Rafael is the one I regret.
Hernandez was always going to leave to be a first choice striker elsewhere.
Fletcher wasn't good enough, though very happy he's still playing football.
Evans was utter pony.
Nani I'm still undecided on frankly.
Dont get me wrong, I HATED Nani. He's the most frustrating player ive ever seen, but maybe LVG could have sorted him out. Basically we have sold Nani (for peanuts) and bought another Nani for 3 times the price (Memphis). Im just hoping Memphis can fulfill the potential we all know he has.
Selling Rafael was idiotic. He wasnt the best defender, but again, LVG could have sorted him out in that department. He always gave 100% and could run all day.
Fletcher was/is certainly good enough to be a squad player (if he wanted to continue like that. I think he would have stayed). Calm head. Been at the club for years and knows what its all about being at the top.
Hernandez would have stayed if he would have got game time. He knew he was never going to be 1st choice. He knew that under Fergie so that doesnt really change anything. LVG just didnt like him. But if your going to sell RVP then Hernandez should have been given another year. If he bought an edequate replacement then fair enough but he didnt. He sold RVP and Hernandez, bought Martial, and plays him as a left winger. So we have our 1 and 2 both on the pitch every game. Where is the backup?
Evans - see my other post. Could have filled in at full back aswell if need be.
Obviously is great to know all this info now, and none of us could have predicted another **** storm of injuries, but facts are facts. He sold solid squad players, didnt adequately replace them, and his big masterplan was to resort to playing wingers as full backs, midfielders as defenders and strikers as wingers/midfielders.
