The Manchester United Thread

Falcao had good stats in the French league, even after the ACL, like 6 goals in 8 games I'm sure it was in the last few months at the end of that season before he joined us.

But anyway, everything about this signing I just don't like, stats may be great in a team which is far superior to anything else in a mediocre French league but for me I just don't understand this signing.

Like I say, PL will be a whole new challenge for Zlatan, physically nothing else compares and if things don't go well he will start moaning. His ego in that dressing room scares me, when you have such composed and level headed young players it could have a detrimental effect.

Having players with an edge to them and that fight to win is one thing, but Zlatan is another.

PL would be a new challenge to the 3 you just mentioned. Not liking a player is one thing, but at least try and base it on something substansial.

Falcao is done as a player, comparing anyone to him is actually ridiculous.

We talk about egos. Anyone remember the players of 2006-2009? Our front three was ego city in Rooney/Ronaldo/Tevez

To be fair that isn't entirely true, well Ronaldo has always had an ego, it has grown with age so to speak. During them years he will still not the finished article and still had a lot to prove. You only saw glimpses of his ego back then.

Never really considered Rooney to be someone with an especially big ego given his success and Tevez well.. not sure really.. one of the most hard working players I've seen on his day and I only really discovered his true colours at City.

All three of them had egos. Ferguson made sure no one matched his, simple as that. Tevez didnt suddenly morph at City like they are some evil side, he was always like that. Kidding yourself if you think United havent had egos at our club through our time.

Of course we have but explain to me how Zlatan and Rooney work together in this team. They don't fit on the field and neither will be benched without causing problems, especially Zlatan.

And Leicester at top of the league with 5 points ahead? This season can go even more crazier.

No Im with razielioux here. ****** will be slaughtered by PSG with that defence and Caballero for example.

That's for the manager to deal with. I mean you realise, the minute we sign any leading striker that debate will happen.

He's 35, Rooney is 30. We're going to have at least 50 games next season.

We've done it with 4 strikers before. Think we can do it with 3

Zlatan and Van Gaal in the same club. Ego clash of the century.

It won't be any better if Rooney drops to no.10 in place of Mata for a new striker.

For me the only way Zlatan makes any sense is if Rooney leaves and well that's not happening so I think we can rule this one out.

It's not much better if it's Mourinho and Zlatan either, this is partially my point in why it won't work and how I wouldn't want him. A year of his brilliance is a tempting reward but when you weigh up the potential risks I'd pass on it.

You pass on everything. Zlatan adores Jose and vice versa. Ferguson had an ego too. Most top managers do.. The risks you speak of apply to everyone else (new setting) or arent true (past it).

No matter who we sign, there is no guarantee of rooney being sold either. Should we buy no strikers at all then?

Difference is if we sign another striker unless they are someone with an ego and wages the size of Zlatan as well they won't demand to start every game.

I was afraid that Kane would be a one season wonder at the beginning of last year, but now by all means lets go for him.

But it depends who the Manager would be as I have a feeling that LUKAKU would fit better with the way we have been squad building (in that he's a bit more combative). I know Mourinho wont want him if he comes which is a shame.

Id love Zlatan to join us if only for the lols! Seriously now, he would be a major lift with his character.

But we do also need a better winger/inside forward and we should totally go for GRIEZMANN rather than the overrated and overprised speed merchant that is Anderson. And also another young BBM/DM/BWM to take Carrick's place.

We would then only need a good cb (Laporte? Varane?) and we d be set (tho I must say I dont trust all our FBs - Varela is too old to be making last week's kind of error - as well as Valencia who's a one trick pony that got found out ages ago and Young who's NOT a Utd player whichever way you look at it).

Also has Andreas Pereira ****** in LVG's breakfast or summat? I live in fear that he' ll justifiably get fed up and leave and we ll be faced with a repeat of the POGBA situation.

You don't think any top forward we sign wont want to start? It's up to the manager to manager that. That's what they are paid for.

For someone as apparently disruptive as zlatan, most teams tend to galvanise and work with him in it. He knows he's not going to be starting forever, he's 35.

Why is everyone using the word ego like it's an inherently bad thing?
