Gutted for the lads. Poor line up by Mc Kenna can't believe Chong and Boonen didn't start! They look devastated Just like most of our sides though, there's no real balance especially in CM. A lot of attacking and Defencive talent but nothing in the middle. Shocked we've gone out so early!

Gribbin despite being good since returning has upset the balance of the side. Him and Gomes always in each other's way. Boonen most probably one of our best and consistent players has been moved to the bench. Gomes moved out wide and Buffonge moved around everywhere, when he's been best in CM with Whelan. Really hope Gribbin goes up to the u23s from now on. He's good enough and developed enough physically and would help with the u23s lack of attacking force.

Herrera most underrated player in Premier League this season.

Carrick is imperative to the team and we have won 9 drawn 2 when he plays.

Wanyama would be a good replacement for Carrick. (Personally I agree but I wouldn't go for him as he'll be very expensive and there is just as good alternatives. Plus he is not as good on the ball and in my opinion is a bit lacking in that department).

He needs to learn how to attack a football in the air. The free header he completely messed up for the equaliser Sunday was comically bad. I was glad he did like, but you got away with a massive one there.

United are closing in on the signing of Ajax prodigy Daishawn Redan, according to reports.

The 15-year-old striker has been scouted by leading clubs across Europe but United have won his signature.

Redan has a prolific goalscoring record for Ajax’s youth teams and is already playing for the Netherlands under-17 side.
He turns 16 in January and is believed to have decided that he would like to join United despite Ajax’s hopes to keep him in Amsterdam.

Henny De Regt, the former Ajax scout now working for United’s academy, is understood to have played an instrumental role in identifying Redan as a potential star.

United have been heavily scouting Holland in recent years to improve their academy, with Timothy Fosu-Mensah arriving from Ajax in 2014 and Tahith Chong from Feyenoord in July. And Millen Baars from Ajax in Ictober.

Fosu-Mensah, 18, has been training with the first-team and is a big part of manager Jose Mourinho’s plans despite playing only 149 minutes so far this season in all competitions.

Chong has been hugely impressive in United’s under-18 side and sources at the club say Nicky ****, the former player who is now head of coaching for the academy, is “very excited” by the Dutchman’s potential.

Don't understand why you'd deprive him of his last chance to do that. And lesson your own chances in the competition. Made even stranger by the fact he's barely featured this year for the first team. I get he's part of the first team squad and training with them/ making the bench at times. But this is the prestigious FA Youth Cup for Pete's sake.

Personally think it's terribly harsh for him not to have that one last opportunity to participate. I'd be very disappointed from a L'pool perspective if both Ovie Ejaria and Trent Alexander-Arnold don't drop back down the U-18's for one last shot at Youth Cup glory in their last season of eligibility.

Lol what! I was asking a question as I thought you had read something about him being left out that I missed. Sensitive souls on here Hopefully he gets more mins this season and is impressing enough in training to force himself for next season. I know Mou has been very impressed with Andreas on loan and has spoke with him after each match, giving him advice and praise. Think he is doing a good job of earning his way into the squad for next season from what I've read.

Daishawn Redan profile: Strengths, weaknesses and insight into Ajax youngster

Daishawn Redan. It looks like every big club in the world is scouting him, including Manchester United, but Redan is a name to remember.

Ajax’s U17s haven’t had the best of seasons but Redan is one of the brighter players. Redan came to Ajax in 2009/2010 as an eight-year-old and he scored 44 goals in his first season which he later repeated in the 2013/2014 season by once again scoring 44 times, this time for the U14s. Redan is now 15 but plays for Ajax’s U17s.

Redan is a real goal-getter who can also play as a left winger. Not only does he score a lot for Ajax but he has an amazing goalscoring record of ten goals in 12 matches for the Dutch youth teams.

Who is Daishawn Redan?

Born of 2 February 2001, Redan is a right-footed player who mostly operates as a striker but he can also do a good job out on the left wing. This kid can do it all. He’s a poacher who is very strong on the ball and he also has a very good natural dribble. He can hold up the play as a striker and also creates chances either for himself or for his team-mates in both positions. As well as that, Redan has a decent left foot which means he has got great versatility on the wing and can either cut inside to shoot or go out wide and fire in a cross.

Something that was introduced by the great Johan Cruijff, when he started “Plan Cruijff” at Ajax some years ago, was to teach every academy player both English and Spanish in order to make it a lot easier for Redan or any other player from Ajax to adapt to a new club. Through forward thinking, Ajax really do set up their youngsters in the best way possible.

Redan also has a very good mentality off the pitch. You’ll hear nothing but good words from the coaches at Ajax. He tracks back, fights hard even when his team isn’t playing well and has often been a saviour for the U17s by scoring a goal out of nowhere.

Strengths

Redan has excellent vision both in knowing where his team-mates are and when/where to make runs. He doesn’t need to look at the ball while dribbling and has a natural poachers instinct in front of goal. As I said earlier, Redan is very strong on the ball and create chances for himself and his team-mates regularly. Redan is also very quick and is good at getting away from his marker so because of that he can turn very quickly, helping make him very unpredictable and difficult to mark.

I would say that this season, he has found his level with the U17s but in my opinion if Man United did bring him in, he could be the striker for our U18s despite only being 15 because of his strength on the ball, his vision and his mentality of always working hard and wanting to improve – as well as, of course, being prolific in front of goal.

Points to improve

Redan is a very complete player in terms of his strengths but still has some points to improve and develop. I am not saying these points are necessarily bad but if he really wants to be one of the best in the world, these are the points he needs to work on. Due to his dribbling and pace, Redan can often get himself into situations where he can create chances for his team-mates but his final delivery isn’t always the best. That will of course improve with age as he’s got so much more to develop naturally.

Redan is not very tall but he could score even more goals if he improves his heading because he doesn’t always convert good heading opportunities. Also, Redan works very hard but sometimes tends to be a bit too harsh on his team-mates, this isn’t always a very bad thing but in my opinion he blames his team-mates a bit too often and this has been pointed this out by his coaches already, so the staff at Ajax have been working on this.

How good can he be?

His English skills would help him adapt so much quicker in England and the importance of that can’t be underestimated, especially for a youngster. Redan has a lot of talent and would be a very good recruitment by United if it happened. With Nicky **** already having said that United are looking all over the world for talent, Redan is certainly one our scouts should be keeping an eye on.

Marcel Bout, our now head scout was at the Marveld Tournament in May watching Ajax and Zamani was not at that tournament because of injury.

In the last 2 seasons it seems like you guys keep getting more youth from Ajax. I wouldn't know for sure but if this transfer goes through that's already the 3rd player from Ajax youth acadamy I reckon. Then there is the kid from Feyenoord. And those are only players from the Netherlands.

I mean it's cool that later you could call those players home-grown by the time they break through, but it isn't like a kid from the area of Manchester breaking through or even England.

Anyways, not much Ajax can do about it except beating you this and next year in the Europa League (if Ajax won't become champions and qualify for the Champion's League)
