The Manchester United Thread

One thing that ****** me off is the new signings wearing the old shirt. We are bringing the new one out in a matter of weeks. Just put that on them ffs!! Its not like we haven't seen them already anyway.

Seeing the Zlatan pressie i got reminded of king eric. Yes Zlatan will bag us some goals but his general attitude and aura will lift the whole club.

Breaking in Mexico press all papers and on RB and radio that Hirving Lozano is just about to sign for us. Sports witness confirming the stories also.

Article from Sports Witness

Hirving Lozano is very close to join Manchester United, according to sources from Mexico.
United’s interest in the 20 year old Pachuca winger has been reported for a few months, mostly by the Portuguese press, as the player was also being followed by Porto.

This evening, three articles called out attention. One of them is from Futbol Entre Lineas, which says that the deal is almost done and Lozano’s family would be ready to move to England.
According to their story, his father-in-law called some relatives in London and asked how to open a bank account there. When questioned why, he would have said “it’s because my daughter is going to live there”.
Then he was reportedly asked how the negotiations were going and said: “Yeah, it’s all done, there are a few details left and after the Olympics it will be made official.”
Futbol Entre Lineas doesn’t seem the most reliable website in America. Next to the article, there’s an advert calling people to write for them for free so they make their name by being part of this community.
Then there are two websites who were supposed to be reporting these news. Futbol Total’s URL said “Hirving Lozano will be a Manchester United player”, but the article was removed.
The TV channel Univision also has a URL saying “Hirving Lozano would have reached a deal with Manchester United”, but their page keeps loading and nothing happens.
Maybe after a few more hours we’ll be able to find out where this story is coming from. But for now, it’s very strange that three websites have published it in the same hour. True or not, some strong rumours have just been spread in Mexico.

If another winger is coming in, one is definitely going. Don't know anything about this guy or why we need him but some people seem to compare to Montero of Swansea.

Odd deal.. if it's true.

I watch the Mexican League as I lived near there, he is a pacy skillful winger who can finish. Would definitely take him, only issue is he can shoot from tight angles when he should cut back and against PL keepers that will not have much success

Fairer to say not yet. He's capable of it. Liverpool's success will depend on him entering into that league. Conte will need to take nistaional team spirit to Chelsea. He was guilty of downplaying things too much at Juventus, can't do that this time.

Oh yes I have no doubt he is capable of it. But to even compare the two right now would be stupid. Sure Klopp may have a better Head-to-Head record but leagues are won over 38 games and not two. Sam Alladryce probably has a better head-to-head record compared to Wenger but that does not make him the better manager.

How did he downplay things mate?

And Pep, as of now, is completely unproven in England. All relative.

So is Klopp whom you already see fit to elevate to the level of Shankly so I think I am allowed to say that he is not in the same league as Pep or Jose. Also Pep has proven himself in two leagues now. One more than Kloppo.

Hirving Lozano has confirmed himself he will play next season with Manchester United. The youth of the Tuzos of Pachuca made official his move at the end of the 2016 Rio Olympics where he will participate with the national team that will defend the gold won four years ago in London.

According to the portal Futbol Total, family and preparing the move to support the "Chucky" in his new adventure.

The agreements between Pachuca and Manchester United Club have come to fruition, so Lozano will be the ninth Mexican figure in football of the old continent.

It is virtually signed, so that from next season, the squad of Tuzos will join the ranks of the Red Devils, which will be made official at the end of their participation in the next Olympic Games.

Meanwhile, the family of Chucky prepares the move. Two weeks ago the father of Lozano contacted some relatives living in London for information on how to open a bank account in Manchester, Also I was questioned about it, he replied. "It's my daughter and will go live there"

Similarly, when asked about negotiating Hirving replied: "Yes. You're all done, just missing some details and after the Olympics becomes official "

So it seems that the jewel of the quarry Tuza say goodbye to all-white to slip into the red colors for next season.

Want to tell me how many teams had a better league record than L'pool last year from his arrival October up until the Newcastle game with 5 to go when we basically geared everything toward the Europa league and started playing the under 5's every other week, thus giving a WHOLLY false impression to the final placing? For the ill-informed you can count them on less than one hand. All without signing a single one of his own players. I think that's a fair indication he's pretty sound when it comes to the EPL.

But not letting facts get in your way aside, he's had a years head start here evaluating his squad and laying down what's expected of his players and getting that understanding with them. Aside from getting used to the major difference in demands here in England that Pep, like most everyone else, will find totally different to anything else he's been used to. (WAY more less time on the training pitch through the extra games/ media demands etc. And not least no winter break to refresh.).

If you can't see any of those differences and what's in store for one and not the other I can't help you further.

But we'll DEFO revisit this come May. Not that I'm expecting much from Chelsea, but we welcome your challenge.

*Edit* And if you want to argue the toss over this mate, can we switch it over to the L'pool thread please and not take up space here. They have enough with ToD's updates on all the rumours and impending signings.

And as I have always maintained, I have respect for what Klopp has done so far. Two Cup Finals despite coming in mid-season is no easy feat. I think you mean that Klopp has adapted seamlessly to the EPL which really never was a problem for a manager of his quality. Whether he will be considered a success or not will largely depend on how he does from now with a full pre-season under his belt.

Back to the orginal point of contention though, I don't think anyone can argue that Klopp is in the same tier as Mourinho or Pep. Both have achieved far more in different countries. Head-to-Head record means nought as leagues are won over 38 games and not two. Klopp may very well destroy United and City in two games but the smart money will still be on United or City winning the title which is what counts at the end of the day.

Again you can throw me all the facts you want about how Klopp battled through the odds last season and I will agree with you because my original point was Mourinho/Pep>Klopp

Also having won literally every trophy on offer in the past 4 years, I do not mind if Chelsea do not present a strong challenge next season as long as there is progress although Conte's amazing exploits at the Euro's is raising my optimism.

So much for taking it other into the other thread, but regardless, the original point wasn't one of any contention if you'd followed the posts. It was merely a response to someone saying nobody would look forward to playing United with Zlatan and Jose, particularly at OT.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Fair enough

When it says after the olympics I assume that means he is joining us for next season? Not this season coming.
