The Manchester United Thread

Decent results for you lot in the other legs at least. Although I'd prefer Lyon over Besiktas, trips to Turkey are always hard, even with all the political drama that's going on down there lately.

I mean Anderlecht are utter wank so yeah from that POV. Result wise it should be job done. But then the last round turned out to be FAR from that the second leg.

It does make next week interesting.
its not just this game its been like this all season ok not as bad as when we had lvg but not much better either and pogba needs to step up big time next season ill give him this season off

You must have been watching a different game alright, because that was hardly a stiff test

So you are saying United can't get a result when they are faced with something that is "hardly a stiff test"?

Bit ****** then, don't you think?

Honestly, I'd swerve it. Love going Istanbul. Particularly Galatasaray whom we have a brilliant relationship with. Never had anything but real good trips Istanbul. (Although that said I missed Besiktas at the Ataturk a few years back and that was pretty hairy the night the game by all accounts. Side note- Best ever European away atmosphere was at Besiktas' old ground. That was mad passionate.).

But it's WAY too volatile right now to be taking any risks travelling there.

Great to see Ajax doing so well again in Europe. Been WAY too long.

Pogba and Carrick very good, but finishing awful.

Tempo was slow at times, But both clearly asked to play as a double pivot. Miki and Zlatan were never lacking for supply today, we just didnt do enough with it

Controlled the game, won the midfield battle, created chances with little issue, as opposed to them being nothing but an average side with their only registered shot on target resulting in a flattering equalizer.

I thought it was gonna be tougher too, but in the end, it was far from a test. Poor result and like so many times this season, the opposition let off the hook

Jose was right about the front 4 though. Not like the supply was a) lacking or b) poor. Should have killed that game. Can see why he was talking about Hernandez, would have bagged an easy brace. We were not great last 20, but game should have been over by then.

Changes little for the next leg, just go and win the game. Same issue last 3 years, shooting is appalling atm.

Mourinho rightly not happy with his attacking 4 again. Rashford offered pace but no final product and kept running into people. Lingard offered running and defensive work. Mkytarian inconsistent with his passing, touch, dribbling. Zlatan terrible. Hate it when he comes deep near half way line, hate them one touch flicks that always go to the oppo and hate that he takes the free kicks. Also far to slow in possession.

Ajax are living for the big games at the moment. They beat Feyenoord (who are leading the Eredivisie) with 2-1, while it could've been 5-0. It is the same for today. They are really impressive with their pressing and the game was very enjoyable. Too bad Traore and Younes aren't good finishers. They have 3 tough games coming up (Heerenveen, Schalke and PSV) in 1 week and are 1 point behind Feyenoord with 4 games to go.

If they can keep this form up and don't take any injuries I'd dare to say they have a chance to get into the finals in Stockholm. Even if they get United in the semi's (to keep this post on topic ;))

Another reason I can't wait for next year's CL campaign. Klopp's L'pool are built for the big games. And there's no bigger games nor competition.

FWIW, really hoping Ajax keep this up the rest of the way. Always had a soft spot for them.

Zlatan and Mhkitaryan were awful today :'(
Especially Zlatan. Mkytarian grew into the game and started to play well and link up play and make a few driving runs. Then nowhere to be seen once he got shifted out right to make way for Fellaini in CM.

You can always drop by and see the one you won back in your greatest ever year, '99, that we just happen to own; to remind you what a European Cup actually looks like lid if yers like.

Help yers through next year's Europa campaign. ;).

If we play that that on Sunday, it will be a handy day for Chelsea.

You can keep it if you like. Coz with Klopps cup record you will never win it again ;)
