The Manchester United Thread

Ladyman article-

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...rinho-tightrope-Manchester-United-chiefs.html

Key points
  • Some senior officials Not happy with comments on spending
  • They are okay with Mou having his own ways in dealing with Press, Officials, Opposition managers and even Ex players (Ahem!) But not happy with digs at spending
  • One united Figurehead says, players being linked to united by people close to Mourinho (Hi! duncan castles)
  • United happy with progress on the field and sympathize with the poor squad inherited by Mourinho due to Non improvement since Fergie era
  • Woodward ready to bankroll Mourinho's signing in this transfer window if required
  • Plans in place for 2 marquee signings in the summer
  • Understand united have fallen behind city,Willing to do everything necessary to catch up to city
  • Further Comments on spending will lead to confrontation with employers.
Basically, its ed saying please dont say anything to the media and i will spend . Looks like mourinho tactic to publicly question the spending is working.

Very strange to be recalling Dean Henderson from his very successful loan spell at Shrewsbury. Unless Joel is going out on loan second half of the season. Or Romero is being sold but I can’t see that. We are already stacked at youth level with good GKs. Strange!

It shouldn't be a tactic. If he thinks there are players here that are not good enough, why haven't they been sold in the previous summer? He needs to start taking responsibility himself.

Manchester United extend contracts of four players by further 12 months - but futures of three remain unclear @TelegraphDucker

Mata, Young, Blind, Herrera are the 4 with extensions.
Blind, Mata, Young are the 3 that remain unclear on long term future.
Also confirms Fellaini likely to leave and Besiktas have already started talks. But will be free in the Summer not Jan.
Mourinho impressed with Shaw attitude and dedication has earned his immediate future at the club.
Blind still likely to be sold despite 1 year extension. Darmian to be sold too.
Mata likely to be kept as long term squad option, due to Miki leaving.
Young won’t get another contract after this latest 1year extension.
Carrick will retire.
Talks ongoing with Zlatan. Has suitors from MLS.

If true what Ducker is reporting. Which seems likely. Then that’s some seriously much needed trimming Carrick, Zlatan, Fellaini, Johnstone, Blind, Darmian, Miki all look to be going between now and the start of next season. Think a CB and some more u23s will leave also. Suppose will have players like McTominey, Periera, TFM, Tuanzebe playing a more prominent role in the squad. Then likely 3/4 coming in to add quality to the starting 11. CM and attack look the weakest areas for me.

Not sure I see Zlatan heading to MLS NYCFC and Galaxy all have their allotment of DP's and Red Bulls have moved away from the big stars. Just leaves LAFC and they are strongly linked to a few players and will likely want a third DP before the season to help get people watching early. Other than them not sure any city would appeal greatly to him

Jose Mourinho has said claims he may quit @ManUtd in the summer are 'garbage'.

Mourinho: "The worst thing someone can do is put one inch of doubt into my professionalism. I see myself here (after 3 years)

Jose also addressed question of him being "unhappy". "Because I don't behave as a clown on the touchline? It means I lost my passion? I prefer to do the way I do it, much more mature, better for my team and myself, you don't have to behave like a crazy guy on the touchline."

Mourinho, "If you ask me if I see myself at Manchester United next season? Then yes I do."

Mourinho, "I want to stay, I have no intention to leave. I am in the middle of my contract. My desire is to stay the board are happy with my work."

Jose: “From the injured players, Marouane Fellaini is back. Antonio Valencia will be back to the team next week, so not playing tomorrow.“Michael Carrick is back to training, not to competition, but is back to training with the team.”

Mourinho, "I'm going to play with a good team against Derby County, then the result is out of your control. I will play this like a PL game."

Mourinho, "I will play Romero because he is a top top keeper, he will be Argentina's goalkeeper in a few months."

Mourinho on Lukaku, "Romelu is okay."

From the Derby presser. Happy about the news on his future! :)

Great presser from Mou. Was on top and at his best. Looks like we will have an all but fit squad after the Cup game.

James Ducker- Luke Shaw's form on and off the pitch has changed United's plans over a possible left-back signing #mufc

Fanfuckingtastic :P

I prefer to do the way I do it, much more mature

CBJ returning from another disappointment out on loan. Can see him going in the Summer. Shame showed promise but wasted nearly 2yrs of development. And we have Shaw and Young for the LB spot. Riley and Mitchell from the u23s are better. And Danny Williams and Laird are better in the u18s. Especially Laird he’s 16 and close to the level of Mitchell if not better already. Great talent!

CBJ is strange, hoped more of him and thought he deserved more playing time. Something must be going on behind the closed door for him not getting any change in the team or bench.
