[h=1]Why signing Nemanja Matic makes sense for Jose Mourinho and Manchester United[/h]
----

Great article, Mourinho knows Matic better than anyone.

- 7 assists last season in PL was higher than any player at United and 3rd highest at Chelsea.

- Will free up Pogba.(Goes in more depth on why obviously in article)

- Started 30 PL games and kept Fabregas out the Chelsea team despite fans claiming he was a shell of himself at times.

- Mentality and experienced winner, something United badly lack after the departures of Rooney, Ibrahimovic and co.

- Commanding charachter who exudes authority on the pitch, despite being not the most vocal.

Most importantly it gets United that holding midfielder that is so hard to find in todays market, especially when you consider the only realistic alternatives were Dier and Fabinho. The latter seemingly not available anyway now.

Oh and for the record, I'm not suddenly going to say that I think this is the best signing ever. As that would be very hypocritical of me.

But the more I think about it, we knew how badly we needed a holding midfielder this summer, it was arguably our most important signing as well as a striker. We've seen how hard they are to come by, we could off easily gone into next season with no one, the fact that we have now got one and a proven winner at that is only good in my mind. The alternatives weren't any more proven and in Dier way too expensive and frankly, not as good.

Zzeezzy getting me even more excited for the new season :) stick with the PMA! ;)

Yeh, we still need that winger though! Then I think we're solid for this coming season. Just imagine as planned if we had actually of got Griezzmann as well, would of been perfect. That one is happening next summer though. ;)

Yeah another attacking wide player would be great. Can't believe it's only 1st today. Still nearly a month left in the window. Aurier would be the cherry on top!

Matic's signing is less about Matic and more about what he does to the rest of the side. And if he gets back to his best, we have an incredibly powerful midfield

Judging by last seasons PL stats, even when he's not at his best, he still gets more assists than anyone in our team, which is rather worrying!

This.
That is exactly why I am delighted we brought him in.

I think 'crass' is more the word you're looking for. You'll end up looking like minor leagues who do need the extra revenue and a clown show Americanised 'entertainment extravaganza' wringing every last £ out they possibly can.

I am not naive enough to know the game isn't big business today and ALL about making the most you can. But there should be limits.

Gonna' hate seeing L'pool with a 'sleeve sponsor.' The PL/ Cup/ UEFA Badge of Distinction things the sleeves are intrusive enough as it is.

Stats count for little on the face of it, Ederson had 2 assists in the league last season, Myki had 1. who would you rather have making chances? Its not how many pieces in the box, its if the piece fits the puzzle :) (or something).

:p

That's modern football for you. Only a matter of time before they rename Old Trafford to Nestle Arena, and instead of You'll Never Walk Alone you'll be signing tooroo-rooroo-always-Coca-Cola.

Doesn't look like Mitchell will be with the squad tomorrow, he's expected to play 90 mins for the u23s against Oldham tonight.

Bale injured again. What a surprise :/

Thank **** we are not interested in Sanches!!!
