mourinho come out. In his first Chelsea reign and at Inter Milan, we all loved him because he was a joker who knew where the line was. At Madrid and now at Chelsea, it seems the line has completely vanished

Jose has nothing to prove. He has won everything. Only thing to prove is whether he can manage long term but I doubt he will be able to do that after seeing his Chelsea reign. He needs to fundamentally reinvent himself as a manger and I doubt you can do that by taking a job 2 weeks after spectacularly ******** up the last one at a club where fans supported him unconditionally

Not really. He wasn't that bad at Chelsea in his first time here. His behaviour progressively got worse and reached it's zenith during the El Clasico battles. He just cannot control the competitor inside him which is good and bad. It gets the players blood pumping but you cannot sustain it for a long time

One things for sure. The match going Utd fans wouldn't want Mourinho.

Aside from having to accept someone they've consistently hated, they're bored shitless with the current brand of football as it is. To have more of the same, even if it improves results; is no real upgrade when you're enduring it live every week.

Except there were chants about Jose against Norwich.

Also Jose is not hated completely by United fans. Arsenal and Liverpool fans hate him, United fans are divided when it comes to Jose. There are many United fans who are massive fans of his and there are many who hate the sight of him.
