The Manchester United Thread

All true, but then there's the fact that Cech's PL debut record of 15 goals conceded and 24 clean sheets can as well go a 100 years without being broken.

I would say that all round that defence is better than United's but Cech made no where near the number or quality of saves De Gea had to make in some games since our defence likes to keep him on his toes

Sure, he does seem to make more quality saves. No arguments there. But let's put it differently - let's say you had to pick one goalkeeper in history of football to catch your newborn baby, who do you pick?

It's Van der Sar, isn't it.

On the subject of GKs. Utd have signed highly rated Burnley GK Mackenzie Chapman for the u15s.

BREAKING: Man Utd add Angel Gomes (squad number 47) & Ethan Hamilton (squad number 48) to the Champions League Squad. They are on the B list which if for homegrown players.
Another achievement for both players well done @agomes_47 & @ethanhamilton98

Today, #Mufc u18s take on Everton u18s in the PL North.
11am kick off at Carrington Live on MUTV
It’s top v 2nd.
Today’s team news:

Also Debut for new Winter signing Matej Kovar

Puigmal pulling the strings early on. Burkart and Greenwood looking lively. Oconner fantastic bringing the ball out from the back. Puigmal so much like Xavi the way he plays.

Barlow close keeping making a great save. Class ball over the top from Greenwood. Max Dunne goes close from the resulting corner.

Barlow makes a great run down the left crosses with his left. Greenwood with a fantastic header looking over the keeper 1-0 after 12 mins.

Nearly 2-0 Williams from LB cuts inside and bends it into the bottom corner bringing a great save from Everton keeper god knows how he got finger tips to it.

Everton GK on fire another finger tip save to stop Barlow long range curling effort. Early look at our GK not had anything to do but his kicking has been pin point so far. Left footed by the way.

Sigh! Burkart off injured after being smashed on the ankle. Ramanzani on. No surprise tbh seem to lose a player every week down to being hacked. Barlow down now after a lung on his shin doesn’t look good. ******* me off this! Barlow ok thank god can see clear on his leg where he was clattered.

**** 1-1 terrible defending by Dunne completely missing the low cross from wide easy finish. Lol **** you dirty Everton Puigmal picks out Williams at LB beats 2 players in the box slots it to Ramanzani who cooly finishes into the top right corner.

Another defence splitting pass from Puigmal. Barlow shot screams inches wide. Yes! Garner with a wide curling cross misses everyone and nestled in the bottom corner lucky lol 3-1 Utd.

Watching Puigmal is like player FIFA cheat mode! Close Garner rattles the bar from a free kick after a great run from Puigmal and gets tripped. 3-1 HT Barlow, Greenwood, Brandon Williams great. Puigmal playing on another planet atm :)

2nd half underway. Everton carrying on kicking everything. But go close Kovar with a good save.

Puigmal with a great great run from deep beats a couple but drags his shot just wide. Seconds later Puigmal does the same again slips on Ramanzani who shot is saved.

Very nearly 4-1 Levitt dummies the CM before his shot skins the far post. **** Ramanzani skins 3 players coming by inside from the right but hits the post.

Good to hear Carrick doing well with helping the u18s CMs.

Kovar with a good save 1 on 1 good debut so far. Good with the ball at his feet good with crosses so far.

WOW 4-1 Greenwood with some great feet dribbles past 4 then took it in the bottom corner. Great solo goal.

MOTM by a mile Puigmal off for u 16s CM Mcghee.

Finished 4-1. Great performance everyone played well tbh. MOTM Puigmal what a player can see why we paid so much and was so sort after by all the top clubs in Europe. Must have scored 50+ gls this lot huge turn around from last season. Huge credit to McKenna and **** and our scouting and recruitment. Future stars remain top of the league. Good debut from Kovar!

You didn’t just compare a 16-year-old to a modern day World great there?

Tell me I read that wrong.

Yes I did. Nothing wrong with comparing styles! Didn’t say he would be as good or will be the next Xavi. You can see the way he moves and especially receives the ball in space and under pressure. Similar styles with movement and dribbling. Very good passing range long and short. All these will definitely improve.

Having watched him for Spain a few times even plays the same role in there youth set. And the same role he played for Barca. Kids clearly a special talent and considering he was seriously chased by the big 2 in Spain says much about him. Not many 15yr olds go for close to 5m even in today’s crazy market.

A 16-year-old. Playing against fellow 16-18-year-olds. There's a reason there are rules against the media reporting on PL club games under the U-18's level. Nearly £5 million for a 15 year-old ..... ? Something BADLY wrong there but that's a whole other discussion so moving on .....

The run in is really exciting for the second straight season. A last day regular season decider between L'pool and Utd would be super.

Got you and a City last 2 games :)

Got City away twice the next three weeks.

Still think it's mad that you don't win the league as such with the playoffs deciding everything this U-18 structure.

U16 and U12's off to the prestigious MIC cup in Spain 28th march, made the quarter final and semis respectively last year. Some of the worlds best talent have come through this tourni. Puigmal won player of the tournament last year.

I have a feeling Mou will play 532 today, he usually counters 5 at the back teams with the same?

I think it's rather far-fetched to say De Gea has saved our season, our defence isn't exactly world-class but it's not bad either majority of the time.

There have been other seasons where he has been more pivotal, still been good this season mind you.

Every team is built from the goalkeeper, if only Klopp realised that you'd definitely have more points this season :P

Be surprised with only 3 fit CBs and one of those isn’t even fully match fit yet. No Blind in the squad either. 433 I reckon.

DDG
Valencia-Bailly-Smalling-Shaw
Matic
Mctominey-Pogba
Lukaku

Then either Lingard, Mata, Martial, Sanchez, Rashford on the right or left.
