The Manchester United Thread

Blind plays with a **** of a lot of intelligence and that makes him suitable for a lot of positions, including DC, even if he's not really built for it.

Ive been reading and liking/agreeing with your today's posts but this one really takes the biscuit. I actually think that Blind is not bad but you do realise that he's not a cb (or built like one) and would be better suited elsewhere on the pitch?!! We do need a proper cb and this is NOT a new thing as we needed same last summer (I actually think we should buy two cos of the Jones situation...).

He's not super physical, and we don't need him to be, he starts our attacks, has excellent positioning and reading, very good against intelligent forwards. Unless you're going to replace him with a ball playing centre back, it's not an upgrade. City have this exact issue with Mangala and Otamendi, they don't compliment each other. Smalling and Blind do. Only way we currently do better is a fully fit Rojo.

JDY, I see you lurking, been about 2 years since you made a post?

Blind is not a problem. He might not have worked in a different lineup, but he compliments Smalling very well. Sort of like Rio and Vidic covered for each other's weaknesses.

If yers struggle to beat the Danish pub tam through the week one would think he may well be.

If LVG was going to be sacked mid season, the board would've done it last december.

Looks like we're sticking with him till the end of the season which i agree with.

I, for one, have never been a fan of the turnover of coaches mid season.

I've been impressed with blind at cb considering he isn't a natural defender himself. His intelligence in that role is superb. Only flaws are his physical attributes and that propensity to get sucked into the midfield battle ala diego costa's goal last week.

Darmian out for 2 months. So Donald Love is a starting right back for a while, and the backup on the bench will have to be from U18.

What a disaster.

At this point the top 4 is unsalvagable, they need to focus on FA cup and Europe League.

Back to full health and training. But he's had a foot injury, so it will probably take couple of weeks until he's fit enough to last full 90 minutes.

Love him or hate him LvG should of been sacked a long while back and he is an arrogant man, how he can come out after that game and say he is not under pressure is beyond me. That's 14 points from 13 games, absolutely awful.

He he has to go.

He will and should only be sacked at the end of the season...not now...

You're playing every 3 days until mid March. Can't bring a new guy now, it will only make things worse. The only option is Giggs.

Also Jose cracked because he came back from Madrid too quickly. Work hard in getting things right for him for the summer, im terms of targets and hopefully a DoF. This season you either stick with LVG or you have a laugh and give it to Giggs.

Exactly. I'm just coming from the United channel and I see lots of comments going "sack LVG now!!!!"

Yeah I've seen idiots on reddit calling Van Gaal to "be honorable" and resign. Brilliant idea, lets bring new manager and throw him headfirst into 3 weeks of insane fixture frenzy, with no time to learn the players and prepare. I'm sure it's gonna go great.

As long as LVG didn't lose the squad, he needs to stay, that's the only sensible thing to do unfortunately.

United need an understudy/competitor to Darmain, but slightly different (more attacking) RAFAEL

Aggressive attacking right winger, ideally two footed. NANI

Given Rooney is 31 this year, a 2nd striker. HERNANDEZ

One more CM as Carrick has a season in him. FLETCHER

a CB depending on your view of Jones EVANS

The first two are linked, because you can move Martial to 9, so not quite clear cut

(see answers in bold)

We had all them covered until the ******* decide to get rid of them all and leave us with a bare bones squad. Every single one of those players are still good enough to get into this team at the moment and do a job.

Evans was ***** anyways. I completely agree with that one.

Rafael is the one I regret.

Hernandez was always going to leave to be a first choice striker elsewhere.

Fletcher wasn't good enough, though very happy he's still playing football.

Evans was utter pony.

Nani I'm still undecided on frankly.

Depends on your view. At one point he was consistently our best defender. And thats when we had Rio and Vidic. He just lost his way a bit when they went and he was the one that got the responsibility and he crumbled. The way Smalling has stepped up and taken command, I think Evans may have been ok playing second fiddle. Certainly a good enough back up option incase of a crisis.

He got rid of what we would call dead wood, fair enough, but when he's let go very good back up options (and for peanuts) and left the squad bare, not replaced them or at least made sure we had reliable options, and resorting to playing players out of position, he's got to be made accountable.
