The Manchester United Thread

Thanks for the responses guys. It's interesting personally as a Liverpool fan reading different POV's on what's acceptable as we're being completely reeducated by Klopp and he's slowly turning everyone to look at football in a completely different way from what you've always known and bringing the complete fun element back into it without it being the be all and end all.

Bar staff always look at me like I'm a mentalist if/when I order neat vodka :S

You'd of loved a weekend break I had in Krakow a few years back. They drink it with an apple juice type and couldn't get their heads round me asking for it straight up neat.

Confused the **** out the Poles! The very last place I'd of thought it would haha.

Although nottin' beats a club we were at in Athens. Vodka and coke was literally a pint glass of vodka ..... with a dash of coke as an after thought. And by 'dash' I mean a drop. Great value for money but not good to have to get through. Those crazy Greeks lol.

Additional confirmation on injuries
Shaw and Mkhitaryan are both available. The only member of the senior squad who isn’t is Phil Jones, who is free to watch the game at Anfield.

Mourinho on Liverpool-United rivalry
“I have to feel it, to play and then to make my conclusions. I am in England for a long time; I’ve never played this match, but I’ve played against Liverpool and United and understand the dimension of this game. Now I understand the dimension of two historical rivals.”

IF I was Mourinho, I'd have Shaw back in at LB with Blind alongside Bailey at centre half. Binds composure and ability to pick out a long pass would be the logical route when everyone else has no time to breath back there. And Shaw's pace to try keep up with the rapid Mane is vital in transition to stop the threat in behind.

Burt if he wants to play Smalling the middle and Blind LB that's fine by me. :D.

I will be happy with either sets TBH. Blind and Smalling being underrated by you imo. Blind can easily cover Mane pace with positioning, never seen Blind destroyed by pace once in the Prem. Yes Smalling can make a brain fart once in a blue moon but is still a To CB in the Prem!

You don't get set in position when your turning it back over under constant pressure and someone's past you as you're going the other way. ;).

Enjoy the game.

Nobody just drinks straight up neat vodka you uncivilized barbarian. You need a snack to break up the taste, traditionally a pickled cucumber.

Cucumber! Do I look like a **** rabbit?

Loved the bison grass vodka. Zu thingie. And that local Krakow one with the apple juice tasting thingie added. Really enjoyed Krakow. The camp not so much but it had to be done.

Didn't get the wrong end of anything as you continue to keep reiterating the same ridiculous point.

I daren't ask what you think of the League Cup.

Well your probably more of a fan of Europa League because your more used to it these days.*runs*

In all seriousness my point still stands, don't really care about Europa League until later stages. To my mind it just hinders you in the league... Just look at us vs Stoke... Totally knackered second half and has cost us a crucial 2 points in a game we should of buried. Not that it is an excuse as we had plenty of chances to win vs Stoke but the noticeable drop off in second half didnt help.

"Hello, neat vodka and a pickled cucumber please"

And i get odd looks just for the vodka.....

Hope he's (Blind. The fella Mane's tucked away his back pocket in) prepared to feel Mourinho's wrath and follow him over the pitch then as RW is only his position for the purpose of lining up. Once the kick-off happens none of that front 5/6 have a set position.

Total football. It's real fun to watch. :D.

Blind, nor indeed the United defence, dont man mark. And they've dealt with teams with better movement than Liverpool before.
Fluid position isn't a new thing. United one 3 back to back to back titles and a CL doing it.

That's before you mention Barca and Bayern... and Barca and the Dutch before then

After all that has been said I'd find it very satisfying if Liverpool outplayed us and we still got the win. Mourinho goes and parks the bus and we nick a goal. Thing is I don't think we're good enough to keep tight for 90 mins and it isn't anything like how we have played so far so wouldn't suit us. I have a feeling we will surprise Liverpool and actually be quite attacking ourselves. We could be deadly on the counter if we set up right.

3 points means more than how we play to me to me at this stage, we just need a draw out of this fixture as I fancy us against Chelsea more.

Ta for the clarification. So it wasn't something Klopp and Guardiola invented? Huh?

Messing aside, Ferguson never fully embodied the whole principles of what Michels was doing the way those two currently are.

IF we get the 3 points, I don't give a **** how we win against rivals.

Best opposition ploy anyone has had against L'pool this season is to go full pelt at them the first 30. (Never lasts beyond 25/30 minutes as teems are goosed by that point and L'pool's superior fitness takes over.). Try to get 2 up early. (1 is proving nowhere near enough to defend and hold against these Reds.).

If there's been one weakness this year it's been starting slow. So that would be a savvy idea to go all in the first 30.
