The Manchester United Thread

If Arsenal had spent 30m on Higuain from Madrid, they probably would have won the last season
Wait a minute mate did you just quote yourself?! Respect.

Bunkum. You flip flop on standards to suit.
Do you really not understand you re wrong here mate? I understand that sometimes you do what i sometimes do (write stuff which are at the extreme of whatever it is you believe just to cause a reaction/an argument) but it should be obvious to you by now you dont have a leg to stand here.

Take it from the one fmbaser who truly likes you (despite you being a scouser  ) and drop it maybe?

The bad blood between the Manchester United thread and Scouse is getting a bit old now?
We are all adults (I think?).

Can't we just have a 'safe word'? XD

They reports going round between 8-10m for Love and Mc Nair. Good price if true. Happy for both Mc Nair will develop into a good solid Prem player at either CB or DM. And Love came on a lot last season will be a decent player if given regular game time.

I think we are still on the right side of banter ...

I am not quite sure I understand this article. By all reports, Madrid had made it clear early that they were not going to bid if Juventus were demanding a world record fee. So its weird to claim that United beat Madrid out for the player when Madrid were not even in the running in the first place.

While this article does make some good points particularly in how Woodward has established United at the forefront of the transfer market and got business done quickly this summer, it almost seems like a brieifing put out by United to the journalist.

The fee truly was astronomical though no matter which way you look at it.

GDS

This week, Paul Pogba became the world’s most expensive player after he finalised his €105 million move from Juventus to Manchester United.

Along with the €105m fee, there are €5m in bonuses that United will have to pay based on future success.

Juventus will not receive the total fee, however, as Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola receives a huge fee for finalising the deal, believed to be €25m. In fact, it was Raiola’s fee that was reportedly holding up the deal.

A further €5m will go towards purchasing a house for Pogba, and then €2m will be split between three of the Frenchman’s first clubs, Le Harve, Torcy and Roissy-en-Brie.

As a result, the total figure that Juventus are left with is €73m, which could rise to €78m. Considering they bought Pogba for around €1m in 2012, they have made an outrageous profit on the 23-year-old.

In his last season in Turin, Pogba scored eight goals and assisted a further 12 in 35 Serie A appearances as Juventus secured their fifth consecutive league title

If it is true that Juve have to give Pogba €5 million for a house from the fee that is a random clause but one I like.

Also if the final fee Juve got is correct then they will have received less for him than Higuain cost them

First time since 2000 that Real don't have the record transfer deal. Know they shell out big fees but, surprised it was that long

The idea that Madrid didn't want to spend was in Marca. Also known as the Madrid mouthpiece

Did they though? Because absolutely no one was reporting that they were even in the battle. You would be hard-pressed to find a mention of Madrid battling for Pogba's signature in any of the million tweets TOD posted here.

You will have to look back to Feb/March.

Something I said a few weeks ago, its very easy to criticize when you will never have the opportunity to do such a deal ever.

Arsene Wenger never criticised. He said "It is completely crazy if you cannot afford to pay it. If you can afford to pay it you can justify it,". It's inaccurate to say that we couldn't afford it though we wouldn't spend that much on a player.
