The Manchester United Thread

McTominey has had a solid game so far. Shame Pogba couldn’t of been so disciplined against Spurs.
And thats the problem. He shouldn't have been. Its should've been 4-3-3. He's not a defender. He's not bad at defending, but United shouldn't ask Pogba to play like one.

Whoa, United changing to 4-3-3. This will be interesting.

I agree. But at the same time a player should be able to follow a managers instructions. 433 :)

He can't ask Pogba to do Fletcher type of a job. But yes, Pogba was **** poor against the Spurs.

Especially if you forked out 90mil for the ******.

How would De Bruyne do against high pressure opponents if he was playing along side Gundogan in midfield of 2? It was tactical error from Mr. Mourinho in the first place. Pogba not helping himself for not even trying to follow managers instruction for most of the game.

Yeah but it is like asking De Bruyne to play DM and then wondering why he roams from position.

Pogba deserves blame but Mourinho set up the team totally wrong against Spurs.

Sanchez will have no ankles left soon!

He gets rough treatment every game. He's an absolute warrior and built like a tank.

Can't believe and I don't want to jinx how good his injury record is considering how much his body takes every game.

De Bryune did do it, from a 10 to an 8 in deeper role. Fernandinho did it from MC to DMC. Pogba is a central midfielder 2 or 3, he should still not be as ill disciplined as he was. Matic shoulda gave him a bollocking as well.

Easy controlled 2-0 win. 1 good goal. MOTM Sanchez and happy for him to get off the mark. Matic and McTominey played well also.

Not against top oppositions. Against Tottenham, City had 3 in the midfield and 3 defender with 2 wingbacks. Against Liverpool, 3 in the midfield again. Against United, 3 in the midfield while United had 2. Etc.

Pogba is good against teams that defend when he's playing in midfield of 2. Problem is when he has to defend and being pressured all the time. And that happens against top teams.

He was still naff, should be able to stay in a two at his level and not go ball chasing. Being pressured and losing the ball fine, can live with it. Hanging Matic out to dry by buggering off, basic mistake for me. Shouldnt be done (either tactically or individual).

Minor blip though. How the **** Mou keeps with the 2, i'll never know the entire XI looks more comfortable at 433.

He was. Thats not even for a debate. I was simply asking how would De Bruyne do without protection against top sides. Thankfully for you lot, you may never know.

Mourinho insists on 4-2-3-1 because he sheepishly brought 50 attacking players who all expect to play.

And yeah, throwing around Pogba's fee may sound like a broken record, but you gotta admit it's absolutely unheard of that a $90 million central midfielder can only play in one formation.

And I was already saying when you where buying Pogba, that he's a YouTube highlight reel player who lacks tactical chops to be truly world class. The argument back then was that he is still young and will eventually improve. Well it's been 2 years, the "kid" is now a 25 year old man, and there's no improvement in sight. At this point you gotta wonder whether it's the manager who can't drill him or if Pogba just doesn't have what it takes to get to that next level.

I'm Liverpool fan...so please don't base that on this comment.

Just seen a video on social media of a United fan cutting up his shirt because they lost to Spurs!
After the 4-1 beating they gave us earlier in the season I would have never even contemplated doing such an act(did drink a bottle of JD tho) so my point is why are fans acting like that and does it drive you mad as it does me seeing things like that when it's not all that bad?

They're 2nd in the table for crying out loud!! Yeah the football isn't great but come on they can still grind out a result hence their league position.

After the success Fergie had it was almost inevitable there would be baron times but c'mon fans acting like that it's just plain stupid!

If i cut up a shirt everytime we had a shocker...I'd be bare chested 100% of the time XD

So c'mon United fans be classy!

*oh and check out my Inaugural Premier League Kits thread:P*

Most of them are just emotional attention grabbing whores. You have plenty examples of those fans at top clubs.

Harsh but true...we lost to Swansea & West Brom back to back but it's never made me want to do anything but support them more!

Sanchez was fouled 7 times today the most one player has been fouled in a game this season. Huddersfield seemed to try and foul him and oddly McTominay any time they got on the ball

They played to their strengths...literally.
Sanchez scored so that should be the main thing rather than how many times he was fouled...that's what counts end of the day!XD
