The Manchester United Thread

Rashford is out of form because he is playing out-wide though. His best position is upfront.
Nearly all top STR start out playing wide early in there careers. Rashford is no way ready to lead the line for us week in week out yet. I remember a lot of seasons when our STR going back years have gone through dry spells.

United were the best team of the weekend. If you play like that, I wouldn't be too worried. Just bad luck.

No one says week in week out though, just for a game or two, give Zlatan a break and allow him to go away from the headlights for a bit.

At the end of the day clinical finishing has cost us, if we have had someone to convert them chances Zlatan has had last 4/5 games we could be well amongst the top of the table.

Never drop a misfiring striker. That's always a mistake. Strikers always average out dry runs with hot streaks. Just look at Mané at Liverpool who went on a 5 month dry run. Prior to the season start.

But they didn't stick with Sturridge! You have to know when and when not to drop a player. Zlatan has cost us a plethora of chances last 4/5 games. This is the kind of attitude that made Rooney undroppable throughout his last 3 years of mediocrity! (or more).

It would be easier with Martial, it's an odd one, because it's not like zlatan isnt getting involved, he is heavily, just not tucking them away, you almost want to play him through the streak

Could say the same for Pogba, Rashford, Rooney, Martial, Mata have all missed or had great chances missed or saved. I agree though Zlatan should be rested a little more though, not playing nearly every game. Keep playing like we are and the results and goals will come!

Pogba has played some cracking balls for Zlatan to score from, that one today wheee it was almost a tap in for Zlatan and then the one he created for Zlatan's head vs Liverpool.

Pogba is much more suited to that LCM position, never a no.10.... think Mourinho knows this now.

The stats show that Zlatan's goal expectation is much higher. Rooney is still a good finisher. The reason he doesn't score is that he doesn't have as many shooting opportunities as Zlatan. This is because Zlatan is much better off the ball. My point being that a striker that gets into a position and misfires will always average out. Rooney's expected goal contribution are under half of Zlatan's.

Playing a misfiring striker is management 101. The analysts analysts the the club will identify that he's getting on the end of shooting opportunities and will conclude that it will all average out. Dropping a misfiring striker will ruin their confidence which is why good managers stick with them. With Zlatan, it isn't a long term trend of declining shot volumes/quality.

For me In the league/ Europa we must play the same team as today except bringing in Bailly for Rojo and Martial for Rashford and Mky for Lingard.

Judging by the chances he was on the end of, he clearly doesn't need a rest. He's just entering a spell of bad luck. You have to remember that because x misfires in the previous game doesn't mean that x won't score in the next game. By the law of averages, keeping Zlatan will maximise the chances of scoring.

so whats going off with mky who siged him if it was mou why was he not playing from the start of the season and wtf does carrick have to do to play more

We had 37 shots...the most any team has every recorded in a match since 2003.

Or prime van persie

Or even my prime grandma, for the love of God.

Also, for people who keep bashing Clattenburg; we had 37 attempts guys, and seeing those clear cut chances we should have scored minimum 4-5 with or without Clattenburg...or Herrera.

So, yeah, I enjoyed the game very much, but let's move on and hope fortune will be on our side next time.

Rumors are that a mourinho out banner will be flown over old Trafford. Dumbass fans
